Very disappointing business lunch on a Wednesday during the first week in December. There were eight of us, and it feels as if the meal took eight hours. Our server seemed young and took forever to take our order. Likewise, the restaurant took forever to...More

Another Raleigh restaurant with wonderful craft cocktails! Great place to hang out in, very pretty, even if you don’t have dinner but......it would be a shame to miss out on the excellent “global street food.” I had the Hawaiian Ahi Tuna Poke, and Pad Thai...More

We went here for a birthday dinner. We had a great waiter who catered to all our needs and offered good suggestions when asked. We ended up with Baja crab flautas and Afghan mantua for appetizers to share. Both were good but were spicy, especially...More

I was in town for a Concert, and we had dinner at BuKu. It was a nice restaurant, but we had a really lousy waitress. She never asked us what we wanted to drink, other than water we did not receive anything to drink. When...More

This is a lovely restaurant in downtown Raleigh. There was a huge selection of food though the room appeared to be small. Must haves the fried chicken, french toast and they have smoked salmon for omelets or just to eat. Everything I tried was really...More

The name is a play on words and the menu is a collection of dishes from around the world. The Filipino duck was super. Their take on Chinese pork buns was delicious but more like a taco. We tried several wines by the glass all...More

Visited with the in-laws, one of whom is pescatarian. Lots of choice on the tapas-style menu for all. It got super cold & windy whilst we were sat outside & unfortunately there were no seats left inside, but we were warmed up with complimentary coffee...More

Located at the corner of Wilmington and Davie Streets in the heart of downtown Raleigh, bu•ku is a local restaurant that tells a global story. The name "bu•ku" itself is an international slang twist on the phrase, "Merci, beaucoup" meaning, "Thank you very much." Inspired by the pushcarts of street vendors across the globe, our chefs harvest an array of unique and distinct flavors and present them authentically, in a virtual kaleidoscope of plates. The common link: these are foods that people love. Working within different regional traditions, our menu brings together complex and flavorful dishes that have been honed over generations. Foods like Polish pierogis, Colombian arepas, and Thai barbecue prawns served in a banana leaf with green papaya salad can be found on the street corners of Warsaw, Bogota, and Bangkok. We strive to convey the immediate thrill a traveler feels eating foods like these as they first cross over the cart and exchange hands into the urban setting.
