My husband grew up with a Ukranian father. For my husband's birthday we chose to dine at Cafe Lviv on a Friday night. Our server, Tanya was personable and attentive. The chicken Kyiv was very tender and the garlic potatoes were delicious. I found the vegetables a bit too al dente, especially the carrots. The soup was flavorful. The potato and dill pierogies were well prepared but my husband was a bit disappointed that they did not contain any cheese. The Napoleon pastry portion could easily feed two people. We also ordered nalusnuku cherry and poppyseed crepes. They were served warm and very tasty. We had reservations for 5:30 and by 6:30 most tables were full. It was a rainy but warm day and the A/C inside was almost uncomfortably cool. I'm glad that I was wearing long pants and matching jacket. Two mains, two desserts, one borscht soup and a coffee including tip was over $100. We would make the 45 minute long drive again for a future special occasion.

When I heard a Ukrainian restaurant had opened in Port Hope we just had to go for dinner. Being of Ukrainian heritage I love cabbage rolls & perogies. Café Lviv left the best impressions! Delicious dishes, beautiful presentation, great wine list, wonderful dessert & lovely atmosphere. Alexandra was our server – she described the dishes from the ingredients to the preparation & was extremely attentive. We had borscht, vinaigrette beet salad, chicken Kyiv & potato pancakes followed by Kyiv cake & Napoleon pastry for dessert with cappuccino. Every bite was heavenly! The complexity of the flavours was impeccable! I felt like I was back in my grandmother’s kitchen and have never had a better Ukrainian meal (believe me, I’ve been to just about every Ukrainian restaurant in the GTA). I can’t wait to go back! Support a new business & enjoy authentic Ukrainian cuisine at Café Lviv where the servers are welcoming, the ambiance is cozy & the food is superb, you won’t be disappointed.

I was there yesterday with my wife for lunch. The place was full and that was at 1 pm. The servers were perfect and the food was fresh and chef prepared. The chef has been in numerous restaurants in Kiev for decades and knows all the presidents and they know here. Port Hope is so lucky to have such a restaurant. I had the mushroom and onion crepes , beet salad and a cappuccino. It was all fantastic. To the negative reviews , hogwash, I think alot of people dont realize that in the restaurant biz, twenty people can just walk in. Guess what, homemade food takes a bit longer. Complainers should go up the road to Mcds or kfc. Port Hope is so lucky to get this great crew in from Ukraine. Oh. Make a reservation, even for lunch, the place is packed and for good reason. Oh and the coffee. My sign of a great five star restaurant!

Had a delicious meal. Tried the following: 1. Beet and carrots salad. Complete with peas and a gentle vinaigrette. 2. Cabbage rolls (2) served with sour cream on the side were tasty, large and so tender! 3. Round Chicken Perogies. (7) served with sour cream and topped with cartelized onion. 4. Honey cake with cherries. Actually made from layers of delicate pancakes. Ambrosia! Lots of delicious carbs! Be are to make a reservation! The place fills up fast. They are expecting their liquor licence in the mail any day.

I am Ukrainian Canadian. The food was excellent but the portion sizes were for children, not adults like me. The soup bowls were small: I don't know where they could have gotten such small bowls. Only 3 potato pancakes were served on a plate that could hold 5. On our previous visit we received 5 potato pancakes on the same plate. This is shrinkflation in force. My Ukrainian grandparents were never so cheap as to serve such small portions. This restaurant is overpriced and we will not be returning. :-(

Cafe Lviv Is an extraordinary restaurant!! It boasts both scrumptious food & impeccable service.; we luxuriated for several hours over an simply outstanding dinner with 4 people. The menu is diverse and delicious. We started with drinks and appetizers, had main courses and finished this delicious culinary event with desserts and vodka assortments native to the Ukraine. The portions are huge, the sides are creative & complimentary, the desserts are utterly sublime. Our server was one of the finest we’ve had in our dining experiences, both in Canada and abroad. She explained each dishes particular nuances and explained the tradition behind the Ukrainian vodkas. Her skills were exceptional, as a server and interpersonally. First rate service! Reservations are recommended. You are missing a truly joyous experience if you’ve yet to visit Cafe Lviv!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Our friends found this new restaurant and we just had to check it out. We opted for a lunch which was just fantastic. If you want some really traditional food this is the spot. The dinner menu has more variety, which you can understand why if you get seating in the upper area near the kitchen. Wonderful opportunity to hear the action and discussion, even if you do not speak Ukrainian. The dishes are hand made, and based on what we saw they make everything fresh that day. You need to check this new restaurant for 2022.

You may have tasted goulash or perogies before, but be prepared to be spoiled! Every dish I have tried (most of them) has exceeded my expectations (Ima foodie lol). Not just better than I can cook at home, but better than grandma's. The Chicken Kiev beats the pants off of my best Cordon Bleu. Ukrainian haute cuisine suits the Canadian palette very well... I would feel comfortable bringing the pickiest "meat and potatoes" folk here, as well as the snobs. Aleksandra and Tanya make me feel most welcome when eating alone, 2 rays of sunshine.

I wanted to try some authentic Ukrainian food. Their cabbage perogies were (don't tell grandma ) best I ever had. The dough was oh so soft and delicate. filling was very tasty. Potato Pancakes were very good and enjoyed by my wife. we also had "Nalysnyky (Ukrainian Crepes) with caramelized filling . Also very good . My only regret is the restaurant is so far from my home, though it will now become my dinner stop coming home from the cottage.

We went with a group to celebrate two birthdays; so nice to have the small private room at the top of the stairs. Our server was so warm and friendly and made our evening so special. The pork schnitzel was delicious, as were the cabbage rolls. A friend was happy with his chicken kiev. The napoleon pastry for dessert is exceptional. Cafe Lviv is a terrific restaurant and if you haven't yet been to this gem in Port Hope, give it a try. For fans of European cuisine, it's a real find.

Went to Cafe Lviv as part of a group of 10 for lunch. When you enter the restaurant, it is very bright & airy & well decorated. Menu was great & all options were well described. With our group there were many dishes ordered & we were not disappointed. Food was great, large portions & reasonably priced. Tatiana was our host & very efficient. I will definitely be back!

Fantastic food and very friendly service. When we arrived the staff was so welcoming. We had amazing home made chicken noodle soup and pierogis for dinner. The food was excellent. Took an order of potato pancakes to go - and those were also amazing. You cannot go wrong eating here. Simple food; simple ingredients. Amazing results!

Finally got to try CAFE LVIV today. It was amazing! Had a bowl of borscht and a salmon cream cheese crepe. Healthy and delicious with great service. So nice to have a place to go for lunch that doesn't rely on a deep fryer. I will be back in the very near future!

I've eaten here twice and both experiences were outstanding. The best Chicken Kyiv I've ever had. Borscht was delicate and delicious. Cabbage Rolls were great. Beet Salad and Potato Salad were also awesome. Staff if friendly and helpful. Make a reservation because it's very popular.
