We ordered the quiche, oh my, it was delicious along with the salad. Crème Brûlée was perfect. The chocolate mousse was enough for 2 people. We also ordered specialty coffee that didn’t disappointment. Recommend this restaurant.

We had made reservations weeks in advance to celebrate our anniversary. While we have lived in central NY for some time, we had never been to the Brewster Inn, but had heard many good things about it. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. While the...host acknowledged our anniversary and offered us a choice of a fireplace or porch table, that was about as far as it went. Our waiter (Steven, Stephen?) never asked if we had ever been there, or offered to tell us how the menu worked. He was borderline belligerent when we inquired about the "Taste of Caz" menu, and acted as if we were being unreasonable when we asked about the other specials. When I politely asked if I may have silverware when my soup arrived, he practically threw it at me. In addition, he was inattentive, and we did not see him between courses. For example, when I requested a glass of wine to accompany my main course... it never came. I finally ended up canceling the request when I had finished my meal, and asked for our check. We waited 20 minutes for the check to arrive, only to be asked if we wanted dessert when he finally returned. And then I had to wait another 5-10 minutes for my check to finally arrive. To make matters worse, when I provided this feedback to the host, I received a half hearted "sorry" in response, with no attempt to make amends. I have never experienced such bad service. And here's the thing... it should have been a lay-up for the staff. We were there for our anniversary - we were looking forward to a nice evening including a bottle of wine, appetizers, a lovely main course, and dessert. It would have been a win-win for everyone. But Steven/Stephen? dropped the ball, and made no effort to recover. The host, made no effort to recover. Maybe they don't need to - maybe they don't care... Maybe they have an unending line of people who have the means and the desire to dine there. That was certainly my impression when we left. I was a waiter and bartender while in college, working in fine dining. We used to say there were three keys to success in the business: a great menu, ambience and great service. Back in the day, you needed to have at least two out of the three to be successful. But after my experience this weekend, I'd maintain that without great service, nothing else matters. The Brewster Inn has a terrific location, a beautiful view, and the food was terrific. Unfortunately, all of this was undermined by the failure of two individuals... What a shame.More

The staff was unfriendly at best and some members of the staff were downright rude. The hostesses completed their conversation for a few minutes before acknowledging my family and I standing at their stand waiting to be greeted. They seemed put out to seat us....No friendly smile. No “enjoy your meal” or “how was everything?” The food was pretty good and some of our meals were actually delicious. Unfortunately, it took a very long time for it to come out of the kitchen despite the fact that we had a reservation. This might be due to the fact that clearly our table was crammed into the dining area as an afterthought. It completely blocked the wine rack and part of the walkway for the servers and guests. Some of the guests at the bar were obviously intoxicated however it it was the holidays so… Unfortunately, three separate times dishware from the bar hit the floor, making a ruckus. For a quaint town in upstate New York, barely on any map, you would think a hometown and friendly welcoming vibe would exist, but that was not our experience. None of the people working in the hotel could ever be employed by Nordstrom’s. So if you want a good meal that takes an hour to come out of the kitchen and be seated by a hostess with an attitude with a noisy bar this restaurants for you!More

Outstanding service, food and atmosphere! Sat in the main dining room which was comfortable and pleasantly decorated for the holidays. The bar area was a little too loud for an intimate dinner. We started with their focaccia bread/pesto oil which was served warm, and house...salads. For entrees we highly recommend the salmon which was cooked perfectly and delicious. We also had the pork chop which was very tender and also cooked to perfection with a slight pink center. They also have an extensive wine list that was reasonably priced.More

The Brewster Inn is a special occasion restaurant for us, and the occasion this past Sunday was my birthday. Love the food, no question. Love the atmosphere. Again, no question. Beautiful night with beautiful scenery. Our server, Steve, was another thing. From the start, he...seemed very standoffish. Didn’t introduce himself, and when my date asked him his name, he said he didn’t introduce himself, because “everybody knows me.“ No smile no wink no nod. Dismissive. A couple of other things come to mind as well. Never offered grated cheese for my pasta dish. That’s usually a must. And he never came back to make sure that everything was OK after he had served our apps and main courses. That is definitely a must. Instead, he basically dropped the food and disappeared. Even when he brought a to go container for the rest of my main course, he couldn’t even see fit to put the top on the container after he had put it in. This will probably not keep us from coming back. But what we will do is ask for any server, but Steve. This place is a high end restaurant that my date has been coming to for at least 40 years. She has never experienced anybody as dismissive in her long dining experience here. again the food is wonderful and so is the atmosphere. The service needs to be, not 50%, not 75% but 100% and with the long dollar we pay to eat here, servers should be glad we’re there. The better the service, the better their tip. And the more likely people are to come back. I know the management reads these comments and I hope you will take this as constructive criticism and take it to heart. Thank you.More

