Although we are not sure that it is the same chain from USA, but the Skipper's name was recognizable, so we stopped. Our meal of Salt Fish Cakes and cole slaw was quite tasty, the house chardonnay was fine and the service was attentive. Although...the restaurant was just a large, unattractive space, it was fine for our lunch. We had no complaints.More

Love this spot! Let me first start by saying could the people working here be more lovely??? I mean, truly gems of human beings. Should I move here? Maybe. Or at least book a trip back for the October 8th party? Maybe. I dont know....Im debating it. Barely made it in before close and still let us put an order in and smiled the whole time. Welcoming and lovely and the food was great. Highly recommend!!!More

Came in for an early dinner/supper before the crowds. Service was great, food was outstanding and fresh. You pay for what you get here.. only minor comment.. please fix the table for 5 as it wobbles :) Thank you for the great meal.

We went to Skipper’s on a Friday evening and lucked out as there was live music-Ben Dooley singing to us as we had dinner. We sat outside in the patio and had pan fried cod(excellent) and a chicken salad sandwich with chef salad(yummy) then we...topped it off with Carmel cheesecake. The service was good and the food was excellent and reasonably price. Recommend to everyone to try this restaurant out.More

The food and service was excellent. We had the salmon and seafood lasagna. They were both delicious. We really enjoyed the history of the J T Swyers Co Ltd and the artifacts tastefully displayed in the restaurant.

Had a great time and a good meal. Restaurant / Pub well located in the bay in the center of Bonavista, NL. Nice terrasse in the back to enjoy a sunny evening and to enjoy the calm water of the sea and its harbour.

Cod tongues with scrunchions. I asked for and received a side order of rhubarb chutney. I dined alone with a book; the music was soft, and the conversations of other guests was muted.

We stayed in the hotel so had several visits to the restaurant. The view of the harbour is terrific and with one of the delicious specialty cocktails it’s even better. The fish and chips are one of the best I have tasted and the lobster...(on our second visit) was fresh having been taken from the tank to prepare. The pea soup is a meal in itself. Service was prompt and friendly.More

We were a little disappointed with our visit here. The service was as good even though the place was packed. My fish and chips came with frozen fries but our son had the salmon and it was great. I never get dessert but this time...I tried the "death by chocolate " and the name fits because it was so dry one could choke on it. I didn't expect to get a Betty Crocker like cake.More

Efficient, friendly service. Lots of history to the building - explained in the photos and items on the walls. Lobster served already cracked, so you don't have to fight with it. Enjoyed the view while eating.

My friends had the fish and chips and really enjoyed them. I opted for the cod cakes with the mandarin salad. The cod cakes themselves were delicious with large chunks of very tender cod, and they came with a rhubarb pickle which was delicious. The...coffee was decent, restaurant is clean and the view is spectacular.More

We ate at Skipper’s and it was a very good meal. My husband had the turkey sandwich with apple, bacon and he really liked it. I had the creamy seafood lasagna which was very good as well, very creamy and cheesy, delicious!! They had a...few specials that featured a side of pickled rhubarb. I asked to try it and they brought me a small sample at no charge. I liked it too, something I have never had before. The partridge berry steamed pudding was excellent!! I would definitely recommend this restaurant!!More

Excellent place to eat. Great food. The seafood was crab legs or lobster and a host of other choices. We will be back. Wine choices were good as well.

Enjoyed dinner and live music on the patio at Skippers. The atmosphere was amazing, beautiful sunset, entertaining local musicians, I don’t think it can get much better. It was a very memorable evening. The only downside was a large tour group which took up most...of the other tables on the patio long after they had done their meals (leaving clothing and shoes strewn across the tables), allowed their children to run around disturbing other patrons and largely ignored the musicians. The staff did their best to politely ask the tour group to move on so that they could seat other patrons on the patio.More
