So after a very busy schedule I suggested to my wife that we head out to THE CAves for lunch last week; despite it being crowded with buses from the cruise ships we were served in a rather seamless way; the staff were exceptional, the service second to none and the seafood we ordered was over the top. delicious ,value added and simply sensational. We even met the ever pleasant and engaging owner....Truly it was a high-light of our side trips we have been making in our province...and truly a must STOP for ALL travellers.

When our cruise ship docked in St. John, New Brunswick, my husband and I took a tour to Bay of Fundy. While it was fun walking the ocean floor at low tide and seeing the sandstone caves, our fond memory of this trip was eating the lobster rolls and chowder at The Caves Restaurant located nearby. The food was absolutely delicious – fresh and perfectly seasoned! Glad the restaurant took VISA because we didn’t have any Canadian money. We wished we could’ve spent more time here, but we were on a tour so time was limited. Of all the places we visited today, this meal stood out the most for us – oh, and walking on the exposed ocean floor of Bay of Fundy!

Visited The Caves on a mini-van tour. The chowder was highly recommended but I had Bay of Fundy scallops. Delicious! Flakey fried crust and the scallops melted in my mouth. It is a quaint seashore cafe - no frills, but they seemed capable of serving the tourist buses as well as small groups such as ours.

It’s our last night here in St. Martin’s so we picked The Caves Restaurant to eat at. It was an experience. I looked at the menu prior, along with a few photos…it was quite clear what type of food we were going for. It looked like your typical fries, fish, hamburger joint. You knew you weren’t getting any fresh local greens etc. from local gardens – you were getting a grease meal! We had already visited the sea caves a few times so we had walked past this restaurant and had seen folks out on the deck. We walked in on the deck and as my wife stood there, I gave her a nudge and said, I don’t think this is one of these spots where you wait to be seated. The spot was busy…we grabbed an uncleaned table as it was the only one that just came available. The wife took our orders and walked in through the doors to place the order. She then came out another set of doors with some water, ketchup and utensils. We cleaned the table from the previous patrons and there we waited – not long, our food appeared. As mentioned, we knew what to expect in regards to the food quality and yes, it was good – the fries had more grease in them than potato. I ordered the club – wife ordered a fish and chip – kid #1 had a burger and fries and kid #2 had a grilled cheese and fries. All was devoured except fries but only because there was to many I kept seeing signs that mentioned, “best chowder, best fish and chips…” – that club sandwich was perfect. It came out exactly like I wanted it to with zero disappointment. I wasn’t a fan of the seating arrangements and ordering style – it’s very chaotic.

It was a mad house when we were there. There was at least two bus loads of cruisers & other smaller groups. We sat outside in the sun& it was nice. I think at a time without bus loads, it would have been great. You can walk out to the Bay of Fundy from there. Food was very good. Idk about Canada pricing. We had two large bowls of excellent chowder with biscuits on the side & a drink & it was $36.78 before tip. Our friends had fish & chips which was also excellent. You order & pay at the counter & they bring it out to you. I think if you go to Bay of Fundy this is a must do.

Being part of a tour group we could only sample their chowder which turned out to be good. The waitresses did a good job trying to serve so many people quickly. If visiting again I would like to try other menu items in their full sit down restaurant. I do have one big complaint - whoever designed the restroom should be fired and forced to use them for all eternity. There were two rooms, one for men and one for women. Each had two "stations" - commodes for the women and a commode and urinal for men. Neither had space to wait in line inside so as to make the lines move a little faster. Once a patron took care of business they would wash their hands inside the station and then exit. This slowed the process to a snail's crawl. This did not work with the huge number of people who had to wait.

You enter through a covered patio that is right on the beach. Once inside you order and the meal is brought right to your table, wether inside seating or inside seating with a view of the caves! We ate there twice during our stay in St Martin. First time we ordered the fishermans platter with scallaps, haddock, shrimp and clams served with a side of fries. Fish was fried to perfection! Second time, we tried a cup of fish chowder and biscuit. The chowder was rich and creamy full of large pieces of lobster, shrimp, haddock and clams. The homemade biscuits were light, fluffy, and melt in your mouth delicious!

We stopped at this local restaurant for a quick bite during our tour from Saint John and were delighted with the experience. This diner appears to be for more locals than tourists so we liked it, even though we are tourists. Lol. We shared the lobster roll, the terrific fresh French fries, tasty cole slaw, the seafood chowder, and the Moulsen Light beer. All of it really hit the spot.

Excellent Fried Clams! I am a fried clam snob and these were excellent. The seafood chowder was very tasty but expensive. The lobster roll was nice but I wish we had ordered the fish and chips instead. Although the lobster roll was good...This is not the best place to get a lobster roll but the other food highly recommend!

We were taken here by family members after visiting funday trail. Being from Alberta, we don’t get food like this. It was beyond good. Fresh, hot, delicious, service was very good too. If we lived here, or a heck of a lot closer than a 5 day drive, we’d be eating here if not bi weekly…. At least once a month! It was soooo good.

Stopped in for a meal after some sightseeing. Ordered 2 x 2 piece fish and chips, 1 x 3 piece fish and chips and a fried clam platter. Way too much food for 2 adults and 2 kids - but very very good. Not too much batter, and the fries were perfect. Not sure if it was bc of the pandemic - but had some sticker shock when I went to pay and the price with a 20% tip was $109. Happy to support the local economy though. Would go again for sure.

We came her for a "snack" while visiting the sea caves. Ingredients are fresh with good portion size. The seafood chowder has plenty of lobster meat and the soup was creamy and smooth, but a bit too thick and covered up some of the flavors of the seafood. Service was very friendly and efficient, and it was very relaxing to sit outside by the sea .

We came to see the caves. The restaurant was an unexpected surprise. The food was fantastic - sweet lobster roll and tasty seafood chowder. We sat on the porch, which has a great view of the sea caves. The service was excellent as was the price point!

The seafood casserole is a waste of money for what you get. The portion size wasn't even enough to feed a toddler. Only had 1 small scallop, 1 small shrimp and 2 bite size pieces of haddock and 2 bites of potato. That's it for $20.

I loved to have ordered the seafood casserole as well !however because of an onion allergy couldjust watch him enjoying an excellent meal! he compared to the seafood he got in northern NB . I enjoyed my lobster roll! I wish they would not cook the fries with the onion rings though.A beautiful setting with wonderful staff! Excellent !!!!!!!
