Previously reviewed this restaurant and was not impressed, but it's now under new ownership. From the number of cars parked anywhere nearby, something was improved. My husband and I tried it tonight and were very pleased. Service was prompt and friendly. My husband ordered the...special (seafood combo), I ordered the hamburger steak with gravy. Both were very good....hamburger steak was hand-formed, tender and juicy. Gravy had a pleasant flavor, not that bullion taste. Seafood was fresh tasting, not frozen out of a box. This is a local family run place and hope they continue to do well. We definitely will go back.More

This place came under new management Spring 2019. The food is good, prices reasonable and the staff are friendly. They are known for their daily specials - but especially seafood on Fridays. I will be a repeat customer!

My wife and I had lunch here today, to support the new owner. The service was excellent. We decided to have the chicken tenders and onion rings, and I added a side salad. Salad was fresh and crunchy, and lots of cheese strips on top,...and cold bleu cheese dressing. Chicken came with a choice of sauces ( BBQ & Honey Mustard) and some tasty crisp onion rings. Clean and friendly local restaurant, with very good service, food ,and reasonable prices. Will return soon & often. New hours are 11 am to 8Pm Monday through Friday.More

We ate here as a part of 4 early on a Friday night, around 5 pm. The waitress was very attentive, the tea was refilled frequently, and they have that crushed ice I love so much. Pepsi products. I had the buffalo chicken wrap and...fries. It was excellent. The sauce was hot enough, but not too, and the portion was just slightly more than I could eat. We had spent a long day at Duke with Doctors, so stopped here on the way home to get dinner. My wife ordered the chicken salad plate, and i had a Bacon Cheeseburger with slaw & chili. Both came promptly--we were fairly late arriving, but...good food & ample portions at a very fair price. The place is always clean, and the staff makes sure you're taken care of. This is the only really family type restaurant in this area, and I recommend it for a great family meal time. Not fancy--but you don't eat fancy--you eat good food and appreciate good service.More

I usually try to give great reviews to the local eateries, but in this case I just can't. My husband and I decided to give this place a chance for lunch on a Monday. The menu is very limited; typical hamburger, BLT, a few meat...and veggie plates. Nothing out of the ordinary. We each ordered a hamburger and my husband added a hot dog. There was a large party of local men (10-12) and three other tables of two with one waitress so we knew we would wait. When our food finally arrived it was just so-so. The hand formed hamburger had no flavor; it actually tasted steamed. I don't know about the rest of the food, but my advice is go to Hardee's or Burger King.More

Would I ride to Norlina to have lunch here? Well maybe. But if you are in the area and hungry, you won't be disappointed stopping in here. The menu is typical diner fare, with a daily special. I don't eat a big meal at lunch,...so it was a cheeseburger for me. It was good. The location is right downtown and it's clean as a - well a whistle. Train themed, spacious and run by some very nice people. Things to know - they don't open until 11:00 AM and they don't take credit cards. See ya at the Whistle Stop.More

All the locals eat here(not many other choices), but the food is consistently good,and the servings ample at a reasonable price. A variety of specials each day in addition to the regular menu,and always several special dessert choices. Great for lunch or dinner, but they...are not open weekends.More
