Do not let the western sounding name of this restaurant or the very large ITALIAN RESTAURANT sign on the outside put you off. There is a real chef here cooking outstanding Italian cuisine and the decor itself is delightful with rod iron furniture and white tablecloths. We had 2 of the lunch specials. One was pasta with seafood in a... More

We had lunch outside on the back patio for my father's birthday. It was a beautiful day, and even though the patio wasn't officially open, they set up a table for us. Our pastas were delicious, and everyone we dealt with was gracious and welcoming. The interior is atmospheric, the patio is lovely if the weather is nice. Highly recommended.

Hubby and I went Tuesday Feb. 23, and had the Tues.- Thurs. $12 3 course special which we shared and he ordered a BOWL of Chicken noodle soup - WOW! This giant hand-thrown bowl arrived and looked like a still life of food. Color, texture, aroma, taste of the gorgeous veggies and plenty of succulent chicken meat made it a... More

Lots of history in the building and area, thick adobe walls and a great atmosphere. More parking around back if you come during busy hours. Have eaten here a few times, enjoyed the pork and beef dishes more than the chicken for what it's worth (bird was a little bland).

Over last 3-years, dined here several times when visiting Taos 3-4/year. By far the best Italian food in an area that has otherwise poor Italian options. Other non-Italian offerings are very good too. Their bread-basket is great (most restaurants are poor in this area), w/tasty dipping options on your table. They even re-fill your basket cheerfully as often as you... More

Just as you enter Taos from the south is a nondescript building with a lettered sign proclaiming "italian food". You can easily miss it if not looking. Inside the building is a bar, cozy fireplace and several dining rooms with an eclectic design. Choose to sit in the main room if you can. The menu is extensive and features mainly... More

We've been coming to the Trading Post Cafe for over 20 years now to enjoy satisfying Italian comfort food. The owner-chef is legendary, as others have described, but that's literally ancient history when compared to the high quality, freshly made dishes available on any given day. Highly recommend stopping by on your way into town.

We have a small second home in the north part of Taos, so although we have passed this Italian restaurant many times on the way into Taos from the South, we had not eaten there. That will change! Started out with the normal bread basket - except it was not normal. So good we purchased a loaf as we left.... More

This is a place that I have been going for years. The food was very good as usual. The service left a little to be desired but over all it was s perfectly satisfactory experience.

My friend and I came in late (after watching a political TV debate) on night so slow night that the owner/chef had let all but a few staff go home and turned off the overs. However, not only did she offer us a selection of items from the menu that she could still prepare, but she made us feel totally... More
