Proper espresso and macchiato in a really funky café. Hot, strong with great service. Even the locals who were in and out for their coffees and pastries looked hip!

Such a cute and friendly spot! Great local flavor. Cinnamon buns, scones and muffins all delicious. Happy to pull up a chair next to others to have tea and coffee and chat. Beautiful decor. Small but a fun stop.
For the staff working Sunday Nov 27 in Mahone Bay you are amazing, so kind and speedy. Amazing atmosphere perfect for a chilly day to feel cozy, tops off to the owners for keeping such a wonderful atmosphere and charm to the building. This is...a must go spot if you’re visiting Mahone Bay, seriously wonderful, staff is so accommodating, lots of seating, lots of dietary options for people with restrictions. Wish I said an extra thank you to the staff today for being so helpful! 11/10 business all around wish I could give 10 stars.More
It’s a coffee place. For young people. We had a dog, so wanted to sit outside, tables and seats were wet. I know it’s October, but if you have outdoor seating, make it useable. It wasn’t busy, so there was time to wipe the tables...and chairs outside amped to replace the paper towel in the washroom. A garbage can outside would encourage people to put things in the garbage instead of leaving on the table. I make an extra effort to use independent coffee shops, but I can see why people go to Tim Hortons, as there are minimum standards that are always met.More
We are in no sense whatsoever a place for young people only as evidenced by the many wonderful people of all ages who come through our doors everyday! With all of our patrons who are the true lovers of independent coffee shops, we have a...More
Breakfast with friends. In converting this old barn to an eatery, the owners preserved the building's charm. Great, cozy atmosphere. People seemed to be definitely accepting the invitation to hang out for as long as they wanted. We ate up in the hayloft - very...nice. My rating given for the ambiance, not the food. Coffee was good. Baked goods for breakfast - OK.More
Excellent staff behind the counter. Fast and courteous service. Ordered double espressos, a cinnamon roll and a pumpkin spice donut. All was excellent. We will be back. Nice pottery and other items for sale there too.
A friend of mine who lived in Halifax recommended the Barn and it did not disappoint. I had a delicious scone that was quite sizable. The Barn has a great vibe to it. I would definitely return.
Great coffee shop. Amazing sweets and great coffee. Would certainly visit here again. Enjoyed the ambiance inside…..
Great coffee and treats, unique place. Outdoor and indoor seating. We saw groups of cyclists stopping by, and rightly so.
A quaint spot with a great ambiance, a nice place to stop for a coffee, they have great baked goods and excellent coffee. Best flat white I’ve had outside of New Zealand. There is lots of parking in town by the ocean front a short...walk away or street parking out front.More
Always warm and friendly coming into The Barn and always worth a trip in from the city. My friend and I got drinks and Breakfast pastry (bacon, scallion, gruyere), and the lemon berry muffins. The pastry was excellent and might have used a tough of...sauce or something, only cause it was almost like a breakfast sandwich, or just a touch of warm butter cut into the center. Was amazing still though. The lemon berry muffin was bursting with flavor with berries that tasted like they were just picked out of the garden that morning. Its a close contender to the incredible apple muffins they make late summer to early fall. Full as we were we couldn't help getting more treats on the way out the door. I grabbed the quiche with bacon, cheese and chives and the maple blueberry (vegan) scone on the way out. The quiche is top tier amazing, the eggs in it are soft and fluffy, the bacon cooked to perfection. The scone, it didn't matter that it was vegan, just as the staff told me, it knocked it out of the park! lots of fresh blueberries and a pure maple taste and a oatmeal type crumble on type. Its almost unfair to other places they are this good!! lol Very talented bakers, hope they hang onto them!More
Best spot in Mahone Bay to meet someone for coffee and treats. Warm, friendly atmosphere. Staff is always very friendly and accommodating. Flavorful coffee served in beautiful mugs. And just the best, fresh treats ever. Go early to get best selection.
Perfect place for a cup of coffee. From decor, to staff, to food and drinks, everything is amazing there. I bought a bag of Barn’s coffee to take hone, and regret not buying more.
The Barn is a wonderful place to buy a great cup up coffee and treat yourself to an amazing pastry. We enjoyed the best blackberry scone we have ever eaten. With a barista behind the counter you can have your coffee the way you like...it. There are little two and four seat areas to have a quiet moment to yourself or spend time with friends. As masks are currently mandatory, and all staff were wearing them as well, we felt perfectly safe sitting inside. The smell of coffee and baking are wonderful and the rustic atmosphere of the building blend perfectly in Mahone Bay. I highly recommend The Barn and will definitely be visiting again.More
First let me start by saying that I love The Barn. I love their coffee, I love their treats, and their staff. After a long while away (I haven't been in since pre-pandemic), I was shocked when I walked in the door today and very...little has changed in the layout. It was like walking into pre-pandemic times. It looked to me like it always has. I'm not saying there hasn't been a major changes but to my naked eye it is certainly not enough. Other than a glass barrier at the cash and separate Entrance and Exit doors very little has changed. As soon as we walked in we had to walk directly past (very close) a table of people (who are sitting down so they are not wearing masks). Seats that would be quite easy to remove without losing business still take up space. While waiting in line we had to wait right next to a man sitting at a bar stool eating and drinking his coffee (there are several stools right next to the line up). Although there are arrows to get your coffee there is no clear path to exit the building without either walking back past the line / or directly through people enjoying a chat and a coffee. Bulky shelving and furniture still takes up a lot of space on the main floor and should really be removed / replaced with smaller pieces for the time being to allow for social distancing and better flow through the cafe. As someone who is high-risk I was extremely disappointed and saddened. I know our cases are low here but it's still a pandemic. Unless we hear of some positive changes in the very near future we will be getting our coffee elsewhere.More
