While Covid-19 is severely impacting all restaurants, the owners of Avenue are taking provisions to protect our health and still provide delicious food. They have transformed to a take-out service only from 4:30 to 8:00 pm. They stagger pickup times for our safety. The burgers, fries and salads this evening were awesome. If you are looking for great takeout, try Avenue Bistro. I hear there will be a wings special tomorrow evening. Sign me up!!!

Since Covid, we have rarely gone out to a restaurant. My husband's birthday was a good excuse (it is what he wanted to do). He ordered the 8 oz striploin and was blown away. He picked a red wine sauce that was delicious. The vegetables were done to perfection. It was a great choice. I wasn't hungry so I picked the Tuna Nest. The tuna was perfectly seared and there was a good portion. However, I found it OK but a bit bland. I'm not sure I would order it again. Luckily my husband shared some of his delicious steak with me (there was actually a large enough serving that we could have shared it if we had ordered an appetizer. The restaurant's safety protocols were good and the wait staff were attentive and very professional. It was a lovely evening.

It's on the main drag in Comox ............. just a little off the beaten path! But what a gem when you find Avenue Bistro. Our family has been vacationing in Kye Bay for over 60 years and we're always looking for new dining places and Avenue came highly recommended by friends who live here. The ambiance is modern and relaxed, the service was attentive and the food was tasty. Rest assured, that when we return to Comox next summer, Avenue will be at the top of our dining out list. Such a pleasant surprise to find this jewel in our own backyard! Run ................ don't wait for a most enjoyable evening out on the town. The experience is certainly worth toasting.

I had a mid week lunch with friends at Avenue. Great local eatery location, lovely ambiance and attentive service. Linen napkins. Clean washroom. But I felt it fell short on my meal. Three of went for lunch on a nice quiet day. I had the one piece cod and chips ($14). Had this as do often a two piece is too much . I think this is well priced however perhaps pricing reflects the lack of fish. The meal is pretty well lots of shoe string (my favourite type) French fries, topped with a very small piece of fish. Perhaps 4 to 5 inches long, that’s in the batter. Just a perfect size for a good fish taco. Skinny too. I would call the meal Chips and fish as the fish plays such a small part ( I am sorry I didn’t take a photo as it would have demonstrated this so well). If I got 4 forks of cod I would be surprised. The fish was good, and I enjoyed the fries. So many! It was like eating three or more large MacDonal fries, though longer and perhaps tastier. FYI. There is no coleslaw. That’s $1.50 extra. Maybe my choice wasn’t the best for this restaurant. I would rather have paid a little more and had a decent fish and chips with one big piece of fish like many other area eateries. I saw the two piece ( it’s on the menu at $18) and it wasn’t much better. Just two tiny pieces of fish. I felt it was a lot to pay for basically a plate of fries. The value just wasn’t there. May return ( location is good) and see if the pizza is good. If it’s good I will definitely write a better review.

Decided to try this restaurant due to the good reviews and tasty menu options. The atmosphere inside was very nice. There is also a small outdoor dining area. We ordered the hummus and olivade as well as the oyster mushroom calamari to start. Both dishes were fantastic! I preciously had oyster mush calamari at a different restaurant but this was far superior - very crunchy with a delicious sort of glaze on it. The hummus dish was monstrous and we ended up taking some of it to go. It came with fried breadsticks that were so delicious, and the hummus and olivade were both extremely well made. For mains we had the black bean tacos and the seafood tagliatelle. Both dishes were quite tasty, the flavours were spot on. One complaint I have is the fish was fairly overcooked, otherwise the seafood tagliatelle was perfect. It's heavy food, so be be prepared for a bit of a food coma afterwards! Worth it for these flavours though.. The server was new and somewhat awkward, but he had some interesting things to say and definitely added to the experience. He was attentive and helpful, and overall did a great job. Will be back again to try some more interesting dishes!

Long standing favourite of our family’s. The atmosphere is classy but warm and food is excellent. My personal fav is the French toast breakfast -hazelnut crusted bread with tree island yogurt and maple syrup -so, so tasty and can order 1,2 or 3 slices. Hamburgers are great and west coast hash too. The owners visit the tables and are super people. We liked it so much we asked if our son could work there!

We thoroughly enjoyed our V-day dinner here. It has served as a "special occasion" place for us for a number of years. The last time here was February 2020. I'm glad to report that the food remains superior. We reserved 2 weeks ahead, and we were only able to get an early reservation for 5:00, and had specified a booth. When we arrived, we were told that they were booked, but the host relented and let us take one if we could be finished by 6:30. Being early diners and not into lingering after dark, we agreed, so it was a win-win. Very gracious, friendly, and efficient service. Vegetables that came with Chicken Breast were beautifully cooked. Seafood Tagliatelle was delicious, though some of the fish bits were a fraction over-cooked. Not enough to leave it on the plate, though! The sauce was heavenly, and the pasta done to perfection.

