Lunch out at this patio restaurant proved to be a find! We had a shared beef tenderloin sandwich with fries - it was perfect! The server was efficient. The place was welcoming. We wished we were staying longer.

My husband and I traveled to Bayfield by boat to stay for two nights. We love to try new restaurants and enjoy good food. We intended to eat at Black Dog the first night and another restaurant the second night, but could not resist going...back to Black Dog for another night of uniquely prepared offerings. We normally don't eat in the same restaurant for two nights in a row, but this was an exception. The drinks were a bonus and were also excellent. The smoked pork chop is like no other, but the risotto is the absolute highlight. The fish and chips to die for and even though heavily battered, no grease to interfer with the taste. The buratta salad was the best I'ver ever had, even better than I had in Italy. Our bartenders and servers we delightful and made the experience extra special. The lunch menu should include a soup and sandwich option. Huge dinner size portions are neither healthy nor needed at lunch time. Service was friendly and fast. It is unfortunate that the proprietors have decided to take gender neutral washrooms a step too far. Individual...washrooms with a locking door is perfectly acceptable for gender neutrality. But a washroom with two stalls most certainly is not. Women and children do not need to be using a toilet next to men and the opportunity for abuse should be glaringly apparentMore

I have dined at the Black Dog several times over the years, but not for quite a few years at this point. I was introducing a friend to Bayfield and we were pleased to get a table on the patio for a late lunch. The...patio is lovely (with lots of umbrellas) and although there are a lot of tables, they are arranged in such a way that you don't feel like you're on top of your neighbours (bravo!). The menu is not extensive, but there are diverse choices and I have a feeling they do everything very well. Our burgers were very good and the fries were PERFECT (even 30 years ago when it was the Admiral, this spot had the BEST FRIES). I was envious of a burrata salad that was served to a nearby table. Drinks were reasonably priced. At first glance, the menu looked a little bit expensive but when we thought about it, we paid almost the same for a "diner experience" on the Square in Goderich. I was a bit surprised by the service which was adequate, but indifferent. Next time I am in Bayfield with my partner, I will definitely bring him to the Black Dog.More

5 minute wait for for a table of 4. Really nice table inside. Pork Chop was the winner out of all of our dishes with the fish and chips being a close second.
