About
Skipper's Restaurant serves up a broad menu of homemade, delicious meals. We serve Atlantic crab, local lobster, salmon, mussels (all when in season) Atlantic Cod, cod tongues, scallops, shrimp- just to name a few seafood options, as well as grilled chicken, pork ribs, spaghetti and meatballs, 7 oz. burgers, sandwiches, fresh soups and salads, homemade desserts, etc. Everything is homemade and prepared on site in our kitchen. Skipper's is also located directly on the water, so we offer the most amazing views of the harbour. Watch fishermen come in with their daily catch, see icebergs glisten under the summer sun and watch whales spout as they frolic in the cool Atlantic waters. Why not make

Did not have a reservation but met a couple after our iceberg zodiac trip who highly recommended. The restaurant was busy but we were willing to sit in the deck. We enjoyed cod fish cakes, Caesar salad along with Quidi Vidi Iceberg beer and IPA...Dayboil. We were full but the couple told us to have the Warm Partridgeberry pudding. We indulged and thoroughly enjoyed. Highly recommendMore

There wasn’t much open in Bonavista in terms of places to eat. This place was open and we definitely enjoyed our dinner and drinks there. I’m not a seafood eater, so the spaghetti was perfect. Service was great too. Definitely worth trying.

Ate here in July and had a nice meal of mussels and fish and chips. Dessert was excellent although I cannot remember the name. Service was good. Great view of the ocean. There were some loud women in the restaurant that was annoying, but that...was some thing that the management could not have any control over.. Would definitely eat there again.More

Our bus group dined here for lunch. I had the chicken and broccoli dish and my wife had the lasagna. Each was so flavorful and served warm. We had chocolate cake and lemon pie for dessert

Although we are not sure that it is the same chain from USA, but the Skipper's name was recognizable, so we stopped. Our meal of Salt Fish Cakes and cole slaw was quite tasty, the house chardonnay was fine and the service was attentive. Although...the restaurant was just a large, unattractive space, it was fine for our lunch. We had no complaints.More

Love this spot! Let me first start by saying could the people working here be more lovely??? I mean, truly gems of human beings. Should I move here? Maybe. Or at least book a trip back for the October 8th party? Maybe. I dont know....Im debating it. Barely made it in before close and still let us put an order in and smiled the whole time. Welcoming and lovely and the food was great. Highly recommend!!!More

Came in for an early dinner/supper before the crowds. Service was great, food was outstanding and fresh. You pay for what you get here.. only minor comment.. please fix the table for 5 as it wobbles :) Thank you for the great meal.

We went to Skipper’s on a Friday evening and lucked out as there was live music-Ben Dooley singing to us as we had dinner. We sat outside in the patio and had pan fried cod(excellent) and a chicken salad sandwich with chef salad(yummy) then we...topped it off with Carmel cheesecake. The service was good and the food was excellent and reasonably price. Recommend to everyone to try this restaurant out.More

The food and service was excellent. We had the salmon and seafood lasagna. They were both delicious. We really enjoyed the history of the J T Swyers Co Ltd and the artifacts tastefully displayed in the restaurant.

Had a great time and a good meal. Restaurant / Pub well located in the bay in the center of Bonavista, NL. Nice terrasse in the back to enjoy a sunny evening and to enjoy the calm water of the sea and its harbour.

Cod tongues with scrunchions. I asked for and received a side order of rhubarb chutney. I dined alone with a book; the music was soft, and the conversations of other guests was muted.

We stayed in the hotel so had several visits to the restaurant. The view of the harbour is terrific and with one of the delicious specialty cocktails it’s even better. The fish and chips are one of the best I have tasted and the lobster...(on our second visit) was fresh having been taken from the tank to prepare. The pea soup is a meal in itself. Service was prompt and friendly.More
