Excellent as usual. Great selection of foods and friendly service. Fiddle heads were wonderful. Will be back!

Luckily, my birthday fell on a Monday. All day I dreamed of the filet (Yes. It's that good). Since Monday is traditionally a slow night for restaurants, it was quiet. As an added bonus, the chef kept sending us extra tastings. The staff is so friendly and do not rush you. It's like being in Europe where you can linger... More
Hands down that this is a MUST visit while in Utica.. The restaurant inside is absolutely beautiful.. Clean, unique a one of a kind in Utica.. Food is always fresh and always an interesting menu.. With all that being said, this is a place I would go to for a special occasion.. Priced are alittle ABOVE normal and portion sizes... More
My son and I shared the filet and turkey thighs. Both were fantastic! Even the salad had exceptional flavor. The chef is creative with his combinations and there wasn't anything on the two plates that we didn't love. Definitely worth a visit when in town.
Historic location in a lovely restored building. The staff was fantastic but the food was even more incredible. Everything was inventive and utilized local ingredients that were fresh and very well prepared.
Highly recommended by hotel staff and write-ups. Wasn't sure what to expect as my last visit to Utica (35 years ago), it seemed like the town was dying a slow and painful death. There appears to be a vibrant restaurant scene with awesome selections of varying cuisine. Since dining alone can be uncomfortable, especially as a female, I chose the... More
The Tailor & The Cook turned out to be a "gem" of a find on a recent trip I took with my dining adventurous daughter! The restaurant was clean, welcoming and decorated with an eclectic vibe. Tim was our server and I can't say enough about what an outstanding job he did! When my daughter and I couldn't decide on... More

Wednesday, March 8, 2017 - Great place to gather and eat. I was with a group of 10 colleagues and we all had excellent meals and the service was fabulous! The presentation of the clam chowder was the most unique I have ever seen and it was delicious. Agree with earlier reviews that the cheese tray was excellent too!
We went with our 22 year old daughter on our actual 25th wedding anniversary night. Told waitress it was our anniversary that night and they basically did nothing. Thought they could have at least written on the plate. We had wine, appetizers and three expensive entrees and spent about $200 on dinner. Was so disappointed that it wasn't even acknowledged.... Hi Stephanie - First of all I want to thank you for reviewing our family run restaurant, and also to thnak you for choosing to celebrate such a special occasion with us! I am very sorry to hear your visit was not up to par. While we do not write on plates, we most certainly should have marked your occasion... More

Hello. We are coming to Utica on Thursday, December 17, to take a ride on the Polar Express at 6:30pm.
We will be staying at the Red Roof Inn on Weaver Street.
We would like to have dinner at The Tailor and The Cook.
I understand you are quite close to the train station, so that would work out very well for us.
May we please make a dinner reservation for 4:30pm on Thursday, December 17, and we prefer a table versus a booth. Would you have a table by a window?
Mrs. Gay L. Huddle
Do you really need to make reservations at the beginning of the week?
What are examples of gluten free meals? Thanks
We are planning a visit to your area late September, how close are you to Hotel Utica and Adirondack train station? Are reservations needed and looking for a dinner menu
