Since moving to the Charlotte area 11 years ago, I make it a point to get to Black Mountain and have lunch at the Veranda at least once or twice each year. Every time they have a new selection of several soups. I have never had the same soup twice and I have never been disappointed. The sandwiches and salads... More

A favorite lunch stop on any visit to Black Mountain is the Veranda. Arriving around 2:00 PM, it is busy but not packed as it always is earlier. The only negative is the daily special is usually sold out by then. My husband's favorite is the The Muffuletta - it matches the New Orleans sandwich with Genoa salami, Black Forest... More

Veranda is a busy, but, great food makes up for that. Try and of their soups or sandwiches! I love their Beercheese Soup and any of their Pretzel sandwiches.

My mother started taking my three daughters and me to Veranda several years ago when we visited Black Mountain and it has remained a tradition every time we are there. This last time I was with my 17 year old daughter and two of her friends while on a special birthday trip. They all loved the food! My daughter got... More

So we randomly stopped here on our way home from Gatlinburg. My husband who was not particularly thrilled to be stopping at a "soup and sandwich" place could not stop saying how good it was, he got Louisiana gumbo and a club. He was in love with that gumbo!! Everything we got was great!!

Food and service was very good. Lots of locals come here so you know the food has to be good. I only had a bowl of soap which was very good but wasn't that warm. I should of said something but I didn't.

A group of us were returning from a concert in Charlotte and stopped by Black Mountain, NC to eat lunch. This restaurant was recommended high by Trip Advisor so we stopped. Its was a good call. Everyone loved their food. In my case, I had a bowl of the shrimp and crab bisque ..... it was outstanding. I also had... More

My wife had the turkey and cranberry chutney sandwich. It was heaped with turkey breast meat and just the right amount of a presumably-homemade cranberry chutney. Just enough tartness. Really good! I had the special; shrimp and grits. I wish I could give it a better review, but the grits were simple, like-you'd-get-in-a-bowl-at Cracker-Barrell grits, garnished with some bacon, gouda... More

I had the Hungarian mushroom soup and it was out of this world. A cup of soup and 1/2 sandwich will fill you up. The mango tea was superb. Friendly people everywhere. Will have to return many times to try everything on the menu. The chicken salad sandwich is a winner.

I went here to take out sandwiches which was good because the wait for a table was long. I got a Cuban for my husband and a veggie for me. I told them to leave off the sprouts. I should have asked the same for the red onions as they were too sharp for me. The food was fine but... More
