I really wanted to like this place because of all the great reviews and especially because it is on "Historic Route 66," which I love. The atmosphere was interesting with saddles and all kinds of western things, and it was nice and dim--just the way a dinner place should be, so I was happy to be there! But then our... More

We read reviews of restaurants on TA before our road trip passing through Gallup. This place had good reviews so we gave it a try. What a disappointment. The bread served was mediocre and cold.We both had the filet mignon dinner and while mine was good, my spouse said he's had better at Outback. Salad was basic, soup was mediocre..... More

Based on all the great reviews, we stopped here for dinner. I ordered a half rack of ribs for $25.00. If I got 2 ounces of meat off the bones, after a considerable struggle, I would be surprised. The waiter said he was sorry and then gave us the bill. Sorry, not sorry. Actually, the rest of our food was... More

We had just driven 600 miles, checked in to our hotel, and Leo at the front desk suggested Badlands for dinner. Locally owned, and great food he said. We had a wonderful experience at your restaurant!! Food was fabulous, Johanna our server as well as the entire staff was welcoming and attentive, and we loved the atmosphere. Perfect ending to... We had a lovely meal, it was graciously served and beautifully presented. We had the BBQ ribs and the meat literally fell off the bone it was so tender. We found the chocolate mouse delicious and large enough for us to share.

On our way to West, we stayed the night in Gallup and wanted a good meal. We try to avoid the chains and read about this place online. Turns out they make sure you learn about them as the waitress gives you a business card with her name and a request for a review on Trip Advisor or Facebook. Smart... More

If you are in Gallup New Mexico, or just passing through, and you don’t go to Badlands Grill you are definitely missing out. The steak and seafood menu is comprehensive, the food is excellent and plentiful without being overwhelming to us non-US people. They have a list of “toppers” to delight, including those made from Trinidad Scorpions and Ghost Naga,... More

Good food, nice atmosphere and very attentive staff. Kudos to Johanna, especially. There was a large beer menu ranging from domestic to craft beers. The marinara sauce on the pasta was excellent and the portions we more than adequate.

Description
Not a chain, Badlands offers true New Mexico hospitality and taste- for those of you traveling through, it's the place where locals go when they want a meal that's truly a cut above the rest, and relax with friends and neighbors. There's no dress code...no pretentiousness...just beef that's been wet-aged for 21 days, cut in-house and cooked to order...combine these with an ice cold beer or excellent bottle of wine... and you've got the stuff a cattleman's dreams are made of!
