After a day on the beach we found this resturant. And if you are on a budget it is very rare that you will find these kind of places 50m from hhe beach. Very kindly staff that waved every morning on our way to the...More

Very 'local' type of restaurant with local prices. We had a whole big fish each for about £3. Amazing. We ate here on a second occasion and I had fried rice which was delicious. Portions are generous.

Took a cab down and it was coincidentally on the same street as one of the Spa/Massage place also reviewed in TripAdvisor. Environment: Vintage and homely. Flies are around but just a few. You will be eating under a metal-roof which roared when it rained....More

It's a corrugated iron shed. It wouldn't look appealing anywhere else but it works here and if it puts you off, absolutely don't let it. We paid 195,000 VND for two beers, filled squid, squid with lemongrass and chilli, prawn pho and prawn fried rice....More

Okay, so you are basically eating in a metal shack with zero ambiance, but the food is fantastic! My husband and I went here for both dinner and breakfast and we had a great experience both times. For dinner, we had the fish curry and...More

Randomly stumbled at this place as it is right behind PB House where we were staying. Ate there 2-3 times a day, not one bad meal. Squid and shrimp with chili and lemongrass is out of this world, so is stuffed squid. For bkfst the...More

Take our word for it please - we come from the land of good food, Singapore. This humble, completely unassuming restaurant is one of the BEST we've ever eaten in all our travels & that's saying something. Granted the 'ambience' may not entirely be the...More

A wee hidden treasure of phu quoc. The food is extremely well prepared, completely delicious and excellently priced. The seafood is by far the best we have eaten in vietnam. I would go back to phu quoc for this restaurant alone!

As much as I would like to keep the Hieu all to myself I know that they deserve all the business that comes their way. The food is inexpensive and great! The ambiance is decidedly basic Vietnamese but the service is wonderful and something as...More

The location is about 200 meters up the small alleyway right next to the Canary Hostel at 103 Tran Hung Dao St. The map marker can be set at 103 Tran Hung Dao St., since the alleyway doesn't even show on the map.

Description
Hieu's Family Restaurant has been in operation for 24 years. It began when the family provided food on the beach for the few early tourists to Phu Quoc. There was not even a building at the beginning, just chairs on the beach. In time the family rented space to serve tourists, but each time in each location, the rent was increased, so the family had to move. Still the regulars managed to find it each time they returned. "The food is so good and so inexpensive, why eat anywhere else?" This is a common comment about Hieu's. Finally the restaurant has found a permanent home in a lovely garden attached to the family house. Though more off the beaten path, the regulars are still finding it and telling others. The restaurant is now located off Tran Hung Dao St., about 200 meters up the small alley next to Canary Hostel. Look for the big green sign that says Canary, and head up the hill.
