Went to Cafe Lviv as part of a group of 10 for lunch. When you enter the restaurant, it is very bright & airy & well decorated. Menu was great & all options were well described. With our group there were many dishes ordered &...we were not disappointed. Food was great, large portions & reasonably priced. Tatiana was our host & very efficient. I will definitely be back!More

Cafe Lviv Is an extraordinary restaurant!! It boasts both scrumptious food & impeccable service.; we luxuriated for several hours over an simply outstanding dinner with 4 people. The menu is diverse and delicious. We started with drinks and appetizers, had main courses and finished this...delicious culinary event with desserts and vodka assortments native to the Ukraine. The portions are huge, the sides are creative & complimentary, the desserts are utterly sublime. Our server was one of the finest we’ve had in our dining experiences, both in Canada and abroad. She explained each dishes particular nuances and explained the tradition behind the Ukrainian vodkas. Her skills were exceptional, as a server and interpersonally. First rate service! Reservations are recommended. You are missing a truly joyous experience if you’ve yet to visit Cafe Lviv!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️More

Had a fantastic meal. Very authentic food. Married into a Ukranian family. Very definite dishes that are acceptable to eat and how they are to be prepaired. So I am taking a chance here, but Baba doesn't know how to use a computer. The food...here is right on and some surpasses Baba's 92 years of experience. Don't stop with the appetizers and mains. Had the cherry perogy and Napoleon cake. Wish I had brought my kids so we could have shared the rest of their deserts. Going back for sure. IF YOUR DRIVING THRU PORT HOPE, YOUVE GOTTA EAT HERE.More

I am Ukrainian Canadian. The food was excellent but the portion sizes were for children, not adults like me. The soup bowls were small: I don't know where they could have gotten such small bowls. Only 3 potato pancakes were served on a plate that...could hold 5. On our previous visit we received 5 potato pancakes on the same plate. This is shrinkflation in force. My Ukrainian grandparents were never so cheap as to serve such small portions. This restaurant is overpriced and we will not be returning. :-(More

I wanted to try some authentic Ukrainian food. Their cabbage perogies were (don't tell grandma ) best I ever had. The dough was oh so soft and delicate. filling was very tasty. Potato Pancakes were very good and enjoyed by my wife. we also had..."Nalysnyky (Ukrainian Crepes) with caramelized filling . Also very good . My only regret is the restaurant is so far from my home, though it will now become my dinner stop coming home from the cottage.More

I have visited and sampled Café Lviv on several occasions. While the food is fabulous, the staff are splendid. I haven’t yet discovered anything served that I wasn’t raving about. Visit soonest.

My husband grew up with a Ukranian father. For my husband's birthday we chose to dine at Cafe Lviv on a Friday night. Our server, Tanya was personable and attentive. The chicken Kyiv was very tender and the garlic potatoes were delicious. I found the...vegetables a bit too al dente, especially the carrots. The soup was flavorful. The potato and dill pierogies were well prepared but my husband was a bit disappointed that they did not contain any cheese. The Napoleon pastry portion could easily feed two people. We also ordered nalusnuku cherry and poppyseed crepes. They were served warm and very tasty. We had reservations for 5:30 and by 6:30 most tables were full. It was a rainy but warm day and the A/C inside was almost uncomfortably cool. I'm glad that I was wearing long pants and matching jacket. Two mains, two desserts, one borscht soup and a coffee including tip was over $100. We would make the 45 minute long drive again for a future special occasion.More

Finally got to try CAFE LVIV today. It was amazing! Had a bowl of borscht and a salmon cream cheese crepe. Healthy and delicious with great service. So nice to have a place to go for lunch that doesn't rely on a deep fryer. I...will be back in the very near future!More

You may have tasted goulash or perogies before, but be prepared to be spoiled! Every dish I have tried (most of them) has exceeded my expectations (Ima foodie lol). Not just better than I can cook at home, but better than grandma's. The Chicken Kiev...beats the pants off of my best Cordon Bleu. Ukrainian haute cuisine suits the Canadian palette very well... I would feel comfortable bringing the pickiest "meat and potatoes" folk here, as well as the snobs. Aleksandra and Tanya make me feel most welcome when eating alone, 2 rays of sunshine.More

Café Lviv Had lunch yesterday at the Café Lviv located in Port Hope Ontario and it is fast becoming known for their unique Ukrainian cuisine. The four in our group were familiar with Ukrainian food especially two of the people who had Ukrainian parents. We...were there for lunch which would be an easy introduction to the staff and the food. One of our group started with the Vinaigrette Beet Salad. A combination of beets, carrots, peas, green onion, green apple in an olive oil and lemon vinaigrette. We all had a taste of it and found it delicate but not overwhelming from the taste of the beets. The mixture of other vegetables offset the flavour of the beets well. Two of us had the Borscht which of course is a staple in any Ukrainian household. The Borscht is made with a variety of beets and vegetables served with sour cream and dill on the side. It was available with Beans or with Chicken and Pork meat combination. Although we had ordered one serving with Beans it came none-the-less with Chicken and Pork This was slightly different than we were used to in that the normal dark red beet colour was somewhat muted by the addition of other vegetables and I believe yellow beets included in the soup. This did not detract from the flavour of the soup; it was just different. Along with the soup we were given a sort of dinner roll which the menus said was supposed to be Ukrainian bread on which we were to spread a traditional Ukrainian spread made from pork fat and garlic enhanced with dill. The sour cream when added to the soup brought the flavour more closely to what we had anticipated. One of our party was craving eggs in the form of one of their open faced sandwiches and he was in luck as the sandwich was delivered. This was part of the topping on a slice of a rye bread along with Swiss cheese and tomato. He seemed satisfied with it. My wife decided to try the Ukrainian crepe with caramelized apples and the presentation was superb all be it a fairly long time in coming. The flavour of the crepe was quite enjoyable. Strangely one other guest ordered the chicken crepe which came in the form of a turnover rather than a crepe. This was more a Ukrainian thing than your regular impression of a crepe. The chicken which was ground could have possibly been left in chunks rather than ground and the bryndza (Ukrainian) cheese gave a chalky feel to the meal. There was a wide selection of wine and beer and the coffee and cappuccino while strong was delicious. Two of us had the Napoleon Cake a classic Eastern European cake made of very thin and flaky puff pastry with layers of a smooth, rich and luscious pastry cream. It was absolutely delicious in spite of being impossible to cut into nice pieces. Perhaps they were short staffed which would have accounted for the inattentiveness to our table and the long wait time for delivery of our food. It would have also been nice if they had included more items on the lunch menu like the perogies and cabbage rolls. I would go back but probably for Dinner. The servers were very friendly and willing to explain anything on the menu that was not familiar or to answer questions on the ingredients to one of our party on a restricted diet.More
