Whenever we are in Chester, we always stop at the Stretch. It's a little small so it's not ideal for large groups. The staff are friendly and the food is usually quick. Menu items are your standard fare, club sandwiches, fish and chips, hamburgers and seafood chowder. In the winter, the wood stove gives off a nice warmth.

Really delicious fish and chips. It's a simple little diner with stellar fish and chips. The clams are fabulous as well. NS is famous for it's seafood but you can't always count on that. This place excels!

We stopped here for lunch on our way to Lunenburg based on TA reviews. Also based on the reviews we ordered the fish and chips. We were pleased with the meal. While we were eating a group of guys came in and they were telling one of their group he really needed to try the fish & chips. As noted... More

Excellent fish & chips. Fun retro 50s ambiance inside. The exterior is unfortunately bland, but you forget all about the outside once you get inside. Worth the trip.

The Stretch diner is not much to look at and you will not find candelabras with soft music and equally soft lighting. I gave this restaurant a very good rating simply for the fact that the food is great. It's a homely place to eat, all home cooked, including the french fries. The fish and chip is great with just... Natalie does an amazing job as the owner of the Stretch Diner . The Stretch is a really friendly place to eat with good food and great service . I would definitely recommend it . So if you're visiting , don't pass it by on Route 3, as you head into the village of Chester. Have your lunch there and... More

The food is good, the staff is friendly and efficient, the prices are reasonable, and the owners are fabulous community supporters. The fish and chips are great, but the homemade pie surpasses everything.

Our group of 10 had been cottaging at Ledge's Edge Lodge in East Dalhousie and stumbled upon this Diner on a day trip to Chester. Sign said real good fish and chips and it was wheel chair accessible so we decided to give it a try. The waitress was very accommodating and rearranged some tables so we could all sit... More

The food was acceptable as we ate breakfast there but it was a bit greasy and the coffee was not that great. Took a while to get our food and it wasn't that busy when we ordered. Not many choices in Chester for this level of food so it will satisfy but won't be on the list of top places... More

We stopped while out on a drive and I ordered the fish bites, and my husband ordered the fish and chips with gravy and the portions were amazing. The owners were extremely nice and went out of their way to make sure our stay was great. They even serve Pop Shop Pop, love it. Will go back again.
