If you don't mind waiting more than an hour for your casual meal (either a burger, a salad or a steak), then maybe you'd be tempted. It's surprising the service was so slow, considering all reservations were made months ahead of time (because of sanitary measures). The decor outdoor was just average. The indoor restaurant was closed due to sanitary measures.

While visiting Prince Edward County for the weekend, we had drinks one night, and dinner another night here. The restaurant is situated right on the lake, with lovely views. You can sit outside on 'stadium' type seating with your drink and watch the sun set. For dinner, we ate at the bar - the bartenders were really friendly even though they were busy, offering tips on the menu and just chatting about PEC. For dinner I had shrimp and grist and my dining partner had the pickerel. We shared, and both meals were really great. I really like the atmosphere here, and the food was just great!

We have visited the Devonshire numerous times, and I honestly have to say that I walk away impressed on every occasion. Today my wife and I had lunch and I couldn't decide between two dishes, our server was extremely knowledgeable and helped me choose the hot + sour aubergines. It was one of the best lunches I have had, just always really, really good. The service+atmosphere+quality of dishes served = One of the best restaurants in the area by far!

The restaurant at the Drake was recommended so we booked it for our anniversary dinner. We thought we would find an upscale restaurant; what we found is a fairly hip location which is resting on it’s laurels. We were extremely disappointed with the very limited menu - basically three mains to choose from. We ordered the oysters for an app. They did not taste good at all - a sharp bitter taste. Not even close to the sweet succulent oyster we had at a restaurant in the Distillery District in Toronto just two nights before. The sangria was basically lightly flavored water with barely any fruit or alcohol tastes at all. This should be a hard pass for all future diners. I asked the server how the burger was cooked. He said throughout but assured me it would be juicy and not dry; the burger I received was bone dry and hard to cut in half with my butter knife. The striploin was tasty but both dinners served to us had excess fat and gristle. With multiple issues we expected to see the manager but the server had barely a response. He did bring over two complimentary desserts which was nice but hardly made up for what we would say was a very disappointing experience. If you are dining at The Drake to say you dined at The Drake, then you are all set. If you are an experienced diner and dining at The Drake for an excellent meal, I dare say you will be disappointed.

It was pouring rain on Tuesday 5pm, I came in with my two kids all soaked and cold. We asked for a table or anything to seat on/bar for 10 mins to have a glass of wine and a desert. They told us they are full and can’t accommodate us. When we went inside as my son wanted to use a washroom we saw half of the tables were empty. When we asked about it they told us it is for later reservations. I literally begged to give us a table told them we will be in and out in 20 mins, as everything else around was closed and kids wanted to have a desert, but they dined a table anyways. Jay, main manager, was cold and didn’t care, was whispering with other staff girls, made me uncomfortable. They are after big dinner money and don’t really care about kids, so not kids /family friendly. I saw number of empty tables and people were not arriving yet as we stayed in the car to wait for rain to go away. There was no need to turn us away. We have friends living in the county and I will be telling everyone don’t use this place - overpriced and rude staff

Myself and 6 other women visited Prince Edward County for the weekend to celebrate a birthday. We have visited the Drake's locations in Toronto and have always had a lovely experience but this one was quite the opposite. To preface this many of us are in the hospitality industry and are not known to complain as we are extremely understanding but this experience was so negative we'd like to think our review might help them improve. Upon arrival it took our server 15 minutes to even come over and greet our table and service continued to be underwhelming the entire time. Multiple things were forgotten in our meals (no chicken on salad, missing condiments) and one meal was completely wrong. When we asked our server about these few issues we did not receive a pleasant answer and were shamed for even asking. We would love to return but our feelings are split as this was such a poor experience.

There is a lot of hype around this restaurant, however the service just absolutely ruins everything for them. It's clear based on the reviews others have similar experiences here. My boyfriend ordered fish and chips, and they brought out a lobster roll (no problem, it happens). However, the problem was, we waited about 10 minutes until we even saw another member of staff, never mind our server, and when we told her this was the wrong meal, another server came out (this is now server number 3) and said they will just be bringing out two pieces of fish instead (would have been nicer to actually get the plate he ordered but its fine). At this point, before we even saw our waitress, my meal was done. His two pieces of fish eventually came out and the waitress came over and proceeded to tell us how this wasn't her fault about 30 minutes later (ok great?). She dropped off the debit machine without saying a word, we ripped off our own receipts and saw her chatting up her colleagues on the way out. Pretty disappointing for the price.

