I have had some wonderful barbecue during our travels, but I will always prefer Ole Time Barbecue. North Carolina bbq has a more vinegar based flavor, but that just means it has more flavor, period. Plus the sides are great and any time you can start off a meal with hush puppies is a good time for all. If you're... More

From the outside it didn't look like much, and inside it took me back to my youth with the atmosphere of a country diner. However, within seconds after taking a seat at the counter (no booths were available) a generous basket of hushpuppies was plunked down in front of me as I was handed a menu. The counter man kept... This place is a fixture in the area. It has great Country food and vegetables. The hush puppies and to die for.

We ate dinner here based on the TA reviews and were disappointed. Can't believe this place is one of the top 10 BBQ restaurants in NC. We stopped by for dinner before a hockey game. I had the combination pulled pork/t Louis ribs combination dinner and my wife had 1/2 a BBQ chicken. The pulled pork was good, but not... More

I'm staying at a hotel less than a mile away. It's raining and I'm hungry after a long day making sales calls, which involved air and road travel. I happen to stop by Ole Time where I was greeted with friendly smiles... as I glance at the menu trying to decide what to order, I was served fresh hot hush... More

If you're looking for authentic, home-cookin' Eastern NC BBQ (Vinegar based), this is the place to find it in the Triangle. Their pulled pork, collards, hushpuppies, mac n cheese is my go to meal. Fantastic for bulk takeout for tailgating at football games/concerts. Ole Time is very small, so if the restaurant is busy, be ready to be "rushed" out... More

This will be my go to place for out of towners come to visit. The best hush puppies I had in my life. This place is non pretentious, cozy, friendly, and darn cheap.

Halfway between west Raleigh and Cary is a small restaurant that makes some of the best barbeque around. Ole Time Barbeque is located in a yellow building across from the train tracks on old Highway 54. Inside is a small dining area and lunch counter. You get full service at either one. Jerry, the owner, usually runs the register and... More

Excellent BBQ. Wife and I stopped in after shopping and got our usual order. BBQ sandwich and hush puppies each. Still haven't found a better BBQ joint in the area. We had to wait about 5 min to sit down and the line was about 10 deep after us.

Pros: clean roadside-joint, friendly staff Cons: n/a I made a quick stop here on my way to the airport. The restaurant is off the side of the road and easily spotted. I ordered the pork sandwich with a side of hush-puppies. The pork was finely chopped with a strong vinegar BBQ flavor. Overall, the food I ordered was good but... More
