We were able to scoop reservations for the New Years Eve dinner and we were treated to a dinner that was absolutely sublime. From the appetizers onwards, it was a lovely evening. Very, very nicely done.

The food is delicious! The service is great. It's wonderful to have such a great restaurant on such a small island like Gabriola. And the desserts are irresistible!

Had a terrific dinner here, I had the braised beef ravioli which was tasty and cooked just right, we also tried the grilled chicken fettuccine which was delicious. For dessert we shared the dark chocolate espresso mousse cake, and the warm sticky toffee pudding both...were excellent although I would lean toward the pudding myself. Overall we really enjoyed our experience at this fine restaurant, service was exemplary, we wouldn't hesitate to visit again.More

Good takeout pizza, very tasty. We decided to go takeout as the outdoor patio looked a little crowded and none of the staff were wearing masks. Looked like a nice place though otherwise.

This was a family dinner for 6 with two boys (11 and 13). Restaurant was obviously very busy with pizza takeaway as well as sit in. We were outside at a table and it was very comfortable. Our server was outstanding. Remembered everything without fail...but took no notes. She was very personable and helpful. My wife is celiac and they were very gluten free accommodating. My Cioppino was very tasty as was my wife’s stuffed portobello mushrooms. The shrimp appetizer was also delicious. The desserts two of the family ordered were very nice. All in this was better than we might have expected. The only potential drawback was everything was slow to arrive but the COVID restrictions and the volume of customers would have impacted this. It was no concern for us.More

Thoroughly enjoyed the pizza special tonight. Great salad and of course the sticky toffee pudding was amazing. Wonderful assortment of local beers and wine. Excellent customer service.

As regular patrons of Woodfire Restaurant Gabriola Island, we were delighted to read that they had reopened with Covid guidelines in place. We made a reservation to assure us a table and we arrived with our face masks on. Unfortunately, there were two issues that...disappointed us. COVID guidelines. We noted as we entered that social distancing of tables was in place and we were asked to use the available hand sanitizer. However, when the server arrived to take our order we commented that although we were “masked” she was NOT. Her response was that “mask wearing was not mandatory and that sanitizing of surfaces, etc. was being done”. We should have left then and there, but we did not and we became increasingly uncomfortable. We observed that our server frequently moved back and forth from our table to several other tables where the patrons had removed their masks in order to eat. While she did stand back from our table when conversing, she was never more than 3 feet away. This was NOT a comfortable setting for us and we will not be returning for our regular dining out custom. Every other restaurant we have patronized had servers wearing masks and expected no less at Woodfire! ENTRÉE CHOICE I ordered the sirloin steak MEDIUM RARE. When the meal arrived the steak was cut into several strips rather than a solid steak [unusual] and it was NOT Medium rare. I looked at each piece of steak expecting to see some pink but didn’t. To ensure I was fair, I tasted a small piece but found it to be dry and very well done! The explanation of the server for lack of “redness or pinkness in the steak” was their approach to marinating. The server offered to replace it with another choice and I selected the chicken fettuccini which was tasty and delivered after only a short wait. The combination of these issues spoiled the evening for us and we are uncomfortable returning. From the servers not wearing masks to the insistent explanation that the steak was medium rare but just looked well done due to their marinating process, the evening was not only a disappointment but was very uncomfortable.More

We found the restaurant ambiance to be sort of an upscale coffee shop in style (we ate inside). We both had the Woodfire burger with fries and Caesar salad. The salad was the best part. The burger was good, the bun a bit tough, and...the fries a bit too spicy for our taste. A nice staff. Overall, the rating would probably be a 3.5 if such a scale existed. And, to be fair we did not try the “upscale” part of the menu (like seafood, steak, ribs etc.).More

We regularly get pizza to go during these Covid times and they have some delicious combos. Now they are open again, with a beautiful new patio set up. Cheery red umbrellas are very inviting. The rest of the menu is delicious and their pizzas are...top notch! I recently tried the Pages Marina and it is truly addictive! Great job, chef!More