The Drake is more about show than substance. If you are looking for that "fancy" meal then fine but you'll likely come away hungry and poorer! The food is well presented but honestly, you can find food just as good or better for less. If you are going for a group gathering then that room is at the back with no waterfront view.

Ate a few meals here when I was in the area. Food was generally good, but a bit disappointing at times. I could do the same or better at home. Breakfast came as large portions sizes (two people could easily share), and generally tasted good (if sometimes bland). Espresso was very good. But make sure you confirm your order is what is listed on the menu. A paper menu isn't always provided, and the barcode/QR code scanner doesn't always work. When the menu states "gluten-free pancakes" and you are unknowingly served buttermilk pancakes, you have to ask if you did something wrong when your insides hurt later that day. Arctic char with vegetables: soggy. Asked for an bourbon cocktail, and was served a shot of whisky in a glass full of ice. I think the server and bartender had some miscommunication... Also, the famous burger was small and very charred. Wasn't sure if someone was playing a trick on me, but I was expecting something thick and flavourful. Maybe I expected too much, and I can forgive one bad meal, but not more than that.

Four (plus one) of us were looking forward to enjoy a nice dinner at the Drake. We even came with a designated driver to enjoy some wine & cocktails. The waitress did not seem to have a good day. We told her we are here for a good time and brought our DD. It took her long time to come back after we got seated to ask for a starting drink or cocktail. One of us ordered a side-dish with some minor changes and that got screwed up. She waitress did not even attend to this mistake we had to ask another waiter. (everyone else did order from the menu without any further extra wishes.) After I finished my G&T I ordered a bottle of Rose wine. I took more than 12 minutes to arrive at our table. I saw the bottle in an ice-bucket on the bar counter for more than 10 minutes without her bringing it to us. If she would have been more attentive - we probably would have ordered another bottle. Her loss of an extra tip. The food was good.

Long anticipated dining experience for our final evening in the area. We had the raw oysters, the gazpacho, the eggplant entree, the bison bolognese, and the lobster roll ($33.-). They charge $8 for bread. The service was variable, from “I’m rolling my eyes waiting for your order” to “perfunctory.” The atmosphere was worldly but ruined by loud notes ranging from Led Zeppelin to Muzak. The food (oysters and eggplant excepted) was bland, unremarkable, and poor value for money.

Great location, parking practically non existent and so disappointing to have two out of the four breakfasts served 10/15 mins between them. It was explained that the hollandaise sauce needed to be prepared again for some reason. Not wanting to make a fuss and since checking the menu, my husband’s classic breakfast came without the sausage!! It wasn’t that busy but we had a 45 min wait until we received the first of our meals. It was enjoyed apart from the classic breakfast.

Staff we on point. View is incredible. Covid measures took nothing away from the picturesque dinner. Food wise, the flavours were all there. We got the fish and chips and steak frites (substituted mixed green salad for fries).

We had contemplated staying at the Drake Devonshire during our trip but given our experience at dinner I’m glad we opted for an alternative. The Drake Devonshire is one of a group of properties operating under the Drake heading. I have visited and eaten in others and been pretty impressed. The drake Devonshire has a stunning setting and their staff are incredibly friendly and efficient but the food. I ordered Fish and Chips, my husband ordered Lobster and Shrimp Roll. The fries are home cooked and really good but the main items where mediocre at best. The fish came in two uniform blocks of stodgy thick batter, nothing homemade where it was concerned, this was obviously prepackaged portions thrown into a deep fat fryer and even that couldn’t crisp it up. The lobster shrimp roll consisted of more salad shrimp than lobster plus fillers. It doesn’t take Gordon Ramsay landing on your door to point out if your selling yourself as an upmarket establishment you have to meet the criteria and having a great location and competent staff won’t save a bland basic lazy offering on the culinary front.

This is not an inexpensive restaurant but the service and food did not disappoint as one would expect from an upscale restaurant. We chose this restaurant as it was within walking distance from our B and B. We could not take advantage of the outdoor seating because of the rain.I would suggest making a reservation well in advance. Even on a Monday evening, the restaurant was filled but, the tables were well spaced so dinner conversation was not a problem. Most tables were set up to offer a view of the lake. We both choose the Arctic char as our entree with one soup and one beet salad as appetizers. We shared the chocolate tart for dessert. All of the food was well prepared and presented. Portions were generous. The staff were friendly and professional. We would certainly return.
