Excellent fish and chips (wow, their batter is super crunchy). We also got the samosas to go and they are delish. Don't go for the decor, go for the food and the friendly service. So worth it.

The Stretch Diner appears to be trying to re-establishing itself--needs a good scouring and attention to seating (I sat on a wobbly chair that was in much need of attention, so changed it out). Our order was taken and fulfilled in a reasonable amount of...time--served by a polite and attentive staff. The turkey in our club sandwiches was fresh and delicious all way round. Just needs some investment in cleaning, safe seating--general refresh. We'll return.More

Stopped by after not be able to get take out at a Mahone Bay eatery. The fish and chips were cooked perfectly and the portion was just right. The haddock chowder was piping hot with lots of haddock and potatoes. The only recommendation for the...chowder was to maybe cut the potatoes smaller. Thank you for a lovely lunch which allowed us to eat in the car with our dog.More

Our last few takeout experiences during COVID were not good. Small portions, the wrong order, and the place looked filthy when we walked in to pick up the order. We had decided this would be our last time picking up food from the Stretch Diner....Shortly thereafter, we heard that it had been ordered closed due to health violations. Makes sense! Clearly, things haven’t improved because the place looks abandoned. Even their ‘really good fish ‘n chips’ was barely passable at the best of times. Our advice: avoid this place. The owners should put a padlock on the door. What a blight on Chester’s gastronomy.More

Stopped here for lunch during Mayfest. It was a family visit. We were brought menus and it every time we asked for something it was unavailable. I settled on a Caesar salad that’s so drenched in salad dressing I couldn’t eat it. Everything seems to...be watered down which takes away from taste. And my sons meal was supposed to come with a dessert but we’re told they didn’t have any. They only had two staff in the whole place, one in front and one in the kitchen. There where 4 of us and no ones food was very good. The people next to us had to return there coffee because the crème was expired. unfortunately my son has gotten food poisoning from this experience. His meal was fish bites and fries. Very old and run down place and not very attentive staff.More

Visited this location today, it was late opening, so we waited. My wife and I and our friends all ordered fish and chips. The fish was rotten, it was the absolutely disgusting, I've never smelled fish like this.

Been camping in Graves Island for a long time and finally tried this restaurant . Was hoping this was one of those rare place where the food is amazing and what a total disappointment. Food was terrible. My wife tried the scallops, what did she...get for 18.00, six scallops served on french fries. Scallops had no spices, they were the most tasteless scallops she ever had and the so called "home fries" were nothing to talk about either. For me, I had a Club sandwich , pretty hard to screw this up but they almost did, I certainly had better club in my life. Anyway, first and last time we will ever go there. I strongly suggest you keep on driving and go somewhere else .More

We ordered a 2 piece and 3 piece To go. Picked it up and went to the park to eat it. Once we opened the bag we were shocked to see literally 10 French fries with each order. I have never seen so few fries...in a meal. As a cook, how do you not see so few chips in the order, which only means it done intentionally. We also asked for the fries to be extra crispy, but the were so greasy we couldn’t eat them. So basically there were no fries. Also, it was more expensive than most fish & chip places. Wouldn’t recommendMore

We live nearby and this is our go to for fish and chips. It’s always a hit not greasy and the chips don’t taste like cardboard. Deserts are wonderful and everything is home made. They have an old fashioned coconut layer cake and pies that...change daily. A really great diner!More

There is a big promo board on the road proclaiming best fish and chips anywhere. Signs like this are all over the maritimes, but Stretch Diner actually delivers. Their fish is a haddock so fresh it tastes like the more expensive good cod. The pieces...are huge and the chips very tasty. I had the gravy option (turkey) and enjoyed it thoroughly. The service was friendly and attentive.More
