I guess what you order makes all of the difference but we've never had a bad meal here - can't comment on their pizza this time as we didn't have that but the fillet steak was definitely very nice. The chef even came out personally to check that all was well with our meals and the service was attentive. You... More

This is a busy, lively restaurant with an extensive menu. They offer gluten free options and the pizza was by far the best g/f pizza I have ever had. The service was very good and our waiter was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. Plenty of staff who keep this busy restaurant moving, no waiting for service. Will definitely visit again before... We turned up without a reservation and were seated at a nice outdoor table. The restaurant had been recommended to us by the owner of the lodge where we were staying. We had the pomodoro and rucola starter, a fillet steak and the house lasagne, washed down with a fabulous local Chardonnay. Panna cotta and tiramisu for pudding. This was... More

We ate here twice during our stay in Franschoek. There is plenty of choice and we enjoyed both meals, which included different pasta dishes and a very good pizza. Carnivores are also well taken care of. Happy to return.

My mum and I went to Allora following a recommendation from the owner of the hotel we were staying with in Franshhoek. It was our last night on a whirlwind holiday to South Africa. Throughout our stay, whenever we went to restaurants or cafe's, the staff have been amazingly friendly, kind and helpful. We arrived at Allora, having booked a... More

We hadn't booked anything so took a bit of a chance. Having failed to get in to a number of places we ended up walking in to Allora who could give us a table in 20 mins. I wasn't expecting anything special reading the last review but we were pleasantly surprised. No it wasn't anything out of the ordinary but... More

The chef's special chicken livers were completely overdone. My lamb shank tasted as though it had been cooked a few days earlier my wife's fish was OK but all was smothered in tomato sauce. I ordered red wine with my starter but it arrived long after my main course and was corked. That's not the restaurant's fault but trying to... More

Had the T-Bone and Wife had Prawn Risotto, steak was a memorable one and Risotto was truly delicious. Would gladly eat again, good atmosphere and super friendly staff, mentioning staff, waiter asked if wanted any beers, wine and I asked if restaurant had a sommelier? to which he replied "I think we do sparkling wine.. yes" Besides all that meal... This was a second time at this restaurant, it's a must to book as they get very busy and with this being open on the Sunday its popular. The food is delicious and the service was very quick, I arrived about 6pm so was early and therefore they did serve us quickly, the restaurant started to fill up from 7:30pm... More

Horrible food: unedible pasta with seafood (pasta+vongole: both bad freezer quality) pizza also awful. Staff friendly but uninterested (didnt have to pay for food without even a single negative word- they knew...), wine okay; but why go if the food is so bad?! So many other nice places; AVOID at all cost.
