The Hollar was recommended to us by a local merchant, we walked to the other end of town and enjoyed a fine afternoon, good food and some entertainment also. Pet friendly too.

I've now visited The Hollar twice, both time to enjoy a late lunch as I made the trek from ABQ to Santa Fe. Today's lunch was as delightfully delicious as last time. We enjoyed the fried okra appetizer and today's featured entree (brisket ad coleslaw...More

First things first... they are super pet friendly, which is awesome in the New Mexican heat. We were allowed to sit in a large, shaded outdoor seating with our pup. Our server brought him his own dog bowl of water, and was very friendly to...More

Asking the townspeople, "Where should we eat?" I repeatedly got the answer, "The Hollar". Sitting at an outdoor table, we delighted in the local color. The waitstaff was friendly and helpful, and encouraged us to try the fried green tomatoes and their famous smoked brisket...More

Questions & AnswersAsk a question
For those complaining here about the restaurant charging for water and refills on soft drinks please understand that Madrid has terrible mineral laden water that requires expensive filtration to improve its taste to something you'd consider acceptable to drink. For this reason, most dining places in town either sell bottled water or (if they've gone to the expense of installing expensive double reverse osmosis filtration) charge for it to cover their costs. You are in the desert folks - clean water is a precious and very limited resource.

I do not mind paying for water as I live in another desert area but the resturants here at least let us know if they charge for water or refills when or before we order. Most have it posted in a place everyone can see or on... More

I would call the restaurant directly and ask that question. I have no idea if they do whole cakes or the charge for that.
