Excellent service, beautifully made and presented breakfast, delicious coffee. Nothing more to needs to be said, really. Just note that they are closed on Tuesdays for sure and possibly Wednesdays also.

Kept missing out on this gem as we were travelling thru during off season. Finally got to try it today. First, super friendly staff/owners. Which is not typical these days, especially in well known tourist towns. Second, the food was fantastic. Super fresh ingredients and...the fresh baked porridge bread was so good. Large sandwiches. The veggie was sooo good (for us vegetarians who are always an afterthought at the majority of restaurants but not at the Highwheeler👍) and the sauce that came with the Cuban (maybe a chimichurri?), well I could eat that sauce on every dish. Will definitely stop there anytime we are passing thru Baddeck 5/5More

A wonderful place for great coffee and baked goods. The scones are to die for. We even picked up a couple of t-shirts! And lovely people behind the counter.

This cafe is the ‘heart of Baddeck’! We went there every day of our stay for an exceptional cup of coffee and pastry and/or sandwiches. Loved the porridge bread and the berry filled pop tarts. We loved being greeted by the owners and staff with...genuine warmth and happiness, and, a great cup,of coffee, too.More

Visited Nova Scotia for 8 days and spent the last part in Cape Breton. We stayed near the High Wheeler Cafe and walked in one morning for a good cup of coffee and breakfast. We were greeted by China and she took our orders with...such great personality and passion as we sat down. The coffee and breakfast were fresh, flavorful and delicious but what really set this place ahead of all others was the friendliness of Americo and Nic, brothers who owned this establishment. They both came over at different times and conversed with us like we were old friends and the sincerity of their personality was very welcoming to us Californians. They asked us a few questions and together we pulled out a map and they plotted some key places we needed to consider during our journey. They wrote down their numbers just in case we needed assistance and introduced Adam, a friend of theirs who sat near us. Honestly I could have conversed for hours but we needed to get on the road. Their recommended places to visit was perfect and awe inspiring. I can saw that Americo, Nic, and China's passion and personality was highly evident in the Cafe's spirit and together with Adam they left a lasting memory for us along with a great cup of coffee and breakfast to fuel our journey. Until next time.More

If you are looking for amazing coffee and delicious baked goods this is the place to go. The staff is very friendly and provide information on the different types of coffee that they roast in house. All the baked goods we had were delicious and...baked in house. The staff made us feel very welcome and if we are ever in the area again it will be our first stop.More

Had several excellent breakfasts here and some take away pastries. Food was fabulous - the cranberry scone was particularly good, and the breakfast bagel also really good. The staff were all friendly and helpful, especially the guy at the front counter each day. Lovely place.

Found this little café across the street from the telegraph house in Baddeck. Excellent choice of sandwiches. I had the BLT on their in-house made oatmeal bread and it was delicious. Another friend had the seafood chowder and said it was amazing. Service was quick...prices are reasonable excellent findMore

Probably the world’s BEST scones and cinnamon rolls. Fresh, light, super tasty and delicious texture. My wife and I agreed that we hadn’t had anything even remotely close since our grandmothers’ passed away. Do not miss this wonderful and friendly little place!

I roamed into High Wheeler Cafe for breakfast with my parents, from the Telegraph motel across the street, and it quickly became the hub for our stay after meeting Rose. We loved our breakfast sandwiches the first morning, and had amazing scones the second morning...(great coffee too!). While there, Rose introduced us to Mac who brought us on a great off-road jeep tour of the South Margaree area and gave us other great suggestions on how to spend our time in Baddeck. The High Wheeler Cafe felt like the main pillar of Main Street.More

We were two couples on a first-time visit to Cape Breton. During three days in Baddeck we visited the Highwheeler three times, and enjoyed it so much that we stopped again on our way back home after taking the ferry back from Newfoundland. The coffee...and pastries were just superb, as were the take out lunches--but what truly distinguishes the Highwheeler is the amazingly friendly and accommodating service. We had heard of Cape Breton's reputation as a welcoming place for visitors--and the Highwheeler is the epitome of that reputation. We felt welcomed from the moment we entered, and when we returned after a week away were remembered and treated like old friends. I should single out the oatcakes, porridge bread, and delicious pastries, as well as the super-friendly counter staff. We came to Cape Breton for the Cabot trail and the ceildh music, and both were great, but the Highwheeler provided us the best introduction to the people and culture of this special place.More
