Fantastic food and service; giant portions

Only visit this restaurant if you are very hundry or want a 2nd, doggie-bag meal. Expect a 30 minute wait to be seated; despite the large size of the restaurant, there is even a larger number of people wanting to dine. The clientelle is overwhelming locals. The menu is North American diner food, and extensive. For our family, 2 large eaters shared a Smoked Meat Sandwitch and Cobbs Salad. We could not finish.

Great food and big portions

We visited this restaurant after we visited St Jacobs Market. It’s directly across from the market. This was a Sunday and around 2:00pm. The restaurant was very busy. Lots if people from the market go there. It’s a family style restaurant. Very dated. But the food and service was great. We ordered the Rueben sandwich and it came with your choice of potato salad, fries or Coleslaw for $16.99 and two pork and chicken Souvlaki for $21.99. The portions were huge for a lunch menu and delicious. I can see why the restaurant is very busy. Our server whose name was Laura was an excellent server. I highly recommend this restaurant if your coming from the market or in the area.

What a great restaurant. Huge place, but still can be hard to get into as it is so popular. Went with family and did get right in, and had a huge booth for the 6 of us. Service was great, and food was too. Portions were so big that we all had leftovers for the next day. Prices were in line with other restaurants. Chicken strip platter came with 5 large crunchy chicken strips, fries and coleslaw. I had liver and there were 6 pieces of it, and I think 5 strips of bacon. My wife and I will probably split something next time, and still leave full.

Service was good, very average food. Reminded me of a basic diner food. Processed meats on our club sandwich. My fish and chips was definitely nothing special tbh. No alcohol no coffee or desert one onion ring appetizer and two lunches $75 before tip. To Much for this type of food unfortunately.

Restaurant was busy, but we were seated after a short wait. Menu looked promising with lots of variety. However, two of the four orders were incorrectly entered by our server. Vegetables were undercooked basically raw and chicken was overcooked and dry. Perhaps was just and off day. Might try again, but would not make a special trip for it.

We dined here early on a Thursday evening and the place hadn't gotten too busy yet. By the time we left the dining room was packed. Service was prompt and friendly. I had the Pork Souvlaki Wrap and it was very tasty, accompanied by fries and a greek salad . The portion was so generous I could not finish it. My wife had the Schnitzel on a Bun. She said it was very good and she could not finish her accompaniment either. The prices were quite reasonable. We shared a Lemon Mousse dessert and it was very good.

It was my friend's first time at this restaurant. It is good food, large portions, and friendly service. My friend ordered the Chicken roll with sweet potato fries and I ordered the Lox, Stock, and Bagel. My girlfriend's order was very dry and tasteless. We told the server and she brought a sauce on the side to add taste. It fixed the problem totally. My order had mega delicious salmon and tomato and sauce. Very tasty and filling. The sweet potato fries were very good and I can definitely recommend this location.

Not a Good Experience 😕

Been here once before and it was better then than this visit. Paid over $20 for a Burger that was precooked and warmed up and served..It was not pleasant, There was no quality check from the server.We we running late so I ate 1/2 and took the remainder home for my dog.My Aunt had the poutine which was quite salty. I was visiting enroute to another province. Disappointed this visit.

10 Stars for the Reuben Sandwich

We recently ate at Jack's Family Restaurant and our first lunch brought us back the next day for our early dinner. Our lunch was a Pork Schnitzel with sauerkraut on a bun with the choice of french fries, coleslaw or potato salad. My husband chose coleslaw. I enjoyed a Chicken Souvlaki Wrap which came with a Greek Salad. The portions were huge, delicious and fresh. The next day my husband ordered a Reuben Sandwich with coleslaw again and I enjoyed a Greek Pizza. The Reuben Sandwich was loaded so high with corned beef my husband could only east 1/2 of the sandwich. My Greek Pizza had more than enough black olives and feta cheese. We both brought our dinners home and ate them the next night for dinner. Our server both times was friendly and the service was quick. We will definitely return to Jack's the next time we visit St Jacobs, Ont.

Excellent Restaurant

We ate at Jack’s restaurant 3 times while visiting St. Jacobs. They have a large menu.The food was served hot. We had an excellent server, Germain. I had salmon, which was perfectly cooked and my husband had fish and chips, which he liked. Another night, my husband had a huge Caeser salad and I had a baked potato and veggies. For dessert we split a lemon cake. It was delicious. I certainly recommend Jacks.

Jack's scores high points on all fronts. It's located in an unpretentious barn style building with high ceilings and good ventilation, which these days is a plus. Our service was outstanding. Seated quickly, waitress there in no time, and really didn't think it was possible to get the meal to us that rapidly. I am attaching photos of the breakfasts. They were mammoth. As in feed a hockey player sized portions. We were craving breakfast at 1 PM and there is a limited breakfast menu available after 11:30 AM. My friend had the Greek Omelette and it came with a raft of hash browns, beans and a very substantial and tasty omelette. My Canadian eggs Benedict with a strip bacon substituting for pea meal bacon was delish. The bacon was excellent, eggs a tad over by still very light and tasty and the hollandaise was just right. Decore is in country style, cooking is the same, deeply gratifying home style cooking of the first order. Our waitress was a gem and will visit there again. We ate out on the picnic tables that were covered outdoors and felt very comfortable.

Went over for breakfast this morning before we headed out of town. We had been here before, so knew the place. The food was good; the Mediterreanean omelette, Jack's Breakfast w/smoked meat and French Toast were good. They charge you extra for rye bread and if you want local syrup. Really? You are in the heart of maple syrup country and you charge extra for it?? Michelle was our server and she was friendly, but didn't check back to see how we were and we had to flag her down to get a refil on the coffee. Overall, an OK place.

My 60th birthday dinner held at Jack's July 30,2021.

My father and I arrived and were seated immediately. My 2 best friends Margaret and Patricia we're already waiting for us at the table. We placed our drink orders and our food orders. My father had cream of dumpling soup . which he said was incredible. I had ordered an entree the garden salad with creamy balsamic vinegar dressing the salad and dressing were absolutely mouth watering. Both Margaret and Patricia decided to have no Salads or soups. Margaret ordered the lasagna dinner Which she said was awesome. Patricia ordered the chicken parmesan with spaghetti with sweet marinara sauce. She said her dinner was incredible. My father ordered the smothered chicken dinner and he said it was fantastic. The birthday boy ordered a 10oz prime rib dinner with fully dressed baked potato and fresh vegetables carrots and Broccoli. The prime rib was cooked medium and it was cooked to absolute perfection And so tender it could not have been done better. We all finished off the meal with large Sundays and they were absolutely fantastic. The experience was great the ambience was good the service was incredible the food was also incredible definitely 5 star and above.

Service is Good and Portions are Huge

We went to this restaurant on a Saturday for an early dinner. We got there around 4pm and were seated right away. However, by the time we left around 5pm, the restaurant was full and people were waiting even outside the door. The service was quite prompt and friendly, and the food tasty. The portions were huge with very decent prices. I will recommend this place.

Perfect spot to eat before the theatre…. Was very busy as it was a theatre night but they got us in quickly…. It’s a huge restaurant but very comfortable…. I had a Reuben would share it next time was huge and my friend had chicken stirfry which was equally delicious! Definitely would stop again while In the area!
