Recently visited the Red Shoe with my parents and in laws. Everyone had something different on the menu and not a complaint could be heard. People quite enjoyed the meatloaf and others rally liked the scallops. There was live entertainment while we were there which...More

We stopped at The Red Shoe Pub for lunch. We enjoyed our drinks and meals and could sense that this must be a really lively venue for live music in the evenings. The service was friendly and efficient, and the prices were fair. I had...More

We were concerned this would turn out to be tourist trap based on reviews and popularity, but we left feeling we'd just been part of the community. When the entertainer surveyed the audience, most were from "away," but there was a real sense of community....More

Great fun and food. Felt a sorry for folks who showed up after 4:45 PM as all of the tables were full and they do not take reservations. Be sure to show up by 4:30 PM. Also easy to get a table after 7:00 PM,...More

We stopped here for a late lunch. Wonderful room with lively energy. I had the worst and most expensive seafood chowder on our trip to the area. It was a bowl full of paste and vegetables. There was little if any seafood in the chowder....More

I don't believe they take reservations. When there's music, I'd suggest you arrive an hour before the performance begins because the main room fills up quickly. The Red Shoe also has a nice covered patio area where you can... More

Description
We stumbled accross this place this past Saturday, which was the day after it had opened for the season. They are only open from June until October. It is very quaint, and it has the very best seafood chowder of anyplace we found in Nova Scotia or PEI. The waiter was super nice to our group, and honest in admitting he had only started the day before, and hadn't tried all the items on the menu yet. He went back to the chef on a couple of occasions to ask if he could change a menu item for us (which they did), and was very attentive to our lunchtime needs. This is a really good restaurant and should be added to Trip Advisor. Thanks, John Ward Smith
