I highly recommended against table service and eating at this place!! Terrible customer service, long waits on food, dirty crockery and cutlery!! Staff with bad attitudes

We were in the area checking out the local western riding centre and wanted to find somewhere for lunch, so we picked a country lane and hoped for the best, and "as if by magic" we came across the Merry Harriers. We were greeted with a friendly welcome and found a seat and our order was taken. We had the... More

Went for a lovely bank holiday meal out, unfortunately we went here. Food - pizzas, someone in the kitchen must have accidentally tipped ALL the Italian seasoning on them, Brie and bacon sandwich this was okay, chicken breast with dauphinoise potatoes, needs some work. Also, withj a half empty restaurant we were put next to the back the door with... More

On the recommendation of Alistair Sawday’s Inns and Pubs Guide 2016 (usually a reliable source of good food/hospitality), we lunched yesterday at the Merry Harriers. However, we were sorely disappointed as the food was poor, especially given the price. We ordered 4 Sunday roasts (beef and pork). The beef was gristly and tough, and while the pork was OK the... Dinner was booked for myself and three friends for a Friday evening. A good selection of well kept beers. We tried the Dark Star Hophead; Surrey Hills Shere Drop and Long Man Old Man. All three were excellent. Dinner was far above our expectations. For starters we had a meat platter to share and Harriers rarebit. Both were lovely. The... More

Visited this pub mid week with a walking group. This is a long established unpretentious country pub. The names of previous owners spanning several centuries adorn the walls. We were made welcome and a table had been prepared for us as I had advised them in advance. I had the daily special which was a gammon steak. The portion was... More

We recently stopped for lunch at this old pub to try it out for the future. The staff were very welcoming and the ambience was very convivial. Liked the fact that the pub felt well lived-in and that they hadn't attempted a gastro-pub renovation. Food was all very good and freshly cooked. We will definitely be coming here again!

Took ages to get served. We had booked for 2 30. Ate at 3 45. They were pleasant about it but it still messed up our day a bit. Having said that it's a nice pub.

Not this time. Will put it down to a bad day in the kitchen. Had to wait nearly an hour for food, mostly just roasts. Roast was tough, over-cooked, dry, and only a single slice.