Had a lovely time@the Brewster Inn,the grounds and lake front property are stunning and so serene to sit by the lake in the rocking chairs which is a really nice touch. We sat@the outside bar (very friendly great staff) Had a salad and truffle fries,the...portions should be a wee bit more substantial for the price. No vegetarian or vegan options on the dinner menu which was disappointing so went with the salad and fries. No bread anymore🤷🏻‍♀️ Atmosphere is lively and a beautiful spot to spend an evening.More

Brewster Inn... If you want to relax and unwind - this is a place to go. This is what we were always thinking... until the last visit. I guess changes in the economy and inflation touched even places like Brewster Inn Restaurant. No, the visit...was good and memorable, the waiter, Zach, was great, however there are a couple things that are worth mentioning. 1. Appetizer menu as always was excellent, however, we noticed that dinner menu became sort of stagnant, and the specials were not as impressive as before but we would still recommend Sea Bass. It is always great there. My wife selected it and enjoyed it a lot! 2. I decided to go off the regular path and went with Prime Beef. That night it was a 20 oz. Ribeye. Boy, was I disappointed!!! I ordered medium like I always do. When Zach brought it over, I looked at it and my heart went down. It was black outside. I asked to cut it and when I started cutting it, I realized that first of all, the quality of the meat was not of what is expected from the restaurant of this level (Outback has better meat quality!!!) and secondly, it was overdone. I told Zach about this. He suggested replacing and took it back to the kitchen. To my surprise he came back with the same steak and told me that the chef said it was the way how the medium is done at Brewster. The best that restaurant would offer to me is not to charge for it. Thank you, Chef! ☹ I told Zach that I would not touch this “steak”, since I could not even cut it. This is how hard and chew it was. I just left it on the plate. I took a couple of pieces of Sea Bass that my wife ordered. As I said earlier, it was great!!! It was my wife’s birthday, so I did not make a big deal out of this to allow the evening to continue flow nicely. In my opinion, the chef’s response was totally inappropriate for the restaurant of this level. Brewster, you are the great place, please do not go cheap and if you charge $60+ for the steak, at least get a good quality meat and cook it right. Arguing with the customer also does not make you look good. This is why 3 stars. To finish on a good note… Restaurant is good place, great bottle wine selection, excellent atmosphere, and the view. Most of the staff deserves the applaud!More

Called in take out order for dinner, had a fish dinner and pulled pork sandwich and two desserts. The fish dinner and sweet potatoe fries were good. The pulled pork was dry. Both desserts were good. The coleslaw was of poor quality and very dry...almost like eating cabbage with no slaw dressing on it. New to the area this was our first attempt with the Brewster we might be back for a special dinner but not sure we want to waste our time and money for something that might be substandard.More

Our friends took us here for dinner last night and we had a great time. Neat old building on the lake with lots of inside & outside seating. Decent menu, wihth lots to choose from. My buddy & I had the striped bass special, which...we both enjoyed. His wife had the salmon and mine the Chicken Piccata, both of which were good. The service wasn't bad, and since my buddy wouldn't let me pay, I can't comment on the prices. Very nice place for a special dinner, or just a fun night out.More

We stayed at the inn and had dinner that night. It was late October, but mild weather, They had the tent up with inferred heaters which made it very comfortable. Our server, Steve was excellent, very helpful and knowledgeable. We started with oysters, which where...great. The wine list is very impressive and fairly priced. My halibut was excellent, but my wife's crabcake was not surprisingly disappointing. We would come back again.More

We were there to celebrate with a friend and wanted someplace nice. I realize this is a high end restaurant and expected to pay substantially for the privilege of eating there however when a server cites specials without prices be sure to ask for them....I was shocked when we got our check to see that a ribeye, half of which was fat and inedible, came in at $64 when the lobster pasta was $42. Additionally I would expect the server to be more attentive. We never had our drink needs checked and had to get her attention several times when needed. I'm not sure I'll be going back.More
