It has been a few years since we stopped at this restaurant, now called Longfellow (but the receipt still says The Evangeline, as there is a motel on site as well) located on Hwy 1 near the Grand Pré site and tourist attraction. The menu...is relatively limited, but they’ve upscaled a number of traditional Nova Scotia dishes, and what we had was delicious. My husband had the salt cod cakes which were served with a soft poached egg and cream sauce and topped with freshly chopped herbs, with pan fried potatoes. I had one of the specials; BBQ corned beef with onion straws and coleslaw served on a brioche bun with hand-cut French fries (with skins). It was scrumptious! We’re definitely returning. While we didn’t order any, they do serve alcoholic drinks as well. There is also an outdoor patio. The dessert case had a number of specialty-baked pies as well.More

A charmless strip motel on the outside (with the exception of the historic house). On the inside clean Scandi-modern. Besides the name, there are references to Evangeline, Acadians, or anything else I associate with the region. Restaurant is exceptional! We had oysters and crispy duck,...and were the only diners that night. The pies were as good as homemade. A pleasant stay, but I wish I could have made tea in the room (only coffee available) and have a little more celebration of local culture/history. Other than the excellent pies.More

I remember this place as an old time motel at the cross roads of Grand Pre and Wolfville. It is a stunner now! Although right off the main road, it is back enough that there was zero road noise. The rooms have all been redone...in a very modern and stylist minimalist design. It is down the street from wineries, restaurants, cafe etc but don't miss the Longfellow restaurant on the premises for fabulous meals! The staff were wonderful. Exceptional value and nicer than staying right in Wolfville.More

We had been really looking forward to eating at Chef Ray Bear's latest restaurant. Our waitress was very friendly, service was nice, and the restaurant gives off a comfortable 1950's diner vibe. We started by sharing the Oyster's Rockefeller, which were perfect in every way....Very yummy! However, my main course - the Eggplant Involtini - was thoroughly disappointing. The portion size, for the price, was something more typical of downtown Halifax than the Annapolis Valley. The sweet potato wrap, which held-in the grilled eggplant stuffed with basil ricotta, was nearly raw. My fork couldn't penetrate it. When I tried to cut through it with my butter knife, it simply squeezed everything out of the middle. The grilled vegetables were tasty, but the sweet potato was inedible. When I politely mentioned this to our waitress, she offered to bring out some additional grilled vegetables. I was disappointed that they didn't offer to replace the main course (but the steamed/buttered vegetables, turned out to be the tastiest part of my meal). In the end, I paid for a meal that I felt I did not actually receive.More

The motel is hard to find. There is no sign with name, no address. I assumed that motel for local folks. It was very noisy since motel located by highway #1. The cafe is very overpriced, looks like out of desperation . Bunch of adults...were drinking under our window, and left a lot of empty cans and bottles.More

I just checked into my room this afternoon and I’m so excited that I had to write a review immediately, without even having spent the first night here. After spending three weeks traveling around PEI and Nova Scotia I finally found a place to sleep...where the floors don’t creak, the beds don’t squeak, the air-conditioning works great and it happens to be the hottest day of the summer, and everything is new and updated and tastefully done. We checked in this afternoon at the appointed time and because our room wasn’t ready, the manager kindly upgraded us to a larger room at no extra cost so we could move it immediately. The place is huge with two separate large rooms one with the king size bed and its own bath; the other room has two queen size beds and its own bath. Since there are only two of us we only needed the one king size bed but I applaud the manager for making that decision. The king size bed we are sleeping on has a mattress that is undoubtedly the most comfortable one we have had in three weeks various historic inns, hotels, and B&Bs. The same is true of the pillows – the best! Finally, a place who knows how to make a traveling guest comfortable!!! While it may look like just average small motel on the outside, they have done a terrific job of upgrading and re-decorating on the inside. Relative to the two other places we have stayed in Wolfville for this week. It’s an outstanding value for the money. They have a little restaurant on the property which we’re going to try on tonight and all the reviews I’ve read on that eating establishment have been excellent also. I can’t believe that with all the research we did we missed this hotel. It’s literally about three minutes to downtown Wolfville. This is a gem + a good value for all that you get.More

Stayed here for two nights, motel was average. Surprisingly its quite quite. had two great nights of sleeping, bed is VERY COMFORTABLE. Over all it’s clean, carpet is abit outdated, i would think about changing this. Otherwise its fine and comfortable. I found it a...bit pricey for a motel, I paid more to stay here than what I paid at the Delta in downtown St. John. We come to Wolfville at least once a year, couldn’t get a place in Woldville so this is why we stayed here. Over all its not bad. As for the cafe, its not bad, its a diner. Coffee was average, breakfast was good but, yes there is a but. I have never before seen a “traditional breakfast” which consist of eggs, bacon, ham or sausage, and toast, yes some come with home fries, but thats not the issue. I have NEVER before seen a tradition breakfast with one egg, am I wrong in expecting 2 eggs. Anyway it was an average breakfast nothing spectacular. Our server though was a peach, sorry i didn’t get her name, but we defenjoyed talking to her and she was just full of Maritime pleasantry. Thanks for the great start to our morning. Over all I would stay here again, just a little disappointed with the few things mentioned.More

Stopped for lunch based on TA reviews. We had Haddock with salad special and Egg salad sandwich and pie. Haddock was fishy and looked like it was a frozen fillet, beet salad was tasty but unfortunately had a long hair in it. Egg salad was...ok but inexperienced waitress forgot the pie so ended up cancelling it. She didn't remove it from the bill so had to wait until that was figured out. She wasn't properly trained as she had no idea regarding questions about the menu or the accommodations ie was there a pool.More

After visiting a nearby fabric quilt store, it was recommended we have lunch there. Food was wonderful (fish burger, salad, pies for dessert), service was excellent and friendly, even though it was busy at the end of the lunch rush. Prices quite reasonable. Highly recommended.

We always loved to stop and eat here....food was excellent but today was different. I ordered seafood chowder....it was watery, blah and mostly potatoes , tiny shrimp and scallops and tasteless haddock. There was a bit of lobster on top but again taste. The scone...was very dry. When I went to the washroom it was filthy with paper everywhere...on the floor inside and out. Saw large spot of spilled coffee right by the entrance and mentioned it to staff as being dangerous. In time she took a paper towel and wiped it up. Was never so disgusted ...and will not be returning. Most of staff were sitting in a little room off to the side chatting instead and keeping the place clean...especially during the pandemicMore

We stopped here for a late lunch and I was surprised at how busy it was. To me that's always a good sign! The service was very good and fast. The tables were spaced out for COVID and I felt very safe eating there. I'm...gluten free and ordered the fish cakes and salad. Salad and dressing were amazing. The fish cakes were more potato than fish. My husband tried them and said the same. He had the pan fried haddock. A nice serving of fries was added instead of salad. It was good, and I would definitely give it another try sometime I'm there in the future. It was nice to know they had a gluten free brownie for desert as well.More

We dined here five years ago on our trip east and loved it. This visit was a big letdown. Service was beyond slow. Waited almost an hour for our food and two of the orders were wrong. Thought it might be a one of, but...on our second go, service was slow and the food was cold. Hardly any pies for desert...just apple. Sad to see this diner losing its vibe. It used to be a highlight of our vacation.More
