Sadly we had a terrible experience, we had booked a table for myself and my husband and we’re on time We waited twenty minutes for our order to be taken. Both ordered a starter. 20 minutes later my husband got his hummus and pitta starter...( no cooking to be done) I waited for mine which was a hot Camembert, 15 minutes later when I asked how much longer it would be I was told there was none. I had ordered fish and chips and my husband the chicken roast. No fish! After having been there an hour we said to cancel the rest of the order and wanted to leave. A woman/ cook came out and apologised, I said we should have been told on ordering what was not available,, they had a set Sunday menu for the day so not that difficult. She then asked what she was supposed to do as she had o ky had one fish and they usually have people order the Sunday roast. Then don’t have other things on the menu. She had a terrible attitude and we will not go back. We asked the young barman for our drinks bill which they offered at no expense and seemed embarrassed. On leaving I did tell the young man at the bar it wasn’t their fault but a very badly organised kitchen. Not impressed at all.More
Lovely pub. Kind polite service from Megan a credit to your team. Sadly the toilet facilities were not to standard. Locks in operative and gents toilet dirty. Disabled toilet also dirty.
Hi guys, I think you were in the White Hart in Otley, West Yorkshire, not our pub in Suffolk. We don’t have a Megan, and the toilets might be shabby but are clean! If you find yourself down in the South East, pop in.
We had a brilliant meal, lamb cutlets, monk fish and asparagus and wild garlic risotto were all perfectly cooked, looked good and were delicious. Puddings were of the same standard. Service friendly, all in all an excellent evening.
Was lovely to meet you all and very glad you enjoyed our little local pub.
Lovely pub, friendly staff and fantastic food! Well priced and really recommend! Dog friendly and always welcoming!
Sorry, we missed this in the muddle of the pandemic! Thank you - we try!
Great Sunday Lunch, everything was well cooked and fresh Had the roast beef it was perfect. Will certainly go again
Thank you so much! We try very hard to use fresh and good ingredients usually sourced and grown locally. It ain’t fast food, that’s for sure! Looking forward to seeing you.
Really excellent homemade pie and chips. The chicken and mushroom pie was full of the above ingredients and the pie crust was very good. The 'cabbage' as advertised as the veg was actually mixed with several other veg and was actually very tasty. The chips...were the best I have eaten in a long time. Well done the cook and the lady behind the bar, all very welcoming.More
So pleased you enjoyed yourselves, was lovely to meet you both. Will let you have our pastry recipe!
Even with well spaced tables the atmosphere in this local pub reminded me of pre-virus days. There is a great choice of wine and beer but it is the food that really sets it apart. A varied menu, that includes tapas, made it easy to...create a meal to accompany our drinks. The quality of the food is superbMore
Thanks to all that happened, I missed this review. Ah, the Tapas. How to spin out “drinking only with a sizeable meal”. A cunning plan that was somewhat challenging in the kitchen. Very glad to enjoyed it and thank you for your kind words.
Popped in for lunch great pub food warm welcome just as a local village pub should be. Fresh fish and chips crispy batter wide range of beers and cider We will be back!
That is lovely to hear Julie. We find ourselves in unchartered waters at the moment, so it is nice to know we are still somehow managing to steer the right course. Look forward to seeing you again as Otley residents. Lynda x
We visited The White Hart for lunch on a Thursday. The welcome was warm & friendly & the food very good. The Mushroom Risotto in particular was delicious. The Pub is not close to a large centre of population but it is certainly worth a...visit. Thank you all!More

Made very welcome upon arrival. Staff polite, informative and cheerful. Pleasant surroundings, with seating inside and out. Dog friendly. Nice menu, reasonably priced and with a realistic number of choices. We both chose roasts which were excellent, the amount and choice of vegetables being great....All in all highly recommended.More
So glad you came to see us and enjoyed it. We love Sunday Lunch and try to make it as good as our mothers’. This is particularly lovely as our young trainee was cooking and she did a brilliant job. Go Romy!
Came with friends before a visit to beautiful Otley Hall. Despite them having a Community lunch that day and it being the hottest day of the year we had a wonderful welcome excellent friendly service all dishes adapted to our request and a very small...bill- only wish this was our local pub!More
I remember that day! You were lovely people. So glad you had a good time with us and enjoyed Otley Hall. We are very lucky to have such wonderful places around here.
We dropped in for lunch. My confit of duck and goat cheese burger with salad was good and my companion had a superb risotto with prawns. Trouble taken to get it right. I am happy to recommend this dog friendly pub.More

Friendly welcome and an interesting menu that tempted us to stay and have tea, Greek style mackerel with salad and chips twice, excellent, I wish this pub was nearer to home.
It was lovely to meet you - we wish you lived closer too!
Stopped off for lunch during a ramble and wasn’t disappointed. The food was wonderful and it’s worth going just for the three friendly doggies
