Tough giving this one great marks as it is a favorite, don't want the crowds finding it. Actually, the service is great and so is the food. Bar upstairs ~ they have an elevator if stairs are a problem. Views of the river and ICW.

I have eaten here numerous times since 2015. Today on this beautiful warm day I waited on the top floor at a rail table over 10 minutes. I walked thru inside 2 times and just one table with about 10 people were seated, no food on table. No waitstaff was found on this floor or the floor under. Service and... More

While walking on Holden Beach, we met two young ladies who told us about the Inlet View Bar and Grill, located just a few miles out of Shallotte, NC. The restaurant is located at the intersection of the Shallotte River and the Intercostal Waterway, with the western end of Holden Beach and the ocean in view. The food and service... More

Service was friendly and efficient and you cannot beat the view over the water. There is indoor and outdoor seating and though it was not summer we could tell that there is a party atmosphere here at that time with corn hole and comfy outdoor seating arrangements. The food was the problem. We had the hush puppies, which are great... More

Did you let someone know. We would have cooked you another one or gotten you something else. Not really sure why everything was so salty. We have special spices for the flounder and another one for our blackened seasoning. We do not add extra salt. Oysters cooked on the grill will always be a little wet, oysters are 90% water.... The restaurant has a great view of the Intracoastal Waterway. Our waitress was great, very friendly and attentive. The hush puppies were delicious. My wife had the flounder for dinner. Before we could get back to our hotel she got sick from the fish and stayed sick throughout the night. When we called the restaurant the next morning, they said... More

First of all, we are very sorry that your wife got sick. Sam, the owner, did call back after receiving the message that afternoon. She talked to your wife. Sam told her that no one else had called and complained about the flounder and shrimp from the night before. Your wife said that she got sick on the flounder. We... More

Dropping in to a restaurant for dinner on a Friday night with 12 people can be pretty challenging. But we were met with a warm welcome and no worries. We picked up cocktails at the bar and sat outside enjoying the view-- beautiful! They set up two tables for us and handled our orders quite well. Not too long of... More

The setting is stunning - overlooking a marsh inlet. The food - nope. Overcooked and cold flounder supposedly stuffed with crab. That gelatinous mess had no discernible crab and even less flavor. For $21.95, I expected better - a lot better Service was friendly but slow.

We are glad that you enjoyed the surroundings and your server was friendly. Did you sit inside, outside, first or second floor? What time were you here? Was your server aware that you were unhappy with your food? Did you speak to a manager? If we had known yesterday when you were here, we could have done something about it... More

Last Saturday, September 24, 2016 I visited this restaurant with 3 of my friends. We all live 20 miles away and found this gem online when we were looking for a nice place to have lunch in the Shallotte area. It is out of the way but well worth looking for. Both inside and ouside seating is available and the... More

On a point with a great view. Crows nest on top gives you a 360 panorama. Linda our server was friendly and explained what's really local and fresh. Kinda like a big shack and nothing fancy. Not cheap and no happy hour. We had she crab soup, crab cakes, local shrimp and mahi mahi Food was great. Bills for each... More

Description
In 1978, C.W Hughes, Jr., who owned a paving company, and his wife Allison, a retired nurse, bought a small grill, motel and marina previously called Gregory's. It was located at the mouth of the Shallotte River and the Intracoastal Waterway. The grill had 13 stools around a bar and a small tackle shop. It was named Hughes Marina and home of the Poor Boy Shark Tournament for 14 years. It was a popular restaurant with the locals. It became home for Jr., Allison and their 11-year-old daughter, Samantha. For many of those years they poured their hearts and souls into the restaurant and marina. Their other daughter Amy and her husband John, both teachers, moved from Georgia to help. It continued to get bigger and attract more customers. In 1992, the girls took over the business, which continued to grow until they closed in 2004. On July 30, 2009, Sam and Timmy, her fiancé, opened the doors of Inlet View, a restaurant with a new look and an elevator that can take you to breathtaking views both from the restaurant on the first floor and a panoramic view from the bar on the second floor, which is surrounded by decks. Their dream became real with the help of friends and family.
