Not many special occasion restaurants in the area but here's an exception. Expensive but service and food well above average. Owner, Gail usually around to welcome guests with good conversation, very interesting lady and originally a local.

Returned to Riverhouse for a 3 day weekend for my husbands bday weekend. Gayle is such a lovely genuine host and makes you feel like an old friend from the moment you arrive. We stayed at the Wee Cabin on the property. It is a lovely one room cabin with jacuzzi tub overlooking the woods and a comfortable covered deck... More

Stayed at the riverhouse for the weekend and ate breakfast and dinner twice at the restaurant. Breakfast was included in the room charge and was a full menu prepared to order breakfast. Everything I had was perfectly prepared and the service was tops.

My husband has travelled ALL OVER the world and lived in many other countries. He said the filet mignon was the BEST he has ever had:).

I had River House booked as my venue for my wedding and decided it just wasn't worth it! The worst part of my experience is that Gayle, the house manager would not answer my questions. She corresponded per email but diverted from any questions I had in my email and I thought I would have to show up at the... More

I'll admit that I was surprised when a "B&B did dinner, but oh my goodness our food was out of this world. From the soup to the entry to the bread served, nothing was bad. Dessert, of course, was also phenomenal. Fine dining in a rural area is hard to come by, this is truly a gem.

The best place to stay in N.C. We will be going back soon. Mrs. Gayle is a great host and her staff is great also. We had the best time this weekend.

In the spring of 2012 my wife retired. She purchased a new car. A road trip was in order. So off to the New River and to River House we went. The Creeper Trail is not far. We rented bikes and pedaled up to the trail head and coasted down on a grand cool spring day. There are miles of... More

First let me say that I purchased a special deal from Groupon to visit this inn for a getaway for my husband and I. It is tucked away in the West Jefferson area in NC in Grassy Creek. The road to the inn was along the river and once you got to the inn you probably would not want to... More

We travel all over the country and have eaten at many fine restaurants, including many in Ashe Country and the Boone area. We have often been disappointed by overhyped descriptions, but not at the Riverhouse. The atmosphere was wonderful and the staff (including the owner) could not have been more friendly. The food was superb and the wine list surprisingly... More
