My wife and I had breakfast. The service was good. The "Full English Breakfast" was good. I enjoyed the bread and strawberry jam. The scenery and location is perfect for a mid-summers day. Id come again to try the rest of the menu.

We enjoyed a lovely lunch of salad and fish on the river terrace with friendly, efficient service. I would certainly recommend it as a great stopping spot.

We were booked into this very reasonably priced restaurant on the way back to Cape Town from our Garden Route tour and the food was good. I enjoyed a lasagne, which was very tasty, followed by a very tasty cheesecake and fruit coulis. The food isn't high end but is tasty, the portion size is good and it's very reasonable... More

5 of us went for lunch after a trip down route 62. We sat on the deck overlooking the river. The service was good, the menu tantalizing and food when it arrived excellent. We will be back.

Great place to stop for lunch if traveling from Cape Town to the garden route. Prompt friendly service and a very pleasant terrace. Food was very good too.

We enjoyed a wonderful lazy, light lunch sitting in the shade of the trees with the river gently flowing below.

In one of our walks in Swellendam we got curious at this small place by the river, that seemed be full of local people and no tourists in sight. If the locals like it, it must be good. We went onto a pleasant balcony in the garden overhanging the river in the shade under the trees. I noticed that some... More

After reading some of the negative comments here I was hesitant about going to this restaurant today but as we were invited guests, it wasn't my choice to make. It turned out to be a really nice lunch. Lovely ambience, food was simple but good. Yes service was slow but it isn't a fast food restaurant and was actually nice... More

La Belle Alliance hasn't disappointed me yet – good, solid food. There is a reason this restaurant is a busy spot in Swellendam. We always aim to sit on the deck overlooking the river and have enjoyed eating here every time.
