I was in town for business and a local colleague took me to lunch at the Whistle Stop. It is a refurbished old train car that they have turned into a quaint diner, right in "downtown" High River. My soup and sandwich tasted homemade and were very fresh. The service was good and the bill was reasonable. I would go... More

It was unique to eat in a train car. Small but cozy restaurant. Good size lunch portions and tasty. The one server worked hard to seat and serve everyone in a friendly and quick manner. If you're not in a rush enjoy lunch at the Whistle Stop.

I am a regular visitor to the Train in High River, and love the meals and desserts. The black bottom banana cream pie is to die for. The environment is really neat and a fun concept:) However, the service is atrocious. The two ladies in there are very friendly, yet lack common server manners. They had you your meal and... More

We were looking for a new lunch stop enroute from calgary to Lethbridge and decided to detour into downtown High River - we found this gem! Great lunch with home made food including borscht today - BF had breakfast and was delicious - I'd eat here again in a heart beat. Lots of locals coming in as well. Tons of... More

Food is always delicious - soups and sandwiches mainly, deserts available. Lovely staff - very friendly, frequent top-ups of coffee. Confined space as it is a railway carriage, so no highchairs and not easily accessible for the disabled. Reasonable prices and good quality.

Stopped in on a Sunday for a quick lunch. A very unique spot as the dining area is in a decommissioned railway car. The food is homemade and fresh. I had a gorgeous turkey/avacado/creamcheese sandwich on delicious homemade bread. Accompanied by a santa fe chicken soup.

My kids took me here for Father's Day brunch. Great food and service in a fun environment. If you've never had a meal on a rail car (although I've had many) this is great fun, albeit the rail car is static.

I've eaten here a number of times with friends, work meetings and with family. I've never had a bad meal, but I typically stick with my favourite, the chicken melt on a croissant. There are a couple of soup choices every day, fair sized menu of salads, sandwiches, wraps. Loads of desserts to pick from. The restaurant is in a... More

This is an old railroad dinning car turned into a restaurant located near the old railway station, now a museum, in downtown High River. I had lunch there about 15 years ago and it was a pleasant experience so I looked for the old rail cart and found it again. Still a pleasant, tasty experience. It is a lunch place,... More
