Yiu definitely get your money's worth in the amount if food you get from The Doryman. Once in awhile their cheese sauce for their cheesy fries isn't all that good unfortunately.. they do have the best wings in town tho...
We went to the Doreyman on recommendation of our hotel owner. I had the Doreyman burger with a "side" of Doreyman poutine. I put side in quotes because it was monstrous! It all tasted wonderful though, especially paired with a Nine Locks Watermelon Blond. My...wife had the Mississippi steak wrap and seemed to enjoy it as well. We managed to catch some of the fiddle music. The crowd certainly enjoyed it, and despite my love of EDM music I was stomping my foot as well. (I'm Nova Scotian, fiddles and bagpipes areas in my DNA).More
During a weekend trip to the Cabot Trail the Doorman Pub & Grill was chose at random for one of our meals. When we first walked in I wasn't sure what to think as it has a bit of a banquet hall kinda feel. Looking...past the decor you will find fabulous views of the water. The service wasn't super fast but staff was very friendly. We had gone in for supper not realizing there was live music starting at six. We got to experience a bit of the music before leaving which was surprisingly good.More
Our Innkeeper recommended The Doryman for dinner as well as for the evenings' entertainment. On the night we were there they had a couple musicians playing fiddle and keyboard for what the Irish would call traditional music. Couldn't have been better. There was a door...charge for the evening entertainment since we arrived late for our dinner but were happy to stay and enjoyed the music and company immensely. Tables were hard to come by with a lot of local people there for the music as well as a few tourists like ourselves. We were able to join a couple of women from England on holiday and enjoyed their company. Both musicians were excellent on fiddle and great on the keyboard as well. The bar had everything we requested starting with A Keith's Red, a Jost Chardonnay and nightcaps of Bailey's Irish Cream.
Dinner included a BLT with side salad and the rib eye steakwith a garden salad and onion rings. Everthing was great. Prices were very reasonable.More

This is again, exactly what we feel we offer at The Doryman. We are very glad you had a lovely meal and evening, hoping to see many more like soon. Being only closed Christmas, Boxing Day and New Years day, we have many open days...More
Service was fine. One gal to do it all, but she was fast and cheerful. The food was expensive, considering it was less than quality. If the chowder was $8 instead of $14, then I would say, ok. I eat seafood chowder wherever I go,...as each cook has their distinct style. This was heavy to thickener and light on the seafood. They did float one small shrimp on top to prove there was sea food. Beer was awful and wine mediocre. Don't bother.More

Though I am happy for your honesty, I feel I have to explain at least a bit ! Our chowder normally gets very great reviews, so I am puzzled . Remember our place is open year round and we need to be a feasible place...More
We loved this place! After a 12 hour drive to Cheticamp we entered the restaurant just as the kitchen was closing. They graciously served us even though we were the only people there. We had a delicious fish chowder and wonderful beer batter fish and...chips. Our server was so friendly, and gave us a lot of information about the area. We felt very at home, it’s totally unpretentious, warm and welcoming. It has a rustic, open, pub like decor with great views of the harbor. In fact, we ended up eating here three times. Besides the chowder and fish and chips, standouts were sweet potato fries with the special sauce and cheesecake desserts. The last night we returned to see fiddler, Colin Grant, and keyboardist, Jason Roach. What a great night, with fantastic musicians and fun company. This is a locals place, but we never felt like tourists.More

If there is live music there is usually a small cover charge for the musicians ... some other locals do free music but place a tip jar ! We would rather be up front with paying for music as it’s been since 1966! Some Fridays is benefit concerts , those are free, as is customer appreciation nights ... wing night special is .70$ a wing! Hope to see you soon
