We have friends in Taos who took us to their favorite restaurant El Meze. The wait staff know our friends and had very personalized service, however by observing others during dinner I do not think that this was out of the ordinary. Being a transplanted NM to the Midwest I just had to order the chicharrones and Tamale; I was... More

The restaurant and the service were spot on. I agree there is no better restaurant in Taos. The four of us shared small plates of fried green olives, herb frites, and chicharrones. New Mexico is the land of chicharrones but these were the very best we have ever tried. Probably not good for you but they were excellent. A very... More

First time and one of the best meals ever. Ate on the patio facing the Taos Mountains. Heaters and blankets keep us warm and cozy. Wait staff was warm and friendly. Very knowledgable regarding wine selections and food preparation. The Beef Short Ribs were highly recommended by our waitress and amazing in flavor. Homemade vanilla ice cream with basil and... We were very much looking forward to eating here, the #1 rated Taos restaurant. It wasn't bad, but definitely not #1 caliber in our opinion. Atmosphere was fine, service was decent. Food was only average, though; very highly seasoned to the point that the seasoning was about all we could taste. Maybe it was an off night, or we ordered... More

This is a delightful restaurant on the outskirts of Taos. We enjoyed our dinner from their large patio with a beautiful view of the mountains. Everything was delicious. We started out with the special--green beans sauteed in olive oil with hazelnuts, garlic, and bleu cheese. Absolutely yummy. We also enjoyed the Frijolles de Olla, the garden tomato salad, and a... We were four for dinner as first time visitors and all were pleased with both the quality of the food and the service. The setting is quite special with a great view of the sacred mountain to the east and we were warm outside although the evening was coming on cool. Gas heaters did the trick until they could not... Don't get put off by the name...this isn't tex-mex...or, at least to the extent that it is, it's upscale and excellent. I read a number of reviews on TA and Yelp before selecting this restaurant during an overnight in Taos...so glad we went with it....doesn't look too hot from the road, but interior is nicely appointed and there is a... This is the number one rated restaurant on Tripadvisor, that's why we picked it. I had high expectations given the number of amazing reviews. First, the outdoor seating is a must, the view of the mountains is wonderful. The service was great as well. We had the short ribs for an appetizer, they were covered in a red chili sauce,... More

Outstanding view and garden. Tasty food. Their heirloom tomatoes were even better than my homegrown. The tamale is a bargain. Fabulous wine for $34. Cost for 2, $76 plus tax plus tip.

My daughter and I traveled to Taos last week and ate here on our last evening. I wish we would have known about it sooner, because we would have gone there more than once. First of all, it is in an old hacienda built in the mid 1800s, and secondly the view of the mountains from the patio is so... More
