Have been coming to Sun Peaks for 10 years and only found this place last year after our preferred lunchtime eatery had changed hands and changed the layout of the cafe. The 5Forty is spacious and has a great menu. My wife is working her way through it day by day. Staff are happy to accommodate dietary needs and swap things out e.g no cheese. Food is hot, very tasty and reasonably priced. Staff are very friendly. 10/10.

5Forty Bar and Grill is a great place for lunch. Their soup of the day is always great and they serve the best coffee in the Village - Kicking Horse coffee. We have only been there for lunch but worth it for a ski break.

I visited this place last night at the recommendation of a local couple I met on the slopes. They bragged it up but I was not prepared for how great an experience this was! The atmosphere and ambiance were incredible, kind of cozy and intimate although it was packed. I tried two different cocktails as recommended by the bartender (blue Mexican and Pink Flamingo) and both were on point.” What is this hidden gem???” I thought and decided to try the tacos. Very pleasantly surprised to find they make their corn tortillas in house. I’m sure I looked like I was on something psychedelic as my face sported a huge grin as I munched contentedly on what have to be the best tacos I’ve ever eaten. The waitress made me feel like I was the only patron although she was busy, great service, amazing food. More please!

If you like overpriced, greasy food, heated in the microwave then you’ve found your place! There was no atmosphere, it was us and another couple who were having drinks, they drank and left, then it was just us..awkward..To be honest we had to kinda eat there as every other place was busy and had no tables! The staff were really friendly though.

Marty the owner goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome. All of the servers/bartenders are personable and friendly! We came 2/2 nights we were in sunpeaks. Tacos are amazing and please try the spicy mango marg! Highly recommend!

Couldn’t handle 3 hot dogs and a couple salads and sandwiches. After waiting 45 minutes, our food order was partly wrong. Cant expect much from a bunch of hungover employees I guess

Only stopped for drinks, but great to have two "Northern Lads." to look after us and make our visit so much better. Nice patio to sit out on, so highly recommended for a quick beverage or two. Loved their "Special" milkshakes as well.

This is the type of small independent place you hope to find when you roll into a ski/board/mountain bike town. Breakfast and coffee is perfect for powering up for a day on the hill and the staff are great. Casual and super friendly and the price/value is awesome. It's places like this and the people that create them that give "ski towns" their true character.

This is the spot to start your day on the snow at Sun Peaks - you can ski-in for breakfast & ski out replete & ready to hit the slopes.
Service is extremely prompt & friendly, & the cafe itself is cosy & clean. The menu is hearty, with a great range of ways to present breakfast staples (I'd particularly recommend the Bigg Dogg bagel), & value is good. The coffee, although fresh & expertly prepared, comes up a little weak for my personal taste - but that's a minor niggle that an extra shot can easily solve.
All-in-all, I'd highly recommend 5Forty as the starting point for your Sun Peaks mountain adventures.

Paying in advance is one thing ... but having to endure 5 attempts before the payment went through was odd (especially when the food is going out to the table and I'm still standing inside trying to pay). Costco hash browns ... Costco sausage ... but the eggs were fresh, (no toast provided?). A one armed man, (the other was broken), made me a great latte ... but the whole scene was reminiscent of a couple of boarders looking after their uncles establishment while he's travelling on the continent. Too dark for my liking. Not a great daytime vibe ... but it likely does double duty for the craft brew crowd in the PM. Good potential in the right hands. Outside seating was nice.
