Excellent breakfast that was clearly made to order from scratch by people that know how to cook. Friendly service in a recently renovated restaurant. The pictures on the wall of Schroon Lake in the 40s and 50s were so much fun to look at. I...also highly recommend.More
I've been coming to Pitkins since 1967, for great breakfasts, and for great BBQ pork and beef, broiled trout and outstanding desserts. The new owners expanded but in ways that preserved the vibe. Three visits in October (one dinner, two breakfasts) and all met my...best hopes. Best blueberry pancakes anywhere. The pie was great, and the BBQ sauce is still Randy Rice's recipe, I'm sure. One big plus is the addition of an outside dining patio.More
Stopped there today after a drive through the Adirondacks. We had been here years ago, and were thrilled to see all the changes that have been made. Beautiful inside, and ample outside seating. I ordered the onion soup and a Reuben, my husband ordered the...tomato basil soup which was the soup of the day, with the pulled pork Reuben. Very tasty, corned beef was lean, pulled pork had an nice amount of sauce. Service was friendly and fast. Look forward to returning to this gem.More
This restaurant is a gem!!! The food is homemade and delicious!! Portions are plentiful!!! Had dinner and breakfast. Both where 5 star ⭐️!! The staff are pleasant and accommodating. We will definitely be back!
We stayed in Schroon Lake for a weekend and ended up eating 2 dinners and 2 breakfasts at Pitkins. They have a patio for outdoor dining, which we loved. Breakfasts were excellent and we enjoyed waffles with fruit, and french toast. For dinner, the ribs...were very good, along with potato salad. I had a burger one night, which I didn't like as much as it didn't really have a grilled taste. But dessert was great! The service was friendly and quick. We would definitely eat here again.More
Pitkin's Restaurant in Schroon Lake, NY has been around since 1907. Their customers are loyal locals and loyal summer vacationers. Pitkin's is a favorite breakfast stop. It's consistent, friendly, & delightfully cosy. We've had many a fine breakfast here going back to the early 1960s....The recently retired owner, Marie has been the reason for it's success. Attention to detail, prompt friendly service at a great value price. Marie's pies are the talk of the town. She is still making them every morning. Younger relatives have taken over the business and are keeping with the tradition of great service and adding a few new items to the menu. This winter's renovation really put a new face on the old girl. Also they put in a patio for outdoor dining - a real plus during the pandemic.
We had dinner here on Sat 8/08/20. We don't usually go out to dinner because we cook at camp often. But after a hard day of work we treated ourselves. Pitkin's has been know for years for their excellent Texas-style BBQ brisket. But sadly they were sold out this evening. The four of us had French onion soup ($5) , Caesar salad ($8), side of French fries ($3), meatloaf w/ pot & veg ($15), chicken bruschetta pasta ($15), and shrimp fra Diavolo. Meals were presented well, hot, and less than a 20 minute wait. It was busy a dinner time (we came at 6:40pm. Only one critique Shrimp dish was well prepared, shrimp were firm, lotsa chunky tomatoes but there wasn't any Diabolo in it. I let it go due to the present circumstances. Wait staff was very attentive and met all needs.
The next morning, Sun 8/09/20 0830, we had breakfast outdoors at the same table. Short stack of blueberry pancakes w/ two sausage patties ($7.50), French toast w/ sausage ($8), veggie omelette w/ toast ($10), and a Good Morning Bowl of yogurt, fruit & granola ($7). All very good. Pitkin's has always served great breakfasts.
Hours are 7:30am-8:00pm seven days a week.
We do enjoy our visits to Pitkin's and we'll see you next time. Thank you to Marie for your hospitality over the years, Adam & Bridgett and the rest of your staff.
