Just an incredible overall experience. Each person get's a custom menu that changes as times goes on depending on your reaction to each course. So near the end of the meal my wife and I were eating different dishes. There was a great play on the visual side of the experience as well. Generally playing with the densities. It was... More

This was a highly reccommmended restaurant and we can see why - whenever we travel we LOVE trying the best each city we visit has to offer - this restaurant is in Franschhoek which is dubbed the food capital of the country in South Africa, and after dining there, its obvious to see why. I had the full dinner with... More

Excellent service and presentation, although I found the food a bit fussy. The wine pairing was good, with a different beer or wine with each of 8 courses. Great fun evening but expenasive by S African standards.

What a wow experience! The one thought that came to me, was this art or was it food? I do feel one needs to be open to trying creative combinations of taste and textures and to expect the unusual! We found our waiter explained everything perfectly without spending too much time as so many commented on. We also didn't find... More

My wife and I recently spent 3 weeks in South Africa which included a 3 night stay in Franschhoek. Having read the (mostly) rave reviews for the Tasting Room at Le Quartier Francais, we decided to book the restaurant and are very glad we did. It was like going to the theatre and having dinner all rolled into 1. We... More

Unfortunately, as much I wished otherwise, this review is not glowing. I agree with previous reviewers that the booking process for this restaurant is tedious and we set a reminder in our phones for Christmas Day to ensure we got a reservation! The food, while nicely presented (though not elevated to the level I expected) is just basically bland. It... More

We booked back here after a fantastic experience in the normal restaurant back in 2011. Had no idea we were booked into the tasting room as the phone service is on the poor side when booking, very rushed with little explanation as to what to expect. Suppose I should have been clearer though. The following is about the food and... More

We are sorry that there was a misunderstanding and we were not clearer when handling your booking about which restaurant you had reserved. Once our Restaurant Manager realised that you last ate in The Common Room (now our Living Room, which offers a much simpler tapas style menu), we offered to move you immediately as these are two very different... lets get this straight, no 11 restaurant in Franschhoek, impossible. It is worldwide one of the top 50 restaurants and is the best dinner experience you can have. It Is no 1 and nothing else. Not cheap, but if you are one of the lucky few that can book a table, online, only one month in advance, make no mistake... More

Me and my brother had dinner at the tasting room! Very creative and fusion like food with some very great dishes and fantastic local wine parings. A bit strange that we had different courses thus de factor two different menus my brother and I. This was of cause meant to share, however we thought it would have been better to... More
