Great food and great service! The place was very busy and we didn’t have reservations, but they were able to accommodate us. We were able to enjoy dinner on the patio on a beautiful sunny September evening. For our meal we ordered the seafood chowder,...shrimp tacos, and scallops and mash. ALL were delicious. I would definitely eat here again. We really enjoyed the dining experience and recommend anyone to stop for an excellent meal.More

Really bad restaurant experience at Clovehitch; after a two hour wait, we were told twice that one of our menu choices was no longer available but it was then served to customers who arrived after us. This is why we rarely go out to eat...these days!More
This restaurant came highly by friends who had just completed the Trail loop. So when we were headed for a staycation drive we decided to the Clove Hitch for supper. Well we were not disappointed. I enjoyed the burger and my husband loved the clubhouse...sandwich. A glass of wine then some coffees and dessert made for a great experience. Staff were very friendly explaining their shortages may make our wait time a little longer than usual but we were ok with that…after all…we had some wine and the time to relax.More
It was Sunday night and the manager warned us it might be 45 min for food. Fine, no problem, there was live music and we could have some drinks. It took almost 1.5h for any of the food to show up, in which time we...were checked in on once. When the food arrived, only 4 out of the 5 people in our party got their dishes. Worse, the waitress didn’t even seem to question or comment on that. The food that did arrive was bland and not particularly enticing, definitely not worth one of the higher price points we’ve seen here. Finally, when everyone else finished eating, it became clear the final dish wasn’t arriving so I asked them not to bother and just give us the bill. The ghost dish did somehow manage to show up on the total so had to ask for it to be corrected. No discount on the rest of the meal or even as much as a biscuit so I wouldn’t have to walk out hungry. Luckily the lovely hosts in our B&B left out some cookies so I didn’t have to go to bed on an empty stomach. We’ve seen the positive reviews so it was a natural choice for dinner. Sadly walked away with the biggest/only disappointment in our otherwise great 2-week trip across the Maritime provinces.More
This was by far the best meal we have had in Cape Breton. I had a club sandwich, sounds boring, but far from it, with homemade focaccia, brie , bacon, chicken and chipotle mayonnaise, delicious. My husband had pork belly and beans,also excellent. The waitress...was delightful. Can’t wait to go back.More

Great bistro for supper while staying next door at The Hebridean motel. Nice choice of freshly cooked food. Best fish and chips and pan fried haddock in a long time. Good choice of local beers and wines. Good atmosphere. Nice patio.
Food is delicious good service clean easy to find off highway across from Home Hardware but a bit expensive.

My friends and I went to port hood for the weekend and went to supper Saturday evening. It was fantastic! We had a could of drinks while waiting for our meal, I had a Caesar( delicious and spicy) they had something with pineapple and cranberry...juice/ &vodka and my friends enjoyed them as well. For our meal we all ordered the burger and I must say it was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. I would definitely recommend it if you are a meat eater, so good. The service was great. Definitely give this place a try if you can!More
My wife and I were staying in nearby Archer's Edge glamping and had dinner both Friday and Saturday night. We booked ahead which is a good idea as it is a popular place. The food is very delicious and the menu varied to suit all...tastes. The service was super friendly. Friday night the food came after 40 minutes but Saturday was much quicker for some reason. We really enjoyed the overall dining experience and recommend anyone nearby to drop in .More
There are not many options in Port Hood but that is fine when you have the Clove Hitch. With the pandemic restrictions I imagine it was not as lively as usual but it still seemed very popular. Our dinners were great right down to the...edible flowers. We had the lobster linguine and the haddock. They were both competently done. The bottle of Tidal Bay was very good. The service was friendly and the place seemed popular with local people.More

We ended up at the Clove Hitch because it was just about the only place open on a weekday during the pandemic, but we were very happy with our meals and the service. Pub food with flair and an emphasis on fresh ingredients.
I would definitely eat here again. Food was fantastic, service was great. They do have a kids’ menu and are welcoming to children. I had the lobster linguini and it was excellent. Good choice of local craft beer and cocktails.
My boyfriend and I went here for lunch today before going to the beach in port hood! It was an awesome lunch, we both got the crispy chicken burgers & they were delicious! We are from Halifax and we are big crispy chicken burger fans,...and it can be hard to find a good one, but this place nailed it!
