I am a local resident and have been to most of the many restaurants in the area. The living room, which is expensive, offers very few choices, small portions, and quality is only fair. Instead of herbs and seasonings, everything is drenched in butter or some other kind of fat. The main room offers hard uncomfortable seating and wobbly tables.... More

The Maidstone Inn is a staple for East Hampton. The living room's food is terrific, very friendly staff. Best of all are their desserts. Normally one is shared, but not on the night we dined there. We each had our own.

I've been to the Living Room several times and the food is just not good. Pork Tacos as an appetizer were bland & shrimp salad was not fresh. The main course of duck breast lacked flavor but a sea bass dish was better. Toffee Cake was good but ryun-of-the-mill. A strawberry shortcake has a biscuit that was so hard, we... More

Had dinner with a friend. Food is supposed to be "new Swedish", but actually isn't. I had Swedish meatballs, but nothing to write home about. My friend had duck, which was prepared French style with an orange sauce. His dish was better.

The place is beautifully done and the servers were knowledgeable and good. The food was tasty but the portions were too small. Two of the people at my party had the cavatelli and it came in what looked like an appetizer bowl. My lamb was delicious and there were three chops but there was an upcharge on the Prix Fixe... My wife & I went to The Living Room for the Tea Service. We had been there once before for lunch. We had also gone to the original Maidstone Arms restaurant years ago which was wonderful. Our waitress was very pleasant but was poorly trained. There was no menu offered for the Tea Service food and no explanation of the... More

Unfortunately our lunch was very disappointing. The service was slow and the waiter seemed to be inexperienced. In my opinion he should have been able to handle the few tables he had without to much difficulty. We both had the seasonal soup and a caesar kale salad. The soup was served just barely warm with a good size piece of... More

Two Sundays ago we came here for the Brunch and ordered 2 cheeseburgers, a pot of hot tea and 2 coca colas. The wait before the food arrived was close to 30 minutes and the burger itself, while tasty, was mostly bun with scant traces of gruyere cheese. There was a huge draft in the room which a diner at... This restaurant has a great location inside the iconic Maidstone Arms. If you're looking for a place that is reminiscent of the quaintness of East Hampton, keep on looking. But, if you want a place with a modern vibe and a simple menu, then stop in for a while. The menu is limited, the portions are small, and the prices... More

We have driven past the Maidstone Inn a million times and today we made the decision to eat lunch there. What a mistake. The menu for lunch on Sunday is pretty limited. If you aren't interested in breakfast - we weren't - it was 1:30pm - choices are pretty limited. We both opted for the burger which at $27 one... More

At the Living Room, we identify the freshest and most naturally produced foods, creating world-class menu selections from what can be purchased through local, organic producers. This is the slow-food philosophy at work, and we believe it makes for the best-tasting meals in the Hamptons. Our chef uses the slow-food process to "cook with the seasons", coming up with mouth-watering menus of cuisine he calls "new American with a Scandinavian twist". Signature dishes include Scandinavian classics like Toast Skagen and exquisite desserts like Spring Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp with homemade honey vanilla gelato and Catapano Goat Cheese Tarte with homemade lingonberry sorbet. To complement, you can choose from more than 200 vintages from our extensive wine cellar. From local Long Island varietals to organic Oregonian boutique blends and standards from Europe, there is a wine for every mood and food at The Living Room.
