Family of four, visited for supper. Busy spot, waited 10 minutes to get in, lots of regulars which is a good sign. Food and service were both excellent. Burger was great, pure beef, fried onions, real cheese but a messy mouthful so be ready. Clubhouse...was good as well, chicken burgers were just as good. Blueberry pie for dessert 👍🏻 We will definitely return and would highly recommend. Staff was very friendlyMore

Gluten free Menu. They have extensive knowledge of celiac disease. The gluten free hot turkey meal is incredible with gluten free gravy, bread and stuffing. They also have gluten free tea biscuits and cookies. Great for families. Extremely clean with covid 19 protocols. Sometimes there...is a wait but it's worth it!More

We stopped for lunch on a rainy day. My husband had the best haddock here throughout our visit to Cape Breton during the Celtic Colours festival. I had fish cakes and fell in love with the green tomato chow-chow that I found later was served...everywhere when fish cakes are on the menu. I had the butterscotch meringue pie which was delicious and piled high with meringue. My husband had the cherry cheesecake, also homemade as this is a bakery after all. The nice touch was the small thermal carafe of coffee for each of us, containing our 2nd refill, but they also brought us more after that.More

We had breakfast there. My daughter had the fishcakes and beans and I had the blueberry pancakes. They were yummy. the restaurant is very homey inside and there was always a lineup of people buying bread and pies. I would go back anytime.

Heard the seafood chowder was outstanding but we were disappointed. It was mostly potatoes. Two little pieces of lobsters on top but that was it. Should of said potato soup. Biscuits and service good but hands down to a $15 bowl of seafood chowder.

The seafood chowder was overloaded with onions. The turkey soup should have been called carrot soup. The clubhouse was good but fries were cold. We usually get a fantastic meal here but sub par that day.

We waited 30 minutes or more for a hot turkey that was cold. People came in after us that got their food first . I won’t be back

Our ferry from Newfound was late arriving in port which meant we arrived at Cedar House Bakery just a few moments before they opened , otherwise had the ferry been on time we would have a much longer wait and probably wouldn't have stopped. We...were so glad the ferry was late , we greatly enjoyed our meal and the treats we purchased to go from the bakery. Knowing how great it is , we would probably have waited the hour for them to open ! Our family had the oatmeal french toast , so great , two nice thick slices and some wonderfully crispy bacon. One ordered the three egg omlette which didn't disappoint. Another had a breakfast sandwhich and hashbrowns, and the fourth a 'Two Egg Breakfast'. Everybody was happy with their meals, there was enough for everybody and the service was wonderful. It is not often my wife requests that I make sure I leave a better tip than 'normal' because the service was so good. We also got some bread to go , and we enjoyed the bisquit with our breakfast so much that we ordered a half a dozen to go. Everything about our experience there was positive, and we would positively go again whenever we near the area.More

Stop here to eat every trip to Cape Breton, and again they did not disappoint! The food was excellent. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and their bakery section was fantastic...again! The restaurant is a little out of the way located close to the Seal...Island Bridge but is close to the Cabot Trail and the Newfoundland Ferry.More

The Cedar House Bakery does not take reservations and is not so busy that you will not be seated immediately. In fact, there is not "waiter/waitress" station, rather find a seat and take it. Although I'm not completely... More
