If you are looking for a great place to have probably the national dish of Bali (would a dish from Bali be called National- as it is a part of Indonesia? But I digress😁)- look no further.
Dhika, our man Friday in Bali recommended this as the better of the two places to have Babi Guleng (suckling pig). The other is in Semanyak.
The place was full of locals, which is a big tick for me. You order at the counter and try and grab a place to sit. Fine dining it is not.
I went for the set dish with all the works. Couldn’t resist trying spare ribs, but that was gluttony as portions are generous.
The food was served in a single plate with various portions of pork, green vegetable, sambal and of course the crackling. There was a delicious broth served alongside, with a huge depth of flavour with succulent bits of pork in it.
Taste beyond description- spicy but balanced. Pork was cooked to perfection and the crackling - I kept some for the end - almost as a dessert.
If you are looking for authentic taste, experience and ambience, this will delight you. If fine dining is what you are after, don’t venture here. You have to queue to order and keep looking out for a spare seat or table. Didn’t see any mixed groups at the same table, but I won’t be surprised if that was the norm, specially at peak times.
Food was so good that I will definitely go back on the day I fly. It’s about 10-15 min to the airport from there.

We headed out to Warung Babi Guling Pak Malen as it was highly recommended by the workers in our Villa and the best in Seminyak.
This is a open warungand must try for anyone who loves roasted and fried pork.
Unfortunately, I don't do spicy, and they can make it Non-Spicy, yay!
The workers there are friendly and this warung is quite big. It can seat up to 60 ppl.
We were a party of 3 and this place was crowded and we were seated quickly.
Service was fast and friendly. More locals here, and a handful of tourist.
We ordered 3 Babi Guling ( 1 regular, 1 medium spicy and 1 non-spicy). 1 Bintang, 1 water and 1 sprite. The order came with a soup (medium spicy)
I also ordered a crispy pork skin snack in a bag.
The total came out to 198,000 IDK ($13.16 USD)
I definitely recommend this place.
For any American Friends for California, Babi Guling is like the asian version of Mexican Carnitas on rice with chicharones!

Last end of April we had early dinner here, at Babi Guling (Bagul) Pak Malen at Sunset Road, Kuta. The place is simple, with basic amenities. Service was extra fast, and the Babi Guling was really delicious and enjoyable - be warned that it’s really spicy (they actually has non spicy version if you preferred but not sure id it’ll be as good as the normal spicy version).
The price is reasonable, at Rp 40k per set, they only serve one menu so not difficult at all to choose.
I would strongly recommend this place if you like Babi Guling Bali.

The cuisine is quite enjoyable—I opted for Nasi Special and Sate Babi, both delicious. The pricing is reasonable, falling between inexpensive and costly. However, the ambiance is a drawback; it’s oddly dark in the afternoon, and despite the AC, it tends to be uncomfortably warm.

Very good Babi guling. Sambal goes very well with the pork and it just tastes so good. We had the special menu set but the portion was quite small and definitely not enough. Left us wanting more!
The con for this place is that it’s a bit pricier than the other Babi guling places but it’s definitely worth a try. So far one of the best I’ve had

We were recommended to go here by several locals. We all walked to get here as we weren’t staying too far away and there were 16 of us so transport may have been difficult!
It wasn’t full but there were locals in there eating. We all ordered our food and drinks and waited for it to arrive.
Some ordered spicy and some didn’t. It came out and looked great. All different bits of the pig served in different ways. Yum. Rice and broth on the side. With a Bintang, to wash it down of course!
Not everyone liked it. Some found it too spicy so could’t eat it all. I loved it. Delicious.

Had high expectations after seeing it on a blog online. Portion was a bit on the small side but the crackling was crispy and pork tender.
A bit spicy for the foreign palate but with a refreshing drink all good.
Good to know is that there is no menu, we paid 40k for one portion.

This is the restaurant if you love suckling pig skin. Just order the traditional Babi Guling (suckling pig). I am not sure if I liked it but the pork meat and crispy meat is not bad. Had to try once since it is a popular dish in Bali...

Came here for dinner on my last day in Bali. I loved it! You can asked to put the chili aside if you can’t really eat spicy food. The price is pretty cheap. It’s only 40.000 idr. Definitely will go back there if I go to Bali.

Babi Guling Pak Malen
Babi Guling hits when it is in Seminyak, you can't order it because the service here isn't as friendly as the other Babi Buling. Just enough how much you want to drink and what portion orsi a very full portion, too much side dishes can add more rice. MANDATORY ask for green sauce, yes, go straight to the storefront, don't call the waiter.

Was hoping to try a national delicacy after reading positive posts off trip advisor. Off the beaten track a little but had very welcoming staff. Was given only one choice of meal. The rice concerned me as precooked sitting out in heat for how long I couldn’t tell. A couple of pieces of meat so small and dry I couldn’t tell if it was pig , plus a small bowl of broth. Broth was the best part of this dish as the rest was inedible. Huge disappointment and sorry I dragged my husband all that way for me to leave it on the table. Sorry cannot recommend this place.

Loved every bite of it. We went to the actual warung on the first day but found it easier to gojek on the other days whilst we were on holidays. We had it 4 times on our 8 day trip to Bali.
If you are not able to take the heat of the spiciness, just ensure not to mix everything in! Then you can control the level of heat.

Been to this place a few times. It was at a convenient place seminyak. I would say it was alright, i prefer at nusa dua pak dobiel compared to this. Anyways it is a personal preference. You can skip this place without missing anything.

This is the Indonesian version of the legendary Philippines Lechon.
Very juicy and tasty. The price is reasonable and it’s a must if you visit Bali.
