Their frozen meat pies are great as are their cookies and fresh baked goods. I would suggest they put a better/more efficient system in place for paying. There are two counters however no one know where the line starts to pay. Sometimes there is one line, then each person goes to whichever counter is free. But sometimes there are two lines and no one knows which is to order food and which is to simply pay for an item and leave. Both? And none of the staff ever explain. If you want to grab a loaf of bread and get out, you can wait forever due to the line confusion which often results in others who just arrived being served before you because randomly one line became two. I suggest they make it one single line, clearly marked, then each person goes to whichever counter is open, just like you do in a bank. Counter confusion is my only complaint, otherwise lots of love!

We had heard about the bakery at the Farmer's Daughter from family members, so on our arrival in the area we stopped in. We are here for a few days so placed our order for bread to pick up on our departure day. No problem placing the order. Returned later in the day for a light supper. I ordered a hamburger and hubby ordered a chicken sandwich. The hamburger was tasty and cooked well but I found the bun was a little heavy for the burger. Still a tasty burger though. Hubby's chicken sandwich was excellent, on homemade white bread sliced just right. Tea was steaming hot (thank you!!) There is a small area of 3 tables for eat in service We asked about a slice of pie for dessert and we did have that option, but the server suggested buying the entire pie. A slice was $4.00 and the entire pie was $9! They sliced it for us, and gave us forks/plates to take back to the motel room. Our room has a fridge so dessert for the week! A very friendly and welcoming spot..stop in...you won't be disappointed!

Stopped by a couple of times. Only food that disappointed anybody was the hamburger, kind of meh. Poutines were really good. Went back for a second time and ordered wraps (crispy chicken) and they were huge, filling and good

My wife and I drove about 40km to Farmer's Daughter today because we were craving ice cream. I ordered 3 scoops of ice cream in a cup, my wife ordered a soft serve. The young woman at the counter told me that I could only buy 2 scoops of ice cream. I asked why, to which she explained that there were only the following portions to choose from: Small, Medium & Large! Now I ordered 3 scoops „small“ in one cup! This was also not possible, probably because the young lady was not able to add 3 x 2,50$. In short, we left the store and went to the neighboring CoOp. There was just a good offer. 1 liter of ice cream (vanilla with black cherry) for $4.99. We have then comfortably eaten at home. Here the daughter of the farmer should train her staff a little better, Sales optimization goes differently!

A great stop on Cape Breton Island! The baked goods are to die for and the filled buns were fresh & hot filled with lots of flavour. Enjoyed the stop on the way in & again on our way home. Their oatcakes, molasses cookies & snickerdoodles made their way back to BC in my carry-on! The gift shop is well stocked but not what we stopped for.

Ordered 2 pieces of chicken with fries. Chicken was over cooked, very dry. Fries were dark brown and also over cooked. Would not eat at this place again. Unfortunately there is very little choice in Whycocomagh. Better food at the Co-Op store across the street.

We had the frozen chili, chicken pot pie, and shepherd's pie. They were all really tasty, reasonably priced, and a nice change from restaurant food while we were traveling. We also had a few of their bakery items which did not disappoint, and the attached gift shop had lots to offer. It was just a all round fun place to shop at.

First time back since my last review. The eggs were good. The sausage were excellent, better than most I have had. The scrambled were cooked as they should be. My personal preference is home fries on the grill, but the deep fried one were as good as anywhere else. So worth the return trip.

Went there a week ago and felt like I was going to faint it was so hot in there. I know air conditioning isn't cheap but I felt ill having been there for less than 20 minutes. The poor staff looked like they were going to pass out any moment. At the very least, the place needs a dehumidifier. Buyer beware, the food is good but the gift shop has a crazy markup, there are better, cheaper places to go for that kind of stuff, especially if you're going around the Cabot trail.

Just went in for a hotdog and was pleasantly surprised when I got back to my cottage. They all were practicing social distancing. I placed my order and they said I could go to my car and they will bring it out to me. Which they did. When I got back to my cottage and opened the box the hot dog bun was quite big and soft and so good. I assumed they bake them their. They had a bakery section but there wasn’t much left at the end of the day when I went in. Just from that hot dog bun I would assume their baked goods are great!

Awful service. They ignored me in line behind another customer and then served someone who was after me at another counter. Couldn't believe it. I have seen their service deteriorate over the last few years. I will not go back.

Plenty of treats, baked goods, ice cream plus other foods. Lots of small gift items also. Great stop to stretch you legs all while grabbing something to eat.

This was a great stop along the road for our family. We had lunch, ice cream, and let the kids play on the playground a bit. Everything was delicious. There’s also a little market and gift shop to check out.

I was excited to visit this place to check out the food and the crafts. It was lame. Like old people expensive crafts and the restaurant was just ok nothing fancy. Super dissapointed. Was hoping for authentic food, people and crafts. I guess this might appreal to old rich tourists?
