I was in town for the night. I purposely wanted to eat here because last summer, I had a fabulous meal and was looking forward to the same experience. It was a beautiful night and we sat on the deck. It was busy and our server did an okay job. Our water wasn’t refilled, and she never asked how our meals were. She never checked on us other than to take our orders and serve our food. I had the planked salmon with rice, seasonal veggies and the chutney. It was okay but lacked flavour and had a crazy dark yellow colour to the rice and veggies. Additionally, the rice was cold, and the veggies were cold and barely cooked. It definitely was not worth the price tag. Last summer, I ordered the same dish and the presentation and flavour were far superior. I honestly couldn’t believe it was the same dish. I don’t know what changed in ten months, but my dish last summer was far superior both in taste as well as presentation. Tonight was a huge disappointment.

Dear Tracy N I do apologize for the quality of your meal and service. The hospitaly buisiness has been turned upside down and inside out, and we are still trying to come out of Covid Management. Certainly no excuse for what you experienced. We are working hard to get better and hopefully in the near future we will back to the great food and great service you are used to.. please let me know when you join us again and I will try and make it up to you Jim Gertridge General Manager

The Rodd Miramichi’s 1809 Restaurant was our chosen venue for a “BeforeThey Say I Do” gathering. We hosted the wedding party, their partners and families of the Bride & Groom. All 23 invites included a menu to pre-order meals. The servers delivered a variety of Dinners, Steak, Chicken, Salmon, Stir Fry, etc. Every meal was excellent. Our thanks to the Chef ! The two Servers were well organized, efficient, and likable. Thanks ladies !

We had a great experience. Our server was natural and knowledgeable. The food was fresh and the portions very reasonable. The ambience was lovely with nice music, adequately spaced tables, and a beautiful view of the River and bridge from a corner table. We had salads followed by mains, would recommend any of what we had (striploin, baked haddock, and seafood linguine). Thank you!

Dining room stark and lacks ambience. The great view of the river doesn't compensate for poor service and tasteless food. The menu did not have enough choices. The fish platter was sparse and tasteless. I have had a lot of meals to compare it to. The stir fry had a sweet flavor but no other flavoring. The chicken pieces and veggies were ample. The drinks were also up to par---watered down with too much ice to keep its flavor.

Dear KatherinesH6923H The starkness of the restaurant, shows we are still not out of Covid19. I may be a bit too conservation, but I would rather keep all our guests safe. There have been too many starts and stops on how we manage safety day to day. As for the food & service absolutely no excuse. We are better and should have shown you this. Should you come back this way please let me know and we willtry and make this up to you regrds Jim Gertridge General Manager

So very disappointed after making a reservation for a Mother’s Day brunch. I made a reservation for 8 people and the earliest we could get in was 1:45 for Mother’s Day and had horrible service. We were thrown menus and told we have 10 minutes to order or they would stop serving breakfast. I had specified in the comments on my booking that this was a BRUNCH. After receiving our food the waitress gave me the bill without asking if we wanted dessert, coffee or anything else. When we asked for a dessert menu we were treated as if we were a bother and then after receiving the desserts and coffee I was given another bill without being asked if we needed anything else. I have never received poor service at this restaurant before however I was so embarrassed by what happened today when my mother and grandmother couldn’t enjoy their brunch because of this poor service.

Considering this was a special Thanksgiving event, this family of 12 expected a far better dining experience. Unfortunately the stunning view of the river does not compensate for the mediocre meal we were served. Although the service was friendly and attentive, the meal which cost an exorbitant $36.00 per plate, was a huge disappointment! For such a cost and it being a special occasion, one would expect at the very least , tablecloths and proper utensils. For example, were given a knife or either salad fork/ dinner fork to eat with. Zero class. Staff need to be trained on how to set a table. The meal itself arrived lukewarm and all 12 of us certainly could not return it to be reheated. We ordered additional gravy so we could add heat to our meal. Although the presentation of the food was nice, the dinner had many things lacking. The stuffing appeared to come out of a box while the turkey was dry and sometimes grisly. The only thing that tasted homemade were the mashed potatoes and carrots. Finally, dessert was not as advertised as there were no choices of homemade desserts. We were simply served a small piece of “toffee pudding” with no offer of coffee or tea unless we were willing to pay an additional charge. Final Recommendation: Sadly there has been no change to the quality of the food at this restaurant. Do not eat here for any special occasions and be wary of other things on their menu. Breakfast was acceptable ( we stayed here for five days). Also avoid their pasty seafood chowder. It is terrible and the recipe hasn’t changed in over three years despite a new chef supposedly being hired. I was told this several years ago and nothing has changed.

