Fabulous food served without any pretension. The duck breast was amazingly tasty as was the pasta. The chef is very creative but since there's no slick marketing going on, visitors might overlook this excellent restaurant.

In this very charming little place, located a bit off the main road and its tourists flow, close to the municipality librairy, we appreciated first of all its simplicity and authenticity. The waiter was as charming as the "café des Arts" is. We particularly enjoyed a perfectly cooked duck breat in its jus (un magret de canard rosé) and a... More

We had a lovely evening at Cafe Des Arts. The dining room is small and casual with a slightly eccentric feel. It was pretty busy but the only waiter coped really well wizzing around the tables with a smile. The menu is on a chalk board and we found a good variety of dishes to choose from. The local wines... Cozy and casual atmosphere with an ever changing menu of fresh ingredients which I felt offered good value for money. The scrambled eggs were cooked to perfection and so creamy. We have had both dinner and breakfast here and it would be hard to say which was the better experience - I would definitely go back for either meal.

The tomato and basil soup for a starter was delicious and warming on a chilly spring day. The duck confit main was delicately done and served on a bed of vegetables. It was tasty and done perfectly. Atmosphere was warm and welcoming and service was great (It should be noted that the restaurant was quite quiet during the dinner service).... More

Based in the small village of Franschhoek in the Western Cape. Franschhoek is renowned world wide for Haut Cuisine and Fine Dining.
Cafe des Arts is neither Haute Cuisine nor Fine Dining!
Cafe des Arts is a simple, rustic, relaxed restaurant where all that matters is the food.
There are no table cloths, no silver service and the food is from the pan to the plate. If you're lucky, you may even get some cutlery! -
