There are not enough superlatives to describe how wonderful this restaurant is. Views are incredible, the deck, lawn/garden area, and restaurant are all beautiful, food is fantastic, and innkeepers and staff are warm and friendly. It can be tough to get a reservation if you...More

Each year the Swag improves its food, service, ambiance. The guests are so interesting and the after dinner story telling is very special.

The location is exceptional but it is exceeded by the Innkeepers and their staff. What a great place to unwind and relax. They go out of their way to make you feel at home. I cannot recommend The Swag highly enough!

My review can only be for the picnic lunch offering as we are local and did not stay overnight. The property is so serene and peaceful. It seems that everything is provided and you just need to show up and relax. We got there early...More

Loved what Chef Jake is doing at the Swag. And, you can always count on Linda, the pastry chef, for her melt in your mouth biscuits and delicious pies.

The Swag has outstanding food and ambiance. Top-level chefs work hard to present great meals. There's also great entertainment in the form of storytellers and the like.

We went to The Swag for their Wednesday picnic lunch and we are so glad that we did. It helped that we had a picture perfect day weather-wise but the view from 5,000 feet is phenomenal. The inn is just delightful and the walk to...More

This is a bit off the beaten path and you have to be comfortable driving on a narrow mountain road. The menu is set so you have to select before you arrive. The food is excellent and a little pricy but you are paying for...More

The spread of delectable delights will tempt even the most cautious guest. There is no watching-your-figure when a guest dines at Sunday Bruch at The Swag. Skip eating breakfast before you go! Maybe dinner the night before too!

Description
Welcome to The Swag! This intimate hideaway is nestled among eighteen peaks over 6,000 feet and this extraordinary log and stone lodge is a treasure to be discovered by today's lovers of nature. The old split rail fence marking the boundary of Great Smoky Mountain National Park is a few yards from the Swag Lodge entrance, and well marked hiking trails abound both in the Park and throughout the two hundred fifty acre property of our award-winning Inn. Our own trails are complemented by the national park's vast network of hiking trails carefully mapped to scale and available for all guests and especially enjoyed by the wilderness novice. For over thirty years we have developed and enhanced our fourteen romantic guest rooms with wood-burning fire places, steam showers, balconies, patchwork quilts, and "Ritzy Rustic" amenities galore. Very special dining is a proud tradition at the Swag beginning with hors d'oeuvres at 6 p.m. each evening and leading up to our chef's four-course dinner at 7 p.m. Exceptional country breakfasts and delectable back-pack lunches add to the day's leisure nature walk or the more ambitious high country exploring. Join us for one of our gourmet picnics each Wednesday at noon on our Gooseberry Knob, or savor our Thursday evening barbeque cookout! Expansive beams, 200 year-old hand-hewn logs and native Appalachian crafts authenticate our desire to capture the romance and integrity of living graciously while authentically close to nature and all its wonder. Our seasonal inn operates from mid-April through November. Located near Waynesville, thirty miles west of Asheville, North Carolina.