Sorry to say but the food was terrible. Seafood chowder was 95% potato’s swimming in a white flour sauce, the Fettuccine Alfredo on menu says @ homemade sauce but arrived ….. @ Penne noodles and jar sauce @ a few pieces of tasteless chicken. The waitress took the chowder off our bill but we did not want to embarrass her further, it is not her fault the food was poor. Yes it is covid times … yes we all have to have patience etc, but we could not recommend this restaurant for anything other than a drink!

Visited on September 12th, 2022. Appetizer of hummus and red pepepr dip with naan bread was decent. Drink menu didn't disappoint. 50 minutes after ordering the mains, I got the classic burger. Outside was crisp and nice, inside was pink and red. Serving staff were very apologetic, and handled it promptly. I was told (by the manager) they are waiving the burger from the bill and was offered another as a replacement, but I was not going to wait another hour for it to be fully cooked, nor was I hungry for it. Our server thought that was unacceptable and ended up waiving the entire bill (glass of wine, pint of beer, fish and chips, and the raw burger). She also gave us a massive slice of their chocolate cake with tea and coffee as an apology. After experiencing that, I don't think we'll be back, nor would we recommend anyone go here for any type of cooked meal. Just to mention again - our server was great.

There's an M&M Meat Shops location across the road, part of us wonders if that vendor is providing the food for 1809's "Pub Fare" section. Top to bottom, it was a miss. White sangria like syrupy canned pineapple chunks and white wine. Creamy bacon carbonara swimming in oil with an Alfredo sauce that had broken so badly my wife needed to transfer the noodles to a secondary plate and remarked "I can't believe someone let this leave the kitchen" Twice baked potato was undeniably frozen and flavorless. I've had possibly the same one before, it comes individually wrapped at stores like M&M Meats. Wings were fine, but nothing convinces me the chef did anything more than opening the frozen package and heating them to the appropriate temperature. Just overall disappointing from a restaurant with a lot of competitive advantages (not to mention location) that should make it untouchable in Miramichi. Service was ok, but there's little extra the wait staff could have done to save this meal. It's nothing like the website presents (ps. Update your menu to reflect current options) and nothing like the reviews circa 2019. Feeling bait and switched.

This was a difficult one to respond to Mr. Moyers the only thing Ican say is Chef Dan Obeng joined us mid Sept and has educated and trained his team to put our great food with great service i would encourge yu to return to see the difference Jim Gertridge General Manager

The roast chicken dinner was dry and without flavour (just au jus). The server offered another choice on the menu which was satisfactory: chicken on a bun (not fresh crusty bun) with BBQ sauce and nice salsa topping but I think they used the same dry chicken and masked it with the sauce. I could not believe that they did not have specialty coffee. They only had 2 choices for dessert. Without any specialty coffee, who wants dessert?

It's our first time in Miramichi and we opted for 1809 for our dinner on the first night as it seems upscale and has a nice view of the river. The service was slow, we were seated at 730 and our dinner were finally serves at 840, more than an hour's wait for dinner was quite unacceptable. And the worst part was the dinner was served cold, I ordered the seafood chowder and seafood linguine, can you imagine eating cold soup and pasta!!! My husband ordered the signature 1809 burger and it was really dry, he commented that the McDonald's burger was more moist. The only plus point is the server is really pleasant and she was very apologetic about the whole experience. But this will our first and our last. Never again.

So first three times we went here was actually really good. The next time we brought guests because it was so good and it was horrible . Understaffed and the poor waitress was so stressed something was going on you could tell she was almost in tears. The food was lacking and they not even have rice for my meal. The scallops overcooked and the wait was incredibly long . We decided to try it again with company thinking maybe a one off issue nope went back food was not good and service was poor. Sad it’s a really nice place but you can’t make money off sunsets alone the food has to be good and the service is a must.

Lovely view, intimate space, attentive staff, good food. What more could you want? We had the classic burger with twice baked potatoes and the pineapple curry with tofu. Both were very good and we did not find the prices excessive.

We went to 1802 while on a road trip from. My husband had the lobster roll with sweet potato fries and the beet salad. I had the baked haddock with garlic mashed potatoes and seasonal veggies. My haddock was overcooked and very dry, my garlic mashed potatoes were cold, instant mashed potatoes without garlic! The veggies were also cold! They brought me hot instant mashed potatoes, and veggies. I was extremely disappointed with my meal. We had planned to have dessert but I was so disappointed with my meal that we stayed long enough to eat and left.

We had supper here on our most recent visit. I had the chicken quesadilla and Caesar salad and a beer, which I enjoyed. The waitress was very nice and efficient. My family also enjoyed their meals. There’s a lot of challenges for business these days and for the workers and I’m happy to be able to go out and have a meal.
