We found this little gem by accident on a detour we decided to take driving through the Malahat as so many restaurants were closed that day in Mill Bay. Short detour really. But worth it to check out Shawnigan snd area if you haven’t done...so. The restaurant is very small, just a few tables. Patio wasn’t open so we ate inside. We noticed portion sizes are generous. We ordered the soup and it was awesome. Full of veg and tortilla chips and cheese and sour cream etc! Very satisfying! I have a big appetite and I was full! There seemed to be just the one employee cooking , serving, and taking orders but she was lovely with a big smile and kept up with orders. If you want the speed of fast food this it isn’t but it was reasonable wait time ( maybe 10 minutes or less) and it was all made fresh. Time for us to relax and chat. Water is provided. Totally will go back!! We must try the burritos which seemed huge.More

Here for a family event, stopped in for a quick bite and a beer because we spotted the sunny patio. Very glad we did. $20 all in for three packed & very tasty carnitas (shredded pork) soft tacos and a pint of draft. Excellent value....The soft tacos have two small tortillas each - they need it because the fillings were to the rim. Pork was perfectly cooked, shredded, toppings were fresh, salsa tasty. Loved sitting in the colorful patio under sunbrellas Carlos was friendly and checked on us a couple times. Definitely a great spot to stop into if you're in Shawnigan!More

From the minute we walked in we should have turned around and went elsewhere. Decided to give it a try, ordered tacos (6) a beer and a sofa $50.00 tip included. Paid and seated ourselves outside on the patio, surrounded by some dead plants and...an ant infested bench seat. 10 minutes later our slop was served, ate some of it finished our drinks and left. When in Shawnigan Lake this is one restaurant to avoid!More

I was so hungry & had to meet a realtor in 10mins. I didn't even look at the menu, just stated I'm vegetarian& & in a big hurry. The 2 woman were amazing! They worked together & created a fabulous burrito for me! 🇲🇽🌯🤤💚💙

Failed sadly We went in in the middle of a quick road trip and saw Mexican and thought that would be a great place for lunch. The shop looks good the decor and patio are nice the counter is colourful but the chalkboard menu on...wall is incorrect pricing and is different than the pricing on the display counter. The two young girls behind the counter tried as best they could to answer my question but they really didn't no the business or the product. The burrito was quite possibly one of the worst things I've ever had I threw out literally 6 to 8 oz of the heavy doughy tortilla and there was really no Mexican flavour in the beef whatsoever. I couldn't taste the spice or the guacamole and the ice coffee was just cold coffee that was coffee cold. They also didn't have any flavours for iced coffee and the girls didn't know any of the pricing of the pounds of coffee for which package was which price. Tons and tons more training for their Saturday staff is needed correct invisible pricing on they're take out stuff and they really need new beef burrito recipe . probably won't get a second shot.More

Authentic homemade Mexican food, made from scratch up in the GWN. Wonderful family restaurant with good staff. Short of going on a quest for the perfect burrito somewhere in Mission district San Francisco or in Mexico itself, best burritos I've ever had. The only place...comparable that I've been to for Mexican food is tacos at Guisados in LA (but let's not start a flame war between the Burrito vs. Taco crowd). P.S. Attention all cyclists riding the Sooke Wilderness Trail, Shawnigan Lake, Cowichan Trail or super keeners doing hill repeats on Goldstream Heights. After you are sufficiently "nuked" and need to refuel, make a bee-line for this place. You'll love it...More

I've been here a few times since they opened. I'm not really sure why I returned as the first time I was very disappointed. The food is authentic of a sort but the prices are astronomical for the portion size and the flavors just aren't...there. I'm accustomed to the crazy prices we pay for 'street' tacos here in Canada - some $3-5 for a 2 or 3 bite 'snack' but the portions here were even smaller and the prices even higher. You'd really need to spend $15-20 for a snack that comes with no sides.More

Fantastic food and friendly, authentic Mexican owner. I went there today after a long and fruitless day of fishing on the lake with the boys. We were famished and looking for anywhere to fill the void that catching no fish creates. I had a fish...burrito, of course. It was as if a flavour explosion bomb had ignited. The sauce was sweet and spicy, and the fish was tender and flaky. In that moment, It tasted like Poseidon and King Triton had fertilized each other in my mouth to make a love baby rock fish. I turned to the boys and said "damn", and then we fist bumped and said "no homo" cause sharing the experience of devouring those sexy burritos just felt kinda naughty. It was the perfect ending to a tough day. Plus, I didn't get covid. Thanks, Señor Mexican Man <3More

Stopped in here because the other two eateries nearby were closed. Terrible mistake. I ordered a beef burrito. The worst burrito I have ever eaten, in fact among the worst anything I have ever eaten. A disgusting greasy mess. Literally grease pouring out of it...as I tried to eat it. Gave up halfway through. The beef wasn't even seasoned. I couldn't even sit there and finish my beer. Grubby premises and grubby employees.More

This is the best Authentic Mexican food in the area, and it is located in the heart of quaint Shawnigan Lake Village a block from the water. They have fantastic tacos and burritos, and they make an outstanding margarita. I highly recommend!

It was Taco Tuesday when Tacos are 10% off. We ordered three to split as we just wanted a snack. Well....three of them for one person would have been a snack. The chicken tacos were pretty good. I liked the beef taco....although the beef could...have been more spiced. Then I had to have a fish taco in order to make this an even decent sized snack. It was............so-so. Not much fish in it. The soft taco tortillas are pretty good. The washrooms were clean....except for the big bucket filled with dirty water for cleaning the floors.More

A healthier yet delicious choice! Homemade tortillas and sauces. Absolutely scrumptious. Amazing coffee. It's small, but there's a great patio outside for those Summer nights.
