Our dining experience was marred by poor service and inconsistent food provided on the same special. For example, the Chef provided toasted garlic bread to the table next to us and no bread at all to us, even though both tables ordered the same special. The desert menu lacked most of the listed items, even though we ate before 6 pm on a Friday night. The waitress appeared disinterested and untrained in hospitality. The veal was inexplicably too dry for my taste. The bone marrow was very good, and the appetizers were good, but the portions were far too small. The special was overpriced by 40%, compared to the top prices of everything else on the menu. There should have been fresh fish on the menu, especially since this restaurant is on an island with huge amounts of fresh salmon that is caught daily in early September. This was a serious flaw. Quality food, prepared by a good chef, but marred by too many mistakes.

Restaurant has recently changed hands and went from Passin' Thyme to Gordie's .
Freshly revamped room with a new enthusiastic and committed crew .
New menu with a few old favorites .
The appy items and mains I've tried so far are competently made , quickly delivered to your table and reasonably priced .
Stocking a variety of North Island craft beers , making it the best place to sink a few brews on the island .

We stopped in for a dessert. We went for the deep fried ice cream!!! Highly recommend. It is like one of the tiny donuts you get at the PNE wrapped around vanilla ice cream. The view from the restaurant is wonderful and our waitress was great. Next time we are in town will definitely go for dinner.

Arrived at the restaurant at 4:30 for drinks & appetizers then dinner. Had a minor serve us drinks and the other had her breasts just about fall out when she bent over to serve us food. 1 of the dinners was fine but the second persons meal was wrong 3 times. Baby back ribs were dried garlic ribs, sent it back. Second meal was seafood linguine which turned into Spicy prawn linguini, sent it back. Third meal was Seafood linguini in red sauce which ended up being seafood linguine in white sauce which was finally kept. finally got the meal at 6:00. She said they had a new cook. Had to go to the bar to ask for more drinks. Kind of a bad experience considering we were the only ones in the restaurant for over a hour. On a happy note the 1 meal was complimentary.

Hi Z3518CMsusans, thank you for taking the time to review Gordie's. As you mentioned, with new staff, there can be hiccups and we are terribly sorry you had such a poor experience. We always strive to make it right and I am glad you appreciated the complimentary meal. I wanted to assure everyone that we are a fully licensed restaurant and legally underage servers can deliver drinks, as long as there is a certified bartender with Serving it Right that is making or opening the drink, which we maintain at all times.
We hope you give us another chance as our staff are much better trained and ready for the busy tourist season. :-)

We had a great visit and a good meal. Our service was exceptional. She was able to serve the entire room and make us all feel that we her only customers.
The room overlooks the bay and is bright and comfortable. Our meal was served and we were all pleased with our choices.

Average experience but great fry bread!
The food was average.
We ordered the salad. It came with bacon (which was not listed as an ingredient) and was over dressed and had too much blue cheese (never thought I would say that).
I couldn't eat it all.
We had fried pickles and courgette. They were what it said on the box.
The fry bread though was delicious!
Nice view over the harbour, indoor seating.

Waited 30 minutes before someone picked up the order. One hour after that, we got to know that the starter we ordered was not available. The salmon burger was over cocked. Dry and crusty meat. The starter we ordered was equally bad. Everything on the menu is typical “fast food” Unfortunately it is not cocked well nor is it coming fast…

We waited an hour and a half for a sandwich and some prawns. When the prawns finally arrived they were burned and impossible to eat. We nicely called the waitress who had the guts to tell us that this is the only way to cook them. We disagreed and left, she wanted to charge us for them. We contested the bill and she finally charged us of or what we ate, all while arguing more with us.
We went to this place 3 times, the two other times the prawns were perfect. The lies were just the little thing that makes us decide to never get back there again.
Sandwich was decent, bison burger was horrible.

This was the only restaurant open during our visit in March. The service was excellent, friendly and professional. We had lunch and dinner on day one which was very good. On day two we had dinner and it was excellent. The chef knows how to cook a steak. The vegetables and baked potato were also well prepared. We chose the carrot cake for dessert and it was also excellent. We would definitely recommend this restaurant!

Beautiful atmosphere, friendly service, excellent food, and yummy drinks. We tried the Caesar flight, Shafts, and a few different beers on tap - all very tasty. Our girls enjoyed the beef dip and cheeseburger. Try the prawn tacos! So delicious!

Love the Korean Bbq and honey hot wings! The spicy chicken burger is also delicious! Love the atmosphere and view, the bar is nice and the drinks are delicious! Try the many flavours of shafts!

We had a delicious family dinner. Safe social distancing. Food would rival anything from the big city. Chicken parmigiana and lamb shank specials. Service was quick and very friendly. Can’t wait to enjoy another meal here!

Went with local friends for dinner. As there are only a couple restaurants in this small town, it seems, I wasn't expecting too much. But our meals were all fantastic. Highly recommended.

We ate at Pass'n Thyme a few times during our trip to Alert Bay and each time the food was delicious. The staff was always friendly and accommodating and we had a great experience here!

Love the view...sunsets...atmosphere of the place is spacious and somehow still homie. Servicer are cool and prompt with food and drink. I usually have the casadea....sp.....always tastey. Desserts are killer, Overall an experience I repeat multiple times during the summer. Recommend this place to many of our guests.