Our golf 4some, with spouses, FINALLY felt comfortable enough to have our much delayed Christmas outing. We chose Avenue, partly because it's a favourite for some of us & partly because they cater to my wife's food allergies. Service was excellent as was the food - all of us enjoyed whatever we had ordered, washed down with wine from a very good list. My wife actually had multiple choices beyond mussels or salmon!! We won't be waiting so long for our next visit, hopefully

A friend and I ate at Avenue this past weekend. We waited almost 60 minutes for our appetizers. The server did not once approach us to let us know there was a delay with our food nor did the owners, but they continued to walk by us for an hour. We finally received our first two dishes, the food was amazing. After our appetizers we then waited for at least 20 minutes before our dirty plates were cleared to allow for our final dishes to be served. Again, the server and the owners walked by our table several times and did not clear our plates. The restaurant was not full and I am shocked as to the awful service from the owners. I will send huge kudos to the Chef, this was the recovery for our evening. I would give the food a 5 star, as for the service, I would maybe give it a one star. Message to the owners, you have an amazing gem of a restaurant, your chefs food was amazing. Do not ignore your guests. Help your servers! If there is a delay in the food, no problem, talk to your guests.

After a busy weekend we decided to have take out. I called Avenue at 545 pm and ordered the Tuna Nest, Mediterranean Salad and Tannadice pizza. The Albacore tuna was rare as expected with a dusting of togarashi spice. crispy slaw with a tasty avocado mousse and black vinegar. Excdllent start. The MediterraneN salad had lots of flavours with crisp veggies and 2 side of a creamy balsamic dressing. Now we were 2 for 2! The pizza was not short of toppings and features Meats from Tannadice, a very reputable local farm. Tomato sauce was nice and rich with deep flavours. House made for certain! Very happy with our dinner. 3 for 3!

Writing a review of a restaurant is a first for me, as a previous restaurant owner I understand things can go wrong. This was blatant rudeness on the part of the owner. There are a multitude of fast food restaurants in this town. If I want to eat and run I can go there. We go to dine! That means that we will order wine, order an appetizer, main course and sometimes dessert. When you tell a customer they have 90 minutes and at the 60 minute mark we are warned that we have to leave in 30 min, what kind of customer service is that? Not the first time you have done this, if you had a line up at the door, if there were no empty tables I might have understood, This was not the case. We continued our discussion for another 30 minutes on the street where we were parked. You have lost good regular customers, you should take some lessons from Martine's they know what customer service is. Not only that the owner always has a smile on his face!

We ordered take-out last night and were delighted with our meals. I had the New York Striploin Classic Dinner with roasted potatoes, veggies and the red wine sauce. It was awesome. An excellent cut of meat, spiced to perfection and the red wine sauce made it the perfect meal. My wife had the 1 piece cod and chips and was equally impressed. The batter was just right and the truffle fries were delicious. We capped the meal off with a blueberry cheesecake that was first-class. Our dinners came out of the kitchen moments after I arrived. Hats off the the owners and staff at Avenue Bistro for always delighting our taste buds and for your service excellence. We cannot wait to get our second vaccination so we can resume dining-in.

This is my second review of the Avenue. My first was a glowing report on their excellent Tagliatelle it was superb and I stand by that review. Now comes the bad. Just returned from "Father's Day" full rack of ribs. Those ribs never should have left the kitchen, they gave new meaning to the word tough. I give credit when it is due and I call out a "Poor Meal" when it is served. The veggies were excellent, hence the two stars. The ribs were such that I ate 1/2 the order and when the server asked if I wanted a box for the second 1/2 I declined. Very surprised that any Cook would serve ribs done so poorly.

We tried Avenue with some trepidation, as locals warned us that it used to be very good, but has changed with new ownership. The menu seems to be skewing to the heavier Germanic style of food (not attractive in summer warmth), but we were able to make a meal of some lighter fare and found it enjoyable, if somewhat expensive for what it is. We made a special effort to get the oyster mushroom "calimari", as people seem to rave about this dish. It was nice, nothing special or creative. One of our group noted that the salmon salad was excellent.

First meal at a restaurant since COVID-19 restrictions were put in place. Avenues was open and we sat inside. Fewer tables but still okay. Simone was our waiter and he did a great job. We shared a Caesar salad to start , very good. Our mains were the sockeye salmon and the seafood linguine. Both cooked perfectly and both had a bit of spice (heat). Wine was a 40 Knots rose. Dessert was the sticky date pudding which we shared and it was delicious. Overall a great dinner.
