Obviously this is very popular but that does not necessarily follow it is a tourist trap.Firstly it is located on the water and the staff are very welcoming.
We were aware that their lobster are tanked out of season so obviously that in some ways raises the price but we did not think it was overly expensive at CAN$27 - quite standard compared to other restaurants.
The lobster roll was very good - fresh bread with lobster chunks consistent with what you are paying. It was accompanied by excellent handcut fries

What a find! Located on the east side entrance or exit of the Cabot trail, this place has great food and a spectacular view! They have a lobster pound with live lobsters that gives you the option to go pick your own lobster! The menu is seafood based with options such as burgers, pasta and sandwiches for those not fond of seafood. They have a large dessert selection, all home made! The service was wonderful, very friendly and attentive. It is a great way to start or end your trip around the Cabot Trail!

The wait staff were exceptional and the fish and chips were so fresh and crispy. They waitress said the batter was homemade. I was throughoutly impressed with the dish. The restaurant was a good setting for children too. Crayons are available to keep the youngins occupied. Lol

On the three weeks that I was in the East Coast, this is the only place that HIGHLY would say to avoid. The service and food was crap. Completely crap. If there was a zero star rating I would have given it.
It took us forever to be seated and we have a daughter with special needs. She enjoys looking out the window. When we asked to be placed at the last table by the window we were told, "We are saving that for a table that might come for 6." Even though there was three other tables not by the window for 6. Complete crap. So my kid with autism who was sitting and waiting a long time for any sort of service as the rest of the table decided to sit in the middle of the floor. We didn't even bother to move her. I felt like sitting on the floor as well. Maybe we would have gotten some service.
Our server was short and not friendly. I am not sure if she was uncomfortable with our daughter but for the rest of the trip our child was treated really well. And maybe if we were sat at the table that we asked for that remained empty for the next 40 minutes, maybe she would have been happy to sitting by the window looking at the bay.
Food was sad. This was the most expensive lobster roll we recieved (at 29 bucks) and it had the most lettuce and celery and filling in it. And it wasn't flavourful. And after we paid I did tell the owner about our issues, and she shrugged and said sorry. And nothing. You should be ashamed.
We were greated all over Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, PEI and Cape Breton with hospitality, kindness to our daughter, and good food... but one exeption. Here
Do yourself a favour and bypass here. I rarely ever give 1 star as a food reviewer but this place deserves less than that. What a flipping pitty. No wonder it hasn't been reviewed sinced 2018. People should not even bother. Fairly expensive bill to be insulted.

You can get lobster pretty much anywhere in Baddeck, but this spot, about 10 minutes up the road, is worth the trip. They keep lobsters of multiple weights in a proper tank, so when they say fresh, they mean it. Lobster is steamed and cracked and served with a choice of potatoes or corn. And butter. Lots of butter.
The mussels are a nice starter. We shared a bucket of tender, tasty mussels in a very light wine brine with some toast to sop it all up.
Don't wear anything fancy; even with the tea towels they supply, you will probably end up with a good amount of this mean on your person. Just saying.
Staff are friendly and the service is great. Oh, did I mention the fantastic views? Absolutely stunning, even on a rainy day.

This restaurant was a totally tourist trap and in my 8 days in NS this was by far the worst and most expensive meal. I was contemplating a lobster dinner until I was told the price, $70. Double the price of other reputable places. My fish stew was definitely lacking in actually pieces of fish. Just small bites that looked like they had been salvaged off the dinner plates at the end of the night. I also ordered the crusted haddock and was disappointed. Barely warm mashed potatoes, a turnip mash that needed a LOT of flavour and an oily piece of pan fried fish.
I would not eat here again and I would not recommend to anyone.

Probably 3.5 stars but I liked the bubbly server and the owner that showed us the lobster tanks. She’s selling so your chance is now to buy this restaurant on the Island near Baddeck. We went for Lobster while staying in town. The Lobster Supper was closed so we went here. Nice view of water. Lobster was $62 CAD. It was fun but lobster isn’t my fav. Got a small cob of corn (mushy so pass)…then asked for the small potato portion as side. The lobster was good, had to do it. Remember, the cost of lobster is about $14/lb and we got around 1.5/2 lbs I think so good margin. Fun night to check the box.

My son and I had the fish and chips and were quite disappointed, it was quite ...oily? Not greasy but hard to explain... not very enjoyable and we were both a bit ill after eating it.
My daughter had the grilled haddock- I tried a bite and it was really delicious.
The view from the window side of the restaurant is fantastic.
Staff were friendly.
The restaurant is probably a 4 but giving a 3 since 2/3 of us were dissatisfied and slightly ill after eating there. We finished our meals so we must have liked it enough!

Lobsters definitely but we chose the large bowl of muscles (perfectly steamed in white wine and garlic, ask for extra bread) and a cheeseburger with bacon. We found out that the muscles come out of the harbor just beyond the restaurant (huge 5000+ sock muscle farms in Saint Ann’s Harbor and Bay). Can’t get any more than that. Our server was friendly and attentive. Restaurant was an amazing find with a stunning view.

After a long day of sightseeing and driving, we were looking forward to a seafood dinner. Although the wait staff were very friendly and helpful, the meals were just average. The view from the windows was good (too rainy to sit outside), but our fish (crusted haddock and fish cakes) was forgettable.

We stopped here for a quick dinner after a day on the Cabot Trail. It was around 6:30 and we got the impression they were ready to close. There was only one other table occupied. So we ordered a small meal. The baked potato was shriveled and not hot, skin was like leather. Had to be at least two days old. Baked beans were way under cooked, very crunchy, and floating in heavy syrup. The $12 side ceasar was a small bowl and just seemed overpriced for the size. The server was kind and took the baked beans off the bill, so that was a plus. But other than that, it was a bust.

We were told that the lobster bisque was award winning, let me tell you that that might have been the case many years ago, but not now. It was the worst of our trip, sorry to say. The seafood pasta had little shrimps that tasted like they were off. The lobster dinner was slightly undercooked so the claw meat was a bit soggy. This was also the MOST expensive lobster we had on our trip and sadly the worst. The whole meal was just off. disappointed.

Was definitely not impressed with this establishment. We traveled in Canada for almost two weeks and I would easily say this restaurant is the lowest rated. Lobster roll was very small and certainly not filled with meat. Taste was okay, but nothing to write home about. Nice location but that is not worth the price of lunch. Go somewhere else!

The food was average. Portions were ok. Ordered fish and chips, sea food platter, Thai shrimps, seafood platter, seafood fettuccini Alfredo. Views are 10/10. Okay place to stop by for a quick grab

Restaurant was clean and staff friendly. Again fish & fries and lobster roll. The fish had a nice batter coating on it and fries were ok (frozen). The lobster roll was really good. Left me wanting another one.
