Try the trout- it's really special. But the rib eye was simply outstanding. Grilled romaine salad was memorable- I even took a pic. Nice wine list. Friendly waitress. I've eaten in many upscale restaurants and El Meze measured up very well. Sadly it was too cold this week to eat on the terrace- would have loved that. Only criticism: As... More

The chef's a James Beard winner and you'll soon know why with the varied menu selections. I got the charbroied trout which was absulutely done to perfection. The wait staff knew their stuff, answere questions on how the meal was prepared and what wines to pair with each entree. Service was impeccable. A true dining experience.

Our usual place, Orlando's, was packed (it was before 6pm) so we headed back towards town and saw this place that we had noticed when we passed it going to Orlando's. There were not a lot of cars in the parking lot so we quickly checked Trip Advisor and decided to give it a try. The service was wonderful. The... More

We ate here our first night in Taos and it was a good dining experience. The food is very good and the location, while a bit outside of town, was worth the short trip. Menu is small but very tasty although some of the dishes are spicy. All the food and desserts were great.

Went on recommendation of B & B. Was a little concerned when we saw location. We were pleasantly surprised. Service was great and food was even better. Only disappointment was no full bar (wine/beer only) but we found this at several other restaurants. Grilled romaine salad and local tomato salad were really wonderful.

We very much enjoyed El Meze. Food was creatively prepared, and appealed to our need for healthy options. We were very pleased to find this restaurant and highly recommend. It is not Mexican/ New Mexican food, but there are lots of good places in Taos for that.

This place was recommended to us by friends who live in Santa Fe. We like short menu, farm-to-table restaurants and this fit that description. The menu selections were imaginative and well prepared. The preparation and recipes seemed to be a fusion of Southwest Cocina and northern Spain. The wine menu is selective and has a decent price range. Our waiter... More

El Meze has a somewhat limited menu, but all of the selections we chose were memorable. Subtle flavors of the Southwest via Spain; portions generous. Emphasis on fresh local ingredients (tomatoes were in season when we visited). Service was friendly and helpful--could list all of the ingredients in one sauce from memory, for example. The restaurant has won a James... More

This restaurant was recommended by the staff at our hotel, El Monte Sagrado. The front desk couldn't quite give the restaurant a classification, but assured my husband and me that we would enjoy. I think it's Spanish - verging on tapas - large plate not small plate. Don't let the small menu selection discourage you. We had a decadent plate... More

We had dinner at El Meze on a quiet Fall night in Taos. We had a cozy corner table and a very attentive waiter. We jumped at the special which was a plate of local tomatoes (Thank you, Taomato Farm), olive oil and local goat cheese. The Frijoles de olla is a unique and delicious dish with bolita beans, cheddar... More
