Great savory breakfast options with impeccable espresso creations. Take your out-of-town guests here for instant cred. Super cool architecture.

As frequent visitors to Austria, (our daughter lives there with her Viennese husband and children) we enjoy their local cafes. Dessert at Guglhupf is the next best thing! Even our Austrian son-in-law gave the pastries and enthusiastic thumbs-up. Outdoor dining is a must though indoor seating is available (on two levels) when the weather is inclement.

Delicious and authentic German pastries! D licious! I used to live in Germany, Berlin as a matter fact and the pastries are equivalent to the daily baked goods that I received at bakery on the Kurfürstendamm in Berlin. Great place to experience or revisit German pastries in bakery goods!!

I visited Guglhupf for a birthday dinner. My partner and I split the oyster salad, cheese plate and sausage plate. All of them were very tasty. The oyster salad had a creamy smoked paprika dressing with plenty of oysters. It is light on the salad though (more like a fried oyster appetizer with salad garnish). The cheese plate offered good... This is my #1 brunch spot in Durham. When I lived here I came by almost every Sunday to study and get brunch. They have great coffee, smoked salmon, and muesli. The best part is that when you are done you can walk into the bakery and grab a loaf of fresh based bread to take home and start your... More

We went on a weekend and I was worried about a wait given it's reputation but there were plenty of available tables. The line to order was pretty short and the food was delivered fairly quickly. I love hot sauce and they have Tobasco and Valentina. We both ordered omelettes which were delicious. The portions are small compared to typical... More

Love the surroundings, but the food is uninspiring. Doubly so if you are eating a vegetarian or gluten free diet. Only confirmed meat eaters should consider going.

This is a cafe/restaurant. We we visiting Durham and ended up eating three meals here. During the day, you order at the counter and the staff brings your food to you. Terrific coffee at breakfast. I particularly enjoyed the spinach and new potato frittata. At lunch, schnitzel with salad and sausage sandwich on a FANTASTIC house baked pretzel roll. We... More

Pretty garden with delicious cream puffs, but other items on the brunch menu paled in comparison. I had the Caesar salad which I don't recommend.

I was more than disappointed in eating here since I lived in Germany over 10 years. Lots of sandwiches, bakery goods, but only few German meals! The place was full and long lines, but it was lunch time. Ran out of ice tea and had to wait. Did not offer sweet tea as you must sweeten with what sweetener's that... More
