This is an original and perfect for the downtown scene. Try a combo. Best deal around. Meat is cooked to perfection and lots of condiments to add onto your burger. Best fried okra. Menu has something for everyone with vegan choices, seafood choices, and chicken as well. Hot dogs are bursting with flavor.

I’ve been going to King’s, or as my family calls it, “The Ballpark,” as long as I can remember. My earliest recollections include driving into “town” on a Friday night to “eat out,” meaning eat in the car. I have loved this place throughout the years, and I was so sad when they decided to close. And I was overjoyed... More

Wonderful takeout burger place which also makes some other great sandwiches. Had the shrimp po' bo sandwich which was delicious. Lots of local characters stopping by for lunch. You can take out or eat at several tables overlooking the Old Durham Bulls Ballpark (where "Bull Durham" was filmed).

We had lunch here while on a break during an event at The Rickhouse. An easy walk and really great burger, hot dogs and tater tots. The sweet tea was really tasty too!

Great little take out for lunch. Food is cooked to order, inexpensive, and tasty. King's is a Durham tradition for good reason. Don't expect fancy but if you want a quick, greasy, down home treat, wait in line and enjoy.

King's Sandwich Shop has been sitting on the corner since 1942 and is a Durham landmark. Their burgers and hot dogs are made the old fashioned way and are very good. I highly recommend their chocolate malted shake. They offer a covered outdoor seating area (not very large) but with all the cement around the building it can really heat... More

Ate at King's for first time today. Hot dogs were great. Ordered a mini chocolate malt milkshake but cashier said it was my lucky day because she made a large size by mistake. She was right, that malted shake hit the spot. I love that the clientele range from hipsters to EMTs to construction crews.

Great hot dogs, hamburgers, french fries...and they serve kool-aid! This place is old school Durham and much more down to earth than its neighbors (and most of the newer restaurants in Durham). Great prices too--I just wish they were open for dinner because they would make a killing on the evening crowds in the neighborhood.

I had the grilled chicken sandwich today and it was juicy great tasting. Order it on the ciabatta because the hamburger roll can't handle the moisture. The burger royal is also very good too. I also love the grilled chicken salad. Too many great eats to mention them all. Check them out at lunch.

Thank Wayne M
