I recently went to the Symposium in Ancaster and was very disappointed with the quality of the food. First of all it was lunch time and almost all restaurants know that lunch is usually a maximum 1 hour deal. After 30 minutes I received my...appetizer, i ordered a cheese flatbread - why so long? 20 minutes later my entree came out, roasted potatoes. It consisted of 2 small red russet potatoes, cut in half with cheese on top for $12!!!! This is basically $5 per potato with a bit more for the cheese. Worse than that, the potatoes were RAW. Not a little under-cooked, completely 100% RAW! The waitress didn't seem to care either. Crap experience, in no way recommended.More

High ceiling with large Greek style murals, open concept, bar area as well. Food was varied and good. There was 6 of us and had a cross section of foods. Appetizers were pricey - however, entrees were very reasonably priced. Everything we had was very...tasty.More

I had breakfast here with a group of six people. Each of us enjoyed our breakfast. I personally had my go to eggs sunny side up, with bacon. They did a good job. You'd be surprised how many restaurants can mess up a simple breakfast....Their early bird special is a fair price for a decent breakfast.More

A few people had recommended this place but it took awhile for us to get there. Now that we have we will be sure to return, especially between 4-6. During this period they have appetizers at 33 percent off and beer and wine specials for...4 dollars. My wife had the chicken tender appetizer. They were plentiful and were accompanied by a tasty mayonnaise based dipping sauce. I had the steak bites, which were tender, tasty and accompanied by a teriyaki type sauce. My wife had a glass of wine and I ended up having two pints of the coldest Pabst beer I have had in any bar. Total bill for both of us including drinks was 35 dollars. Wow. However, given the setting, service and quality of the food I'm sure a favourable review would have been warranted even at full price. I expect to return this Sunday and try out some of the other appetizer selections and of course determine if the beer is always that cold.More

I have been to three different Symposium cafes in the region and most are alike in their Mediterranean themed decor and dishes. A little overpriced for the portions and I would say it’s not a place to dine out with young children.The cakes are delicious...and worth sharing a slice.More

We've been coming to the Ancaster Symposium Cafe for quite a while. I always order the same breakfast and the portions are always consistent. The food is always cooked just right and the service is great. There are several breakfast specials that are very reasonable...too.More

service was a little slow considering there was really no one in the restaurant. I don't need you hovering but see if my tea water needs topping up before bringing the bill
