We ate at this restaurant one afternoon with another couple. It has a great view on the beach adjacent to the sea caves. It’s not a fancy place but the food is very good. You place your order at the counter and they bring it...to your table. There is an inside dining area and an outside patio dining area. My wife ordered the lobster roll and I the clam platter. The other couple ordered the clam platter and fish and chips. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The prices were reasonable.More

Best place to eat in St Martins. Never had a bad experience here. Seafood casserole is my go to. Have been going to this place for about 25 years now

I had the fish and chips. The fries, which were fresh cut, were perfect. Seasoned just right, perfectly crispy and crunchy outside and soft inside. Best french fries i have ever had anywhere. The haddock was lightly battered and crispy, not greasy at all, and...the fish inside it was perfectly cooked, beautiful quality. Best battered fish I've ever had. I enjoyed it so much, I ate the fish, and I bagged up the rest of the fries I couldn't eat to have as a snack later (yes, they were that good). Then I realized that if they made the best fish and chips, I had to try the chowder while I was there. So, I ordered the chowder to go. I had it later that evening, maybe a couple hours later. It was still warm, I wondered if I needed to reheat it, so I gave it a taste... and to heck with heating it, because I was eating it. And I couldn't stop eating it, because each mouthful was delightful, with perfectly cooked seafood morsels and textures and flavours that just knocked me off my feet. Every bite was perfect. And, yes, it is seriously THE BEST CHOWDER I have ever had - eating that chowder was a spiritual experience. I will go back for more. Hats off to the staff and to the chef.More

Stopped in for a meal after some sightseeing. Ordered 2 x 2 piece fish and chips, 1 x 3 piece fish and chips and a fried clam platter. Way too much food for 2 adults and 2 kids - but very very good. Not too...much batter, and the fries were perfect. Not sure if it was bc of the pandemic - but had some sticker shock when I went to pay and the price with a 20% tip was $109. Happy to support the local economy though. Would go again for sure.More

My family and I decided to drive down to the St. Martins Sea Caves this afternoon, and see if things were open, albeit with precautions. The caves were accessible, and a significant number of people were there, with everyone distancing and some with masks. We...were delighted to see that The Caves Restaurant was also open, though with a socially distanced line, and proper spacing for tables. They still serve huge portions of the best fish and chips in New Brunswick.More

Nearly closed for the season but hang’en on in late Sept, the Caves Resteraunt was the perfect place to have a tasty dinner, chat with friendly wait staff, and watch the tides peak right outside the window. See our trip in my blog ... just...click my picture and select the address below it.More

As part of our Saint John all day bus tour from our cruise ship, our lunch was included in the tour price. The Caves Restaurant was our lunch destination. Since it serves many bus tours the atmosphere was typical of places that serve large numbers...of people. Yes, it offered large tables which seated eight persons per table. I agree is was crowded, but gave us a chance to meet some on our tour who were from Sicily. They spoke limited English (more than my limited Italian or Sicilian) so we were able to have a conversation. In my opinion the chowder was excellent, southern style biscuits fantastic, can of soda or iced tea and two soft cookies were a delicious dessert. This restaurant is directly on the shoreline with views of the St. Martins Sea Caves. We had the opportunity to wander around the beach shoreline and visit the sea caves while there was a low tide.More

We arrived with a tour to see the Caves. It was about 1:30pm and our guide called ahead on this blustery, cold rainy day. We were told the inside dining room was full and we'd have to eat outside, which would have been terrific on...a day even 20% better than this one. When we arrived, even though they knew we were coming, we were left to wipe down chairs and tables ourselves with napkins we scrounged. After about 15 min a young man came out with a few paper towels to help, but most of us had already tackled this on our own. In addition, the line was out the door about 25 people long to place orders, and we lined up after those. Most of us just had one person from each family order something, anything, as none of us had eaten since early morning before our tour began. My husband and I had bowl of chowder and a soda, about $30! However the chowder was some of the best we've ever had. Lots of fresh seafood and a very creamy well seasoned base. The line for the ladies restroom was almost 15 minutes. For a place that encourages large tour buses, this certainly not welcoming. The restaurant sign proclaims Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence". I've attached a photo, but while the chowder was indeed excellent, I would rate rest of the experience there as 2 stars. They need more staff, more restrooms, or don't try to encourage large tour groups. There were 3 buses while we were there.More

After Thanksgiving, the Caves restaurant is open only when cruises dock in the Saint John harbour. If definitely closes for the season early November (when cruises season ends as well). It re-opens early May.
